Like the Fallen before them, the Traveler had abandoned the Guardians. Their Light vanished. Their ghosts dropped dead. Light was lost. They were mortal. They were weak. Ordinary. For the first time since the Red War, they felt fear. Fear of dying once again. And with the Darkness closing in to wipe them from existence, that fear twisted them.
Desperation swept through the Vanguard like a plague. It consumed their hope and left them nothing but the instinct to survive. To survive long enough to have their vengeance.
The Traveler had used them. They had been fodder all along. Refuse tossed at the Darkness so the Traveler could protect itself.
So they abandoned their principles and used the abhorrent methods of Savathûn to restore their ghosts. They brought Spider into their ranks to oversee the process. They would have the power to flee the Darkness at any cost. But more importantly, find and destroy the Traveler.
With the Darkness surrounding Earth, the Guardians escaped on a Golden Age ship they managed to cobble together with help from the House of Light. They installed Failsafe to pilot it and outfitted it with Rasputin and his orbital weapons. They took as many residents of the Last City they could, but the ship could not hold them all. Even with the Guardians strapping themselves to the outer hull to make room, knowing they would die and rez over and over exposed to the vacuum of space, people would still be left behind.
So into the depths of space they went. The Guardians, the House of Light, and the survivors of the Last City. The Drifter had risked being caught by the Nine to tell them where to look. It would take a hundred years to get there. Their ship would barely make the voyage.
Once there, they would face the Traveler only to discover a new species it had blessed with its gifts of Light. A species blinded by that Light just as the Guardians and Fallen had.
The Guardians were the enemy now.

<Wow, this doesn't fit the Gardener's motives at all...>

4 RepliesI stand with the Darkness. Y’all better align yourselves with the Drifter. Gambit is a chance at salvation take it.

5 RepliesFrom what I recall of the possible dark future. If and when the traveler leaves and abandons is, the guardians lose access to the Light. So strapping ourselves to the outer hull would resort in our final deaths.

3 RepliesCan we still buy ornaments we will never use at eververse though?

Destiny 3: The bottomless money pit that you throw your college savings into and never get anything out of. Sure it's a long title but also accurate.

2 RepliesBungie: sounds cool but best we can do is a remastered strike

14 RepliesDestiny 3?... Is this fake news?... Didn't they say they won't make a D3 anymore? Or that was just a lie again?...

2 RepliesI have a lot of problems with this story. For now, I will just point out using failsafe as a pilot. I like the character, but I would never let her drive. She already crashed into a moon. A moon. That's like hitting a stadium with your car. What, it just jump out in front of you?

4 RepliesEdited by Mirage7853: 11/22/2021 3:59:35 PMYour story line you wrote makes no sense. Just saying. Why would we try to kill the traveler? I think we would be more likely to either die or take the deal from savathun but based off the characters we are surrounded by who send us on quests even if savathun gave us one to kill the traveler it wouldn’t turn out like that. Also I think the traveler tried to leave and Rasputin shot it. So it went into hibernation. I’m pretty sure that could happen again. So it’s unlikely the traveler can or will leave. I never thought I’d say this but bungie has started a good story. Why don’t you leave it to them

1 ReplyIt’s ok I’d have shot my own ghost, long before this miserable trajectory

Edited by Vale: 11/22/2021 4:03:26 AMWhat do guardian souls do in between each resurrection ? Bungie would get a small 100 person team on a small project to find that out... New game engine, dedicated servers, PVP only... "destiny limbo" a tec demo/competitive shooter this would push the limits of current hardware to achieve peek performance no lag or latency, no issues with hit reg nothing just clean gameplay The maps would be like if you took different memories and smashed them together none of it is real its like a dream All the guns are balenced to a T all white level but all really good the game is literally just PVP 6v6 + elim + 3 for all + gun game This would be a demo to see what they could make D3 like just to see how fans reacted to it if they dropped it after a week or kept playing it even with no reason to With the demo they are trying to catch some magic Its a new game engine so what you wish for you can have.

4 RepliesIf that happens,we shouldn't make the Eliksnis mistake ,we should go offering peace and knowledge, and negotiate for shelter under The Great Machine,The Traveler or whatever the new species calls it

3 RepliesHopefully it's a free to play battle royale with a season pass. Maybe they can get like Oprah Winfrey or Joe rogan to cameo and do a dance for emotes

1 ReplyThis sounds amazing. Are we the humans or the new race of lightbarers? It would be cool to play exclusively as an alien race(not just blue humans) but I also want to play as the bad guy so I’m good either way.
As long as there are exos or similar robot characters.
I would actually love this

That is actually an amazing story line. It perfectly mirrors the D1 story.

This would be awesome!
licks finger
9 RepliesCool concept, I like it. But who would we fight?
-
A literal meat shield for a space age ship? Yes!

I dig the concept from a video game perspective. Realistically my brain goes “If we’re still alive, by whatever means, let’s just restart there as opposed to wasting resources chasing a golfball?” Which is not as fun from a video game concept. 🤔 Unless we go with “D3: Evil Undead Sims” 😂 But seriously, cool concept! 🙂 And this is not by any means an insult, but was anyone else reminded of: “No! I must kill the demons" he shouted The radio said "No, John. You are the demons" And then John was a zombie.“? 😉
