When I read the TWAB me and my friends started talking about the shaders immediately. Our general consensus was that it seemed unnecessary and a little "greasy" (looking at you finance team), but that it was understandable.
It seemed weird cause their reasoning was that shaders are now 1 time purchases, but they have been one time purchases since collections was introduced, so nothing changed.
Then I remembered that just this season (season 13) Bungie buffed the amount of Bright Dust it was giving it's players, ONLY FOR THEM TO INCREASE BRIGHT DUST PRICES ONE SEASON LATER.
I have always been on board with Eververse. It's a good idea that let's Bungie make a free to play game, but this is just a "-blam!- you" to consumers.
It's obvious that Bungie realized that an increase in Bright Dust made it easier for people to buy an eververse set for bright dust, meaning they might only spend 15 dollars on one set instead of 30 to buy two sets. So they created a completely BS reason to increase the price of shaders in hopes that it would reduce the amount of Bright Dust people have left over, causing more people to spend 15 dollars on their silver sets.
At the end of the day, it's not about the shaders. I really don't care about spending a little more imaginary money on a shader. It's about the fact that I feel like I was tricked by a company who just wanted money. And it's about the fact that this is two steps back. This is the first domino that people ignore that leads to more things increasing in price and eventually things going silver only.
Thanks for reading :)

17 RepliesThey only “increased” the BD by hiding it behind an awful time-sink. How many players actually going to complete every single weekly challenge this season? Giving you BD with one hand, and taking it back with the other Gotta admit, their manipulative creativity is still in full swing and top-notch
-
Bungie has screwed up shaders for the entirety of D2. Making more than there was inventory space on day 1, the super slow dismantle originally, etc. Bungie Devs are just terrible at designing. D1 shader system should have remained unchanged.
-
2 RepliesI usually dont complain but this is just ugh.
-
I get that Bungie likes independently publishing Destiny, but they have to partner with some other studio. The amount of emphasis being drawn to Eververse lately is getting really out of hand. Last Season they nerfed how much Bright Dust the Vendor Weekly Bounties gave. This Season they completely took them out in favor of a less rewarding system. Now they're jacking up the price on Shaders.
-
They are cooked in the brain. Doesn't make sense. Imagine a brand new player jumping in only to pay 300 for that junk. Disgusting
-
Yeah that part makes no sense and only punishes players to force them to conserve every bit of bright dust they have rather than spending a little on a shader that they may not even enjoy.

3 RepliesEdited by Kapax: 4/22/2021 11:36:50 PMThis is crazy, one would say that this system was made by Activision, but no, it's own Bungie!!!! I still can't believe they made Halo. I mean, I have the Master Chief collection and I don't see it as possible. What the hell is happening?

10 RepliesI'm one of the people who likes to give bungie the benefit of the doubt, hell, I'm still in the camp that sunsetting was a necessary thing, and that without it the game will end up in a worse place, though they definitely should have done it better. This, is just indefensible. It's plain stupid. I could genuinely understand increasing it by a little bit, not that much, since it was still a one time bright dust purchase either way, but it would make some kind of sense. But why in god's name is it 300 bright dust for a single shader? That just doesn't make any goddamn sense.
-
16 RepliesYeah this just goes to show they don’t really wanna do free to play. These limited amount you can store and grind built around the season pass is really terrible and the ask on investment as far as time is ridiculous. I love this game but man Bungie is only really only competing with themselves and they still find a way to just screw the economy. Worse than Vegas.
-
I still prefer weekly quests, I just can't be bothered to grind out all those challenges every week.
-
the current bright dust economy definitely doesn't help either. if bright dust wasn't finite the change might not be as detrimental.
-
Yep for me, this is the first time I have no way of trying to defend this very obvious and poor UX design.
-
It seems like they are passionate about doing the opposite of what the general community has strongly suggested.

Anyone play ESO? I am quite happy with their outfit station. I was hoping that when bungie announced they would be doing a transmog it would be similar. For those of you who are unfamiliar: Shaders are all earned and are 1 color. Each piece of armor can take 2 to 3 separate colors in whatever order and whatever earned color you choose. Each piece of armor is dyeable. Helmet, arms, chest, legs, boots, and weapons. All have 2 to 3 slots for colors. You can earn armor styles in game or purchase styles from their store. There are special styles you can earn during events. We are allowed to sell items, most armor, and styles to each other in game so that’s a little different as in destiny we can’t share 😅 There are so many options I can spend over an hour putting something together and I never run into someone that looks like me. Imagine the freedom to be able to create characters in destiny this way. No one would have to put on a red and black shader to find out that it makes them green for some weird reason 🤷♀️.
-
They did the same with the BD "increases" before BL, when they added a bit more to the season pass but HALVED the earn rate. Nothing new
-
These better be the shiniest, most animated shaders that I have ever seen for 300 bright dust.
-
1 ReplySo I am curious. When this start will I have to earn my seasonal armor ornament again or will those already be available???

Thanks EA

Don’t forget the ridiculous grind for the universal ornaments, and the insanely grubby hey just throw us like ten bucks and you’re already half way through your seasons grind deal they’ve got in there. If I read it right (I was mainly skimming tbh) you only get what 10 universal ornaments a season? Outside of the 20 in season 14 when it gets first introduced, but you need a ass ton of materials just to even get 1 universal ornament. Lol no thank you, thanks for playing bungo.

90% of my bright engrams and probably 99% of of my regular engrams are trash this season. Welcome to the free market, globalized. Nothing but trash to see here.

1 ReplyEdited by TheShadow: 4/22/2021 10:47:07 PMI would say I'm shocked at how many players don't pay attention to the game they are playing, or more so what actions have actually taken place that they haven't paid attention to either for the last year or so, because Bungie has a huge list of crap they dumped on you guys and it keeps piling up, and the sad thing is most of you refuse to look at it. I've been reading over this forum today and what is the biggest grip on the first page? (the cost for items and sliver), and every time the price goes up for something or Bungie removes something that makes it harder to collect whatever? Post start flooding this forum as if this is a ("new thing Bungie has been doing")
News flash people, it's not. Bungie has been manipulating the entire player base for the last 4 years, and it started getting really bad right after Forsaken when they started jacking up the cost to masterwork items among other things, and shoving Eververse in our face. Let's take a little trip back to when the manipulating actually kicked in. (Cores) thanks to some bright streamers Masterwork cores were changed to Enhancement cores and the game has gone downhill since and it keeps getting worse as time moves on with Eververse and other cosmetic BS in this game that is literally drowning this game. This is who this Bungie is today and I knew this day was coming when the real talent that cared about the player base and the game started leaving this company. Here it is that some of you were so happy Luke was moved to doing other things yet nothing has changed with this company when it comes to them looking to sucker players into their BS.
