It doesn’t? In what universe lol? Seasons are $10-15 a pop, main expansions now cost $60+. 4 seasons = $40 minimum, that’s $100 minimum for a year of content. How does it not meet that qualifier?

  • You can play the game as-is for $0. Seasons are $10 each, WQ is $40. The anniversary pack is an additional $20, so you can either say year 4 costs $100 or year 5 will, but it would have to be one or the other. The majority of years in this franchise don't cost $100 to stay up to date on, & nobody that's been here since D1 year 1 has averaged anywhere near $100 a year to play.

  • You can play a few hours worth of content for $0, and then you’ll have to pay for more content. Witch Queen base is $40 ($50 for me, CAD) but then you’d have to buy all of the seasons separate, as well as losing access to 2 dungeons, since were being charged for those all of a sudden. You’d also lose out on the exotic SMG locked to the deluxe as well (so realistically if you want all of the main gameplay content in the year, you need the deluxe edition. Which costs $100 CAD :) )

  • Near $100? Seasons have costed $10 since Black Armory, and the major expansions were still $40+. So the 3-4 seasons (3 in Forsaken, 4 in Shadowkeep/BL) cost $30-45+ dollars, equaling $70-85. That isn’t near $100? 🤔 and expansion prices are just gonna keep rising, seeing how happy everyone is with Bungie charging more for less

  • D1 year 1: $100 2: $40 3: $30 D2 year 1: $100 2: $70 3: $70 4: $80 5: $100 300+80+70+70+40+30 = 590 590 ÷ 8 = $73.75 You could even do 590 ÷ 8.5 since delays have moved the Destiny calendar from September to February. That would make the cost $69.40 a year so far.

  • Oh, we’re doing averages but not the full prices? Lmfao, sure thing. The D1 Y2 and Y3 outliers totally aren’t affecting your prices. Not to mention they were FAR from a full year of content, actually, they both had FREE UPDATES to give out more content. The mental gymnastics are real, you could win an award. Too bad Bungie will probably charge you for it Also hilarious you’re choosing the bare minimum prices all around lol. I’m done with you. No reason to argue with someone who’s so incredibly convinced that a $40 expansion and 4 $10-15 seasons isn’t near $100 “because Destiny 1 expansions costed less but I didn’t take into account how they had so little content that Bungie had to give out free updates to make up for it”. Can’t argue with someone leaving out -blam!- like that

  • Ok, let's say someone bought all Destiny 2 content separately for some reason: Y1: $100 ($60 for the base game plus $20 for each expansion) Y2: $70 (Forsaken seasons were not sold separately, you could only buy the Forsaken + Expansion pass bundle for access) Y3: $75 ($35 for the base expansion plus $40 for all four seasons) Y4: $80 ($40 for the base expansion plus $40 for all four seasons) Y5: $105 ($25 for the anniversary pack, $40 for the expansion plus $40 for all four seasons, we don't have pricing for the dungeons so I'm not including them). Average: $86 Still well short of $100 even if you insist on paying maximum for a game you've been playing for five years. Either this person isn't very wise or they're a whale and cost isn't really an issue for them.

  • I’d ask “how so?” but I realized you’ve got no points left since I shut them all down. No need to continue this. Enjoy using outliers and leaving out vital information to try to pretend you’re right. Enjoy the overpaid dungeon and Ghorn! Hopefully you can enjoy all those cosmetics as well, since they’re so unnecessarily expensive. I’ll be enjoying any other game that gives me a fair amount of content for what I pay for

  • What other games? Most games I play don’t charge for cosmetics and then lock (usually) free items behind it. You can’t create a pattern and then break it for the sake of being greedy. Well, I guess you can, seeing how many people are defending it

Halo Infinite for example. Love the game but $9 for a cosmetic set is pricey. I can pay $25 and get actual content, and cosmetics on top of it. I used the freshest example of course. Plenty of older games I can throw in for examples too. Your perspective of “usually free” doesn’t really hold much weight. You don’t create the content, so you can’t really toss a price on it. And what games are you playing? The only pattern they broke is making content cost less in a calendar year. I’m sure you didn’t even bother to check that out though.

Not a good example that guy used but what about having to pay $20 to use the colour white? And you can only use that colour on a particular "core"? $20 for the colour white in Halo Infinitely monetised or $5 more than that in D2 for a new Dungeon with new loot, more cosmetics that work with any of the in game shaders and potentially more they have not revealed thus far?

  • Halo Infinite is also FREE. 99% of Destiny costs $$$.

Yep its "free", its also got less content than the meat in a single chicken mcnugget. You get more for free from Destiny than you ever get from Halo Infinite.

Its got a campaign for $60 with no... coop friendly AI that don't drive vehicles like at all no scarabs no f'ing level select like ya know... HALO CE HAD IN 2001??!?!?!? no varied levels all takes place in a single biome for the entire game, so no desert and no snow levels. For a F2P MP why hold back on all the modes and content? Where is team swat? Where is team snipers? Where is infection? Where are the playable elites? Where is Invasion? Where is action sack? Where is multi-team? Where is Assault? Where is Juggernaut? Where is KOTH?

Lol I've made one point that you haven't disproved: D2 doesn't cost $100+ a year to play as-is. Edit: technically I made two points: that one & that I can't think of any popular franchise that hasn't capitalized on anniversaries, but you narrowed the parameters to something D2 doesn't even fit in lol Edit 2: I just looked through my purchase history, & it turns out shadowkeep deluxe was $60 & BL deluxe was $70 at their times of release, so they were even cheaper than I remembered .
