Player numbers:
244,000 Freelance exclusive players
120,000 fireteam exclusive players
220,000 played both solo and in a fireteam
25.5% of players went Flawless — lower than any revamp week — likely fallout of matches being fairer. If it doesn’t drop below 20% for a weekend, the Lighthouse should still feel attainable.
We liked the overall outcome and vibe of the Freelance queue, and both playlists seemed to have a viable amount of players. We are looking at running Freelance occasionally for the remainder of Season 15 but are still trying to determine what feels right. We will let you know!
This was is the Twab, if by your own admission having a solo queue is fairer than not having one why would you not make it a permanent option?
I don't understand!

Bungie just got play with friends rammed into there faces. Which they have been going on about since Day 1 destiny 2. The highest numbers come from solo players which bungie’s quick enough to get rid of.

This whole season is an experiment with trials. Good or bad. they want to put the game through its paces to see what the best outcome is. You cant alienate the duo teams either so there might be a better solution for MM without freelance that makes teams play teams and what not.

And they know in time no one will play regular trials because there is no need to with a freelance mode. That’s why all end game PvP should in the form of a solo freelance queue - if you’re as good as you think you are then prove it…on your own…

1 ReplyFor Bungie, is simple. If it’s too easy, you are going to farm it and get what you want faster. Then stop playing the game. So it’s harder, because every time you get demolished, you are going to run it “one more time and that’s it”. Fyi: It’s not competitive, if you are a low skilled team going against flawless/unbroken but it’s good for the game. Players learn the maps and get a little better at 1v1. A little D

Take your time, it'll come to you.

5 RepliesProbably to sell it to you in an upcoming season.
-
11 RepliesBy “what feels right” they mean funneling casuals into games with sweats as fodder for their twitch streams advertising the game
-
5 RepliesBungie has to go through all of the algorithms, complex mathematical equations, check planetary alignments and Harvest Moons, have several meetings, wait out the entire season, and possibly incorporate it with the new DLC

I agree with your thinking. To all the people that believe freelance is bad for the game... those numbers were only high to begin with because of the influx of players that usually wouldn't be in trials. Okay so they aren't lowering the normal fireteam only playlist. They were in there to solo queue or matchmake with a friend OR... they were your less than hardcore team of 3 that felt safer to come back and try trials knowing that they could match against solos and other non hardcore teams also dipping their toes in again. They were additional players that wouldn't have been there if it stayed the same stale mode it was, they are the players that will be leaving as it declines back to the elitist crap show its clearly becoming this week. Though I know even the elites don't like this week either.

Because they want to keep up the canon fodder numbers in between weeks for the sweats…
-
8 RepliesBecause its an endgame activity. Saint even says best fireteams at the lighthouse. Its meant for teams. Not solo players. Get some friends bro.
-
That’s 244,000 players that probably aren’t going to dip more than their toes in this week.

3 RepliesWell currently only 15% have gone flawless this week so far. Should say how terrible matchmaking is atm.
-
16 RepliesPlayed nothing but freelance last week and I don’t want it permanent. Every 3 weeks or so would be nice, imo.
-
Because they are not happy with players not needed twitch for carries. They have to make trials so content creators can make a living playing

1 ReplyBungie hates happy players

Umm, my thought(s) is that this season is mostly trial and error alpha/beta testing for Trials to launch in a new state with Witch Queen. Some of the changes might/hopefully carry over into a revamped Comp mode and IB with options to pair with the new weapon crafting system. Seems like the path forward is to have matches close and competitive for all skill levels. Though this is (imo) what the bulk of the playerbase wants, this weekend seems to (imo) show that’s not what the top players like since they hate playing each other because the games are too close, competitive, and it’s not fun when they have to try hard every game to get flawless (even though isn’t it that what Trials should be regardless of skill?) Just shows more how the playerbase is always (imo) divided on how modes should play. Some want it easier, some want it more balanced, always someone saying get gud, and no one likes playing top players including top players 😂.

It lowers the pool too much I could barely find a game
-
Remember how Survival didn't have Freelance? If we keep telling bungie that we need Freelance, then hopefully they'll make it permanent. Keep telling them! And bungie should make team more balance too.
-
It was an excitement and players tried it out. It’s not freelance because raids aren’t match made or neither are GMs. It also destroys the population.
-
They are “experimenting” with their own incompetence, me thinks. Bungo will get it together, like they always have…eventually. Even Ray Charles could see these numbers.

Cuz Bungo that’s why
