[i]Cobalt walks along the road, looking for the mutated fauna.[/i]

[spoiler]Moving the chain back up here[/spoiler] She lowers the shield, "There's something out there, straight out of my nightmares... it attacked us. Slaughtered everyone, and laughed the entire time..." And then you hear a series of clicks from the canopy above...almost like laughter...

“Stay inside.” [i]Cobalt take dot his Aklex again, and fires into the trees above, hoping to hit the laughters source.[/i]

Something growls as it is struck, then a creature larger than the wagon drops down from above! It appears blurry, as if your eyes refuse to focus upon it for too long. What you can make out is that the creature is large and thin with a gray, vaguely feline body. It's mostly hairless with patches of long fur, and lashing tendrils along its spine. The creature has three sets of pale eyes and six exaggerated limbs ending with curved talons. The Nightmare smiles, revealing rows of needle like teeth, and begins to slowly circle you...

“Easy bud. Take it easy.” [i]Cobalt slowly follows the circle, keeping eye contact with the creature.[/i] [spoiler]Oh my lord I’m turning into a beastmaster.[/spoiler]

The Nightmares blurry form flickers and it suddenly appears beside you, swiping at you with it's two front claws!

[i]Cobalt drops to his knees, hoping to dodge the strikes.[/i] “Easy!” [i]Cobalt take the time to rummage for more food stocks. The Owlbear grabs the nightmare, hoping to restrain it.[/i]

[spoiler]Qucik size comparison! The Owlbear is roughly Grizzly sized, the Nightmare? Twice as long and taller, but thin![/spoiler] The Nightmare scrapes across your chest with one swipe and is pushed back as your Owlbear charges it! Then the Nightmare turns to it, screams, and pounces! The two roll in the dirt until the Nightmare pins it down and sinks its teeth into the Owlbears back and it moans in pain!

[spoiler]Oh, neat![/spoiler] [i]Cobalt grits his teeth in pain, but doesn’t fall. He tries to distract the Nightmare with something he pulls out of his satchel, which happens to be a medium sized fish.[/i]

The Nightmare doesn't seem to care. In fact, as you watch it and the Owlbear fight, you notice a cruel intelligence behind its many eyes... It isn't attacking to kill, it's playing with the Owlbear like a cat with a mouse.

“Are you thinking? Do you act upon more than instincts?” [i]Cobalt unholsters his Aklex.[/i]

It eyes you drawing your weapon and seems to smile wider, then its form flickers again and it appears looming before you and screams as it lunges for a bite!

[i]Cobalt ducks, attempting to dodge. He holsters his Aklex.[/i] “You move pretty fast for a big animal.”

As you duck past its lunge, the tendrils on it's back lash out at you! One swipes across your back and the other attempts to wrap around your leg!

“Easy, easy. I don’t want to hurt you, despite what you’re doing to me.” [i]Cobalt unholsters his sewing sword, and holds it against the tendril. [/i] “Don’t make me hurt you.”

It pulls your leg out from under you and runs into the woods laughing!

[i]Cobalt stabs his sword into the ground, hoping to stop the Nightmare.[/i] “Alright. I’m nearing my limit.”

The Nightmare turns to you and tilts its head.
-
“I’ve tried to reason, I tried to give you food, but you repay me with a romp through the forest!”

[spoiler]Oh, no I meant that it was just trying to trip you, not pull you away, sorry.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Oh neat.[/spoiler] [i]Cobalt, now on the ground, looks up at the nightmare.[/i] “Are you just going to attack me with no hope of reprieve? Kinda cringe.”

The Nightmare glares at you, then looks to the caravan and stalks closer, smiling at you...
-
“If you really want to kill one of us, take me. They’ve got nothing against you, and neither so I, but they’re innocent.” [i]Cobalt stands up, bracing against his sword.[/i] “So if you want to kill me, let me know, so I can fight back.”

The Nightmare laughs and continues stalking towars the wagon. Then, the woman with the spear runs out and towards the road! The Nightmare smiles and gives chase!

“LADY [b][i]NO![/i][/b]” [i]Cobalt fires at the Nightmare, trying to stop it from reaching the woman.[/i]
-
You stagger it long enough for her to reach the treelines, then as the Nithtmare approaches she bursts out in horseback and gallops down the road!
