Thoughts:
- We've gone full circle. We are back to d2y1 with the dec update. I can hear the complaints about pvp being boring already lol. Not only that, i can see a 'go fast' update coming with witch queen.
- Bungie misses halo cause they are trying to prove they can create a better halo with the dec update
- let me get this straight: you want to have less 1 hit kill abilities in pvp, so you weaken shoulder charge and hand held nova, cool; but the one ability people complained about the most, shatter dive, can still 1 hit kill? wtf?!?!?!?! that makes no sense lol
- like before, this twab shows bungie can do separate balancing, they need to just finally make the separation permanent
- this isnt gonna end well lol

Bro to OHK with a shoulder charge you’re not taking away half your subclass to do so wym
-
Space magic without the magic is just space. Empty Space. Halo is the way to go.
-
Bungie pvp couldnt hold a candle to Halo Infinite. Infinite just hits differently. They just have no idea how to play to their stregths
-
Heard it's fun, havent played it.
-
Im not a fan of competitive shooters like that, but that game like i said just hits different. Its fun knowing im not gonna get cheesed by a super and a bs shotgun. Everyone is on even ground and its just fun that way.
-
Well if people want to camp for supers, it is going to be boring. I would guess they might not even get it. Gunplay is going to be the best way to gain super energy so why not engage? Primary weapons will reward the most super energy. For those who are the most aggressive, they will probably win more. People will need to play to figure out a balance.
-
It has nothing to do with camping for super gains. In d2y1, gunplay was the best way to get super energy as well, and just like then, all ability recharge rates are getting slowed down, so people will not engage as much. The reason being: as much as people dont like to admit it, most people play to have a good looking k/d. With less abilities, people are going to play more conservative to protect that precious k/d, meaning more hanging back and team shooting from a distance, like in d2y1. No doubt people will have to figure out a balance, but i also think there will be a 'go fast' like patch released with witch queen that will change a lot of the dec patch changes.

Ill quote the key points for you Stasis Crystals While forming, Stasis crystals now slow nearby players instead of freezing them. They still freeze PvE combatants while forming. Reduced crystal detonation damage vs players by ~55%. Shatterdive inherently relied on crystals freezing and shattering on you to OHK. the freeze is gone (so no bonus damage because they're no longer frozen now and no movement restriction) and damage is reduced by 55% which if you didnt realise, all 6 crystals (touch of winter) + shatterdive damage did a total of 520 damage/55% and you get around 280 damage. (still enough to OHK) but you now need all 6 crystals destroyed (even missing 1 makes it impossible) and if they are even marginally away from the centre point damage drop off occurs lowering damage even more. Super OHKs will now be impossible, so no more shatterdive booping supers out of existence, any guardian with an overshield can withstand this too.

Stasis crystals work weird. So no one can really give us a good speculation. Along with the Slow instead of freeze, all this might do is make people 1tap and defenseless. Or it might make Shatterdive mid tier. Who knows.

What needs to be fixed on hunter stasis now is how the grenades and supers get stuck on terrain or just do nothing like they’ll sit there they won’t explode they don’t chase and the don’t freeze or slow it’s bugged and it seems no one wants to talk about it

