Reading the Dark Future lore book leaves me with a few questions.
Undoubtedly we are on a different course, but seems likely a similar outcome. What I took from the lore book, and it’s probably something I missed or am not comprehending, is all characters still seem to have their same job/status/sex/race as our timeline. Zavala is still an awoken male titan who is commander of the vanguard. Ikora, until her death, is the warlock vanguard. After the bombardment Zavala tells Ana and Elsie that Eris is the real Witch Queen. Wouldn’t that make Eris the Witch Queen in our timeline?
The other questions I have from this book:
Did the events of forsaken occur in the dark timeline? As Cayde is only mentioned when Elsie is sent back to the beginning of the loop and never mention as being alive before/during/after the bombardment.
It seems to me that Ghaul failed to ensnare the Traveler with how it’s worded in the lore book when Rasputin says the blue prints would work.
The only similarities I can see at the moment is Taniks has been killed, Eris ventured into the hellmouth and came back lightless, and we wield stasis as a means to combat the darkness.
We are obviously on a different path by defeating the Black Heart and Eramis, but at least feels the ending is likely to be similar.

The is no "real" Witch Queen, it's all an illusion like mirrors of mirrors. You're all being played so hard right now. lmao It's like would mirrors exist where only mirrors mirrors mirrors? I thought so.

Back in D1 in the mission on the moon with the dead Titan is where the course of history changes. It’s the timeline Elsie has been looking for, one that doesn’t fall to the dark future. Even Eris is saved through the action in Dark Below, Shadowkeep, and the Halloween event mini quest from that year. The Gaurdian (our character) is the biggest cheat piece on the field and the light and darkness will do anything to keep or get us.

The outcome can’t be similar. Because in all the instances of Elsies failed timeline, we lost. This is where we win. Same jobs/race/status means very little. It’s not indicative of anything. Eris went bad side because our Guardian was corrupted and failed to help her. Without us, things went bad fast and she wasn’t able to ward off corruption. Elsies original lore centered on our Guardian not stopping the Black Heart, which empowered the Vex and they destroyed the Traveler. The new narrative claims she has been on this loop numerous times. So the Dark Future lore is just one instance of a failed timeline. Just one. So I wouldn’t put too much stock into it. It’s just a representation of how bad things go. Likely the biggest takeaway is the end, the explosion that then cuts to her being sent back in time. This is a very new aspect of the lore, as genuine time travel hasn’t been shown. That’s the real mystery.

3 RepliesEdited by WatchTheWatcher: 2/12/2021 9:48:31 PMWatch Byf’s latest vid on Savathun’s Song. There’s a whole recap about Eris teaching the song to Shaxx, according to Shaxx’s account. At the same time Eris denied teaching the song to Shaxx when talking with the Drifter. This is all in game cut scene. The question is - which “Eris” taught Shaxx Savathun’s Song? There may already be a Dark Eris in our timeline. Also remember Garden of Salvation - we were confronted with the image of our own Dark Guardian. There was also lore a while back about darkness itself trying to assume corporeal form in our universe. TL;DR - we don’t really know who is “real” and who isn’t. “Dark” avatars of the people we know and trust may already be among us.....

No. Too much has transpired differently and Savathun has developed differently too. Even a small change can be be massive when it comes to outcome manipulation. At the time of our Guardians trip to Mars, Eris should have already been getting corrupted, making plans, and converting to the Winnowers ideology and after the red war, finding the Pyramid on the Moon to reaffirm her new ideas. The Black Heart not being destroyed, Eris not meeting Elizabeth after getting the Unknown Artifact, and our Guardian becoming corrupted by Stasis were the deciding factors. Things are still gonna get really bad, but we're softening the aftermath of the next collapse to come back stronger.

yep they going to kill her in the raid

I think as the year progresses we will see Eris slow become her dark future version. If we dont ally with the cabal, I think Eris will. Since in the dark future she led a coordinated attack on the tower with cabal. I think the witch queen dlc will have us fighting Xivu for the campaign and once she is out of the picture, it would make sense that Eris would take the throne since Savathun is in exile.

Elsie swayed Eris in a direction as a hope that Eris wouldn’t become what she desperately has been trying to stop in this loophole she’s stuck in. The timeline where our guardians exist are proof that the events that lead up to this moment can be changed, but whether or not we can prevent a second collapse will be tested with the travelers ability to give the chosen more of its power. It’s pretty clear that the traveler is not letting us use its pinnacle power, which could be a reason why it seems so weak right now
