Raids, Dungeons, Nightfall Strikes....EVERYTHING should have matchmaking.
I don't understand why much of the endgame content is behind a "join a community/get friends" gate. My best guess is that Bungie has this idea of a 'Mommy state' that decides what content is too difficult without a pre-made team, and that is bull....They have chosen to 'guide' players towards success with their own misguided judgment. And the result is only punishment of casual players without a friends list. They already have power caps for guiding players towards acceptable content.
If normal strikes are the hardest content bungie thinks a random group can accomplish, they are very mistaken, as most of my random match-made groups destroy strikes like they are cheese. I can solo most strikes, they are not harder than the story missions(which have been designed to be solo'd). Nightfalls are not any more difficult than Gambits.
Why is the slightly more challenging, endgame content blocked from casual gamers who don't have time to find a community or friends? Why has my experience with this game, been cut short of the full content?
Adding matchmaking to all these playlists will not change the experience of pre-made groups, or people who have access to a large friends list to play with. They will still prefer their team mates over randoms. It will give those people more freedom, to play without their pre-mades. And will open an entire part of the game to people without access to a group, Part of the game we all paid for.
There is no good reason to not have matchmaking for ALL content.
PS: yes, online match making/looking for group does exist, But is a very unnecessary part of the game. Matchmaking already exists ingame for over half of the content, Bungie could probably flip a switch in the code opening missing parts of the game to everyone.

Bro make some friends or refer some irl friends this game. I was just like you back in d1. It’s a pain but it’s worth it

2 RepliesYou couldn’t complete the raid in a group of players who do not know each other and don’t communicate. Now go to lfg and find a group that don’t know each other and don’t communicate..... Bungie out.

6 RepliesEdited by Sweet Lew 88: 10/16/2020 11:27:50 PMBecause it's not hard to find people to play with. I've beaten all of raids for the first time with lfg people. Could matchmaking work once in awhile, sure. Most of the time, you'd be playing with the people that people complain about. The people that don't have the social skills to make friends or join a clan, the people that don't have a mic, that don't know how to turn a public event heroic, how to charge the ball in the corrupted strike, dont do objectives in PVP or Gambit and dont revive you in strikes. Raids are tough enough with 6 people that want to play with each other. Now try it with 6 people that don't know what to do and no leader
Adding matchmaking to all these playlists will not change the experience of pre-made groups, or people who have access to a large friends list to play with.
It would in the long run. When enough teams consisting of 4 players without a mic and 2 AFK:ers has failed the initial encounter over and over again - there would be complaining about the difficulty of the raids, that they're too hard, even impossible to beat. And eventually Bungie would dumb them down and we would have 45 minutes strikes instead of raids. I agree that dungeons and Master / GM nightfalls could absolutely work with match making though.

Edited by deadly-cause: 10/19/2020 11:23:20 AMWhen y’all can figure out things like making the blighted public event heroic, using appropriate mods for activities, not having shit load outs (last word, thorn etc for pve) and having/using a mic then sure. But until then, no way. So many people are either lazy and don’t give a shit or expect carries. Image trying to do a raid and people constantly quit then you’re having to wait for someone else to match in. With all the above, it would be a complete nightmare.
use LFG or the in app fireteam finder. Again, this comes back to laziness and expecting shit done for you.
1 ReplyRaid matchmaking is a horrendous idea. Sure, it may not directly impact the players who run in premade groups initially but over time it will. To me, the most likely thing to happen will be that all the blueberries will flood the raid matchmaking, treating it like a strike and therefore getting nowhere due to a lack of communication and competency. They’ll then come to cry on the forums, Reddit or Twitter and then eventually Bungie will give in to the pressure and dumb down raid mechanics to suit their cries. Raids will become strikes to appease the casuals and will lose their entire identity. Having seen how people struggle to work together in strikes, I can without a a doubt say raid mm would be a disaster and I’d wager anyone with any investment in raiding would agree. Matchmaking options are fine as they are

2 RepliesNo. Because people cant even equip anti champion mods in the 1020 ordeal. So i have no hope for anyone if raids were matchmade.
Raids, Dungeons, Nightfall Strikes....
*looking at the random player who doesn't know how to charge the orbs in the corrupted strike* Well yea, have fun with that.