Edited by whateverman7: 11/19/2021 4:35:05 AMYea i read it, hence why i gave my thoughts on it. As for shatter dive: it's the most complained about 1 hit kill ability, and after the changes, it can still 1 hit kill, which defeats the purpose. And if you think we (the community) arent gonna figure out how to make it happen more often, you tripping. Like i've said to others: we (the community) play the game in the wild (non controlled environments) and figure out things a lot better than bungie does in their controlled playtests.
-
Good god they said in perfect conditions it can still one shot IF you have all the appropriate aspects. Wait til the update is out they clearly don't want it to 1 shot so if it does they'll -blam!- fix it
-
Bungie literally thinks shoulder charge is better than shotguns right now. Idk what they're doing in their tests.
-
Nah, they know with no shotguns around, SC is busted. Just keep that in mind. If the plan is for gunplay, this makes perfect sense. Just like it made sense during D2 Y1.
-
Except there are shotguns around. Anytime the enemy team sees someone using SC, they come out. I main striker. Even the bottom of the scorecard players know how to counter SC.
-
Shotguns are still the most popular special. If they make special ammo really rare, people will probably still use shotguns or just dual primary. Also, you don't even need a shotgun to counter shoulder charge. Smgs wreck shoulder charge. If you're a hunter: -simply jumping counters it by making it bounce off or not reach that angle -Dodge roll usually avoids it or can even make it hit but not kill, making the cooldown get wasted -smoke bombs cancel it You can also just pay attention to radar and start moving when you see them rushing. It's easier than doing that for a shotgun because they have to sprint. They can't crouch around a corner or be an invisible hunter. I'm fine with them changing it to a two hit kill, though... But if they're going to do that they need to make a lot of other changes: Lethality in general should go down.. Remove all one hit kills. Increase the rate that abilities can be used at immensely Make them more context driven (sprinting, jumping, sliding, ect) Decrease the cast time and wind down time of ability animations, such as shoulder charge. Add more special effects to things that use to one but kill, like precision shotguns and snipers landing head shots disrupting and blinding you. Reduce the lethality of primaries as well. Increase the baseline TTK. Make all exotics that use to trigger on ability kills trigger on ability hits, unless it still makes sense to work on kill. This will make everything more interactive and make counterplay far deeper, if that's what we want... Instead of one hit kills. I'd love that.. Moving away from abilities and builds being core to the experience and focusing on primaries more is a big nope for me, though. It was horrible in D2Y1. I'm not staying around for that nonsense again.
-
I'll reply outta respect for your long winded reply.... There was a perfectly good reason it didn't OHK in D2 Y1. It's because OHK weapons were in the heavy slot. They don't have to put them back there, but they are making changes and with those changes, it would make SC the "busted" ability. Please refrain from telling me how to counter, or play this game. Don't compare D2 Y1 to now. We'll never be back there. Even if it was double primary it still is nothing like D2 Y1. Light subclasses are getting a rework. But even as is, swashbuckler sidearm would be meta for a SC build. I just wanted to point out, people said the same thing when D2 Y1 launched and then quickly realized why SC was a 2HK. If you gonna walk away from the game, because they wanna focus on gunplay.... Trust me...you won't be stopped by anyone. The opposite actually. People will be holding the door open for ya....
-
I remember people like you holding the door for players back in Y1. Didn’t work out too for y’all back then. You must of forgot. Oh the only good reason you listed for it not being ohk doesn’t exist and won’t exist after their changes. So you proved yourself wrong about this change being warranted. Just a heads up.
-
Oh yeah... People like me... And what kinda people would that be? It's clear you lack reading comprehension so this answer intrigues me. I'm always up for some entertainment.
-
I'm sure PvP will lose such a volume of players to the shift to focus on gunplay and not the space magic that the game is designed around that Bungie will either walk this back or accept that they want to serve a small niche if people who want to play a destiny themed CoD mod.
-
Game designed around? Check it. Destiny 1 is nothing like present day Destiny 2. Destiny 1 PvP was loved by many. So much so they had a legitimate chance on entering the eSports world due to its popularity. It wasn't ability spam. There weren't roaming supers. Just step back and think. The Destiny 2 you play today is nothing like it was designed to be. You still have your space magic. As per usual.... Exaggeration at best.... by the dramatic cesspool we call Forums on the Destiny app.
-
Using an occasional and low impact ability isn't the same as having space magic be a core part of the counter play. Aiming a game to become designed for eSports isn't the same as aiming for it to have a large player base that enjoys the game.
-
Lol no one outside of bungie does.
-
Yeah, idk what they're thinking or how they're making these decisions.
- Bungie misses halo cause they are trying to prove they can create a better halo with the dec update
Pure speculation…
