I’ve seen a lot discussion over the last ten years about vault space and not having enough of it for all the gear we collect. We’ve had a massive expansion in space since Destiny 1 but it still isn’t enough, I’ve run out of space a few times from collecting infusion fuel, storing gear I don’t use often, and saving gear that could potentially be outstanding in future updates. I have a solution: vault tabs.
In Destiny 1, the vault had a section for weapons, a section for armor, and a section for miscellaneous items, all separate from each other. I say take that idea and update it to accommodate what all Destiny players use the vault for. Have separate “vaults” for weapons, armor, and items that you can tab over to. In each of those vaults, have two or three sub vaults that you can use to organize your gear. I, like many other players, hoard weapons with fairly good rolls to use in future updates when different items/perks get buffed/nerfed. I would have one sub-vault dedicated to essential gear I use fairly frequently, one sub-vault for my gear I keep to infuse into other gear, and one sub-vault for all the other gear I have. These would be accessible through a drop-down menu for the weapons and armor vaults, and you’d be able to label them how you see fit. You be able to transfer your gear to each of these vaults in the vault screen, or set a vault as a default when you store weapons.
Another thing that could be added is the ability to favorite gear and a vault to store them in. This could be done when inspecting a piece of gear, on console you would use the D-pad to cycle between vault A, B, and C for example, and on PC you would have a key bind for it (ideas welcome). For the vaults there would be an additional drop-down menu for this. Once a piece of gear is labeled this way, it will only be transferred to that specific vault, making it easy to quickly store your favorite gear and to find it when you wish to take it out.
A lot of people say to increase vault space, but that will just lead to us running out of space again. I say add the additional vaults with the same amount of usable space for each vault, totaling 4,200 pieces of gear with the items vault being significantly smaller (for obvious reasons). If you still run out of space, then it may be time to do some spring cleaning.
This is possibly the best idea I could come up with as just a player who has trouble finding my weapons and armor I like to use amidst all the gear I keep to infuse into new weapons and armor I collect as well as rolls I keep to use later. If anyone has a better way to store and organize our vaults I would love to see what ideas you have. Maybe we can get Bungie to add these features in the future