3 RepliesPlease add Skill Based Matchmaking back for all PVP game modes ... especially Trials. I am a modest player at 1.35KD and have a blast in Survival which still has SBMM activated and I always get matched with oponents around my skill ... but either stomp and get stomped when I go in Trials. I get matched with top 1000 in the world players and streamers(people that play Destiny for a living) ... that can't possibly be fair. I don't wanna match with ppl with 2.0+ KD, I got no chance ... Stop this Bungie.... Streamers can do plenty of content while playing players on their level not stomping noobs like us.

1 ReplyDude you are right, people just complaning about matchmaking because of communication will be needed but i will enhance your idea with "what about upgrading your in-game communication". Do other online games require Discord ? No. If you play any other competitive games do you feel like your team mates have to join your f..king discord channel ? Again No. Bungie can improve in-game voice chat and this will be much more easy for everyone to play with a random person and maybe a lobby creation can be a thing. In-game LFG has to be something in this game either. People can create some lobbies and any other person can see it and join.

Just no

As much as it sucks that raids are inaccessible for many players, I would hate to see the toxic rage if raids had MM. If anything went wrong, if the team didn't kill the final boss, if a newb didn't understand a mechanic, if someone died, etc, everyone would gang up on the scapegoat.

Lol no.

9 RepliesOptional matchmaking for every PvE activities (except raids), totally for it.

4 RepliesWhy is it always the players with 0 raid clears trying to push for endgame match making? Do they not realize the communication and team effort it needs to finish a raid?

Beware what you wish for. Only this week, The corrupted NF Master : Half people don't have the correct mod, and get wrecked by champions. Those same usually people have no idea how to charge the orbs. But it's fine, bc it's medium content, so still doable "by yourself". Now, imagine the same ratio of people not really kwtd in a raid, without com, with people who may don't commit ? You're talking about +6hours raid session. It could leads to catastrophic experiences for players - so not so sure about the "more players would play" idea in this case. The only valid point I see, is that bungie should be more clear upfront about what part of the game need a fire team for people about to buy the game - so no more excuse about the "we pay for the game, we should have acces to the whole content".

This forum would be full of threads complaining about afk’ers.

1 ReplyNot Raids, if you don’t know why then that explains everything.

Randoms cant even do heroic contact events even though it literaly tells you what to do

if you've ever been stuck in the Corrupted Strike with two blueberries, most likely New Lighters who had no idea what they were doing, and I'm talking about throwing them the ball on the elevator/boss fight, and they just throw it away and shoot at me like I interrupted their attempts at killing an invincible enemy...and end up doing the entire strike mechanic SOLO just to finish it, then you would disagree with matchmaking being a thing for all content. It's ridiculous idea. You don't want to raid with random players. I don't want to be the one guy stuck with 5 New Light/Blueberries in a raid and having to carry all of them through it. If you want people to play with, join a clan. There are hundreds out there, and they always play together, and get engrams for doing as such. The only requirement is to just play, and you meet a lot of great people. Joining a clan literally takes nothing more than clicking a button and waiting to be accepted. On the other point of Nightfalls being easier than Gambit, get two other random people in LFG and try running a Master or Grand Master Nightfall and we can have a conversation. Those are difficult with even a cohesive unit - matchmaking? With random blueberries? No thank you

Edited by Althanash: 10/18/2020 2:00:27 AMNo. There's no good reason for raids and trials to have matchmaking. "Why is the slightly more challenging, endgame content blocked from casual gamers who don't have time to find a community or friends? Why has my experience with this game, been cut short of the full content?" Simple. You don't put in the effort to get involved and make connections. That blame is soundly on you and whatever choices you made to keep yourself in the casual position.

1 ReplyGod, a match made raid seems like a literal nightmare. Language barriers, no mics, connection, no experience, griefing, etc.
-
4 RepliesBro most people can't even cap zones in control, I don't want those plebs ruining a raid run too.
