seriously this whole thing has been a shitty soul crushing grind of the worst order. I derived no joy from this event other then exploring the EAZ (the map itself is fun, the event happening inside it is garbage.)
anyone else burnt out by the Solstice?
EDIT: so after a 24 hour Survey it seems that more then half of forum users (1,339/410) are burning the candle at both ends pretty hard as of this edit. if this is how Bungo plans to roll things out in the future they should be very careful as Activition can no longer be their sugar daddy to bail them out.
Edit 2: wow this really blew up, Maybe I should write a thesis on "toxicity of the vocal minority with'in communities and their effects on their Peers" using this thread as a source.

1 ReplyYou don't have to do it. Been playing since D1 release and haven't done a raid by choice. There is so much to do you can pick and choose. That being said two SoH gripes 1. Forced activities and 2. Miniboss kills are not fireteam based.

4 RepliesI'm not taking part in this season's Soltice of Heros, I'll be back for Shadowkeep.

1 ReplyThis Event just Fking blows!

3 RepliesI should feel burned out I just did two characters started my Titan today but I'm going to take it easy for the rest of the three weeks currently downloading Madden as we speak
-
it's not burning me out because i am not doing it.
-
I mean part of this is a mentality that’s developed in the community to get everything done as fast as possible and that’ll burn anyone out if you do like 30 eaz in a row

1 ReplyI dont even have the first set done :|

This event has 1 month for doing it. Ofc, everyone have their lives, their jobs and all the things to do and like any over event or activity in the game i think that people simply need to "order" themselves. Actually i have some problems that closed me to my home so i have time for doing it. Now just this morning i have unlocked the Majestic Armor and have to do it (even if i have to wait the end of the month for the assault with friends, still.) and i simply come to order myself. Even if i have time, i have things to do in house and outside that take me time. So i now when to play, what to do first and the fast as possible until i get tired ofc. On this perspective i have no problem with the event to unlock the armor (but maybe change that for the next year can be a good idea). But i can understand that even if i play in the end only with my hunter (i have a warlock but...) i now that there are players that want to do that the same things with the other 2 or 1 and it's... crazy. It's heavy. So, if it isn't a stupid idea... why not give a bonus, a sop for when you complete armor with a character? That is, for example, to give you blue armor to complete right away? Or at least most of the green quests done? It would be a stimulus, an incentive and I think it can meet those who would like to do it at least on a second character. On a third then well ... unless you're a hardcore good luck not fainting on the ground. But it seems like a good event compromise. It's an extra reward. Pardon for my bad english btw.

3 RepliesIt's easy to get burned out when trying to finish it in a week. I did it for one character. Take your time and you'll be fine.

3 RepliesEdited by Yura Dumaz: 8/8/2019 12:06:40 AMCan't blame Solstice. The game is shit in general. Just saying and yeah that's my opinion. I've been happy not playing. Just stopping by to see that nothing has changed.

I was burned out before solstice even dropped. Iron banner armor grind and tribute hall was enough. Haven't even touched solstice content.
-
Stop playing then.

i mean maybe if you took a break instead of you know, grinding away all day, everyday

20 RepliesWhy is everyone burning themselves out trying to finish a month-long event in a week?
-
You know I think it's the fault on both sides. Bungee designs these events for them to take people at least half the amount of time allotted to them to complete the quest. They don't design it for us to completed within a week. They've done this design for their quest for such a long time that is not shocking anymore. And yet every single time people are annoyed by these long Quest chains and the fact they can't do it within one week.
-
Soooo don't do it?

10 RepliesEdited by Avery: 8/7/2019 5:05:37 PMOk man, you guys are taking this too far, THE EVENT LASTS 1 MONTH! You don't have to do 3 characters in 1 week. If you are feeling burnt out, it's your own damn fault. Playing 30 crucible games, 30 strikes, and 30 gambit games is a lot for anyone, so no duh you'll get burnt out. Everybody just calm your tits and pace yourself. You don't have to finish it in 1 week. Hell you can still masterwok the armor after the event is over. Just everybody pace yourselves, stop whining, and appreciate the FREEEEEE update!

You know folks it's a game and you can set it aside if it's really making you crazy. believe me I get the idea of burn out, but sometimes it's better to walk away for a while. You're really not going to be missing anything "functionally necessary" within a few hours of playing Shadowkeep. Yes, I do get burn out, personally I've had it in this game, and others as well. I had three maxed characters in D1. Had three toons at 335 on xbox after CoO. Switched to PC and had three toons up to 385 when Forsaken released. I got one character to the dreaming city and was working on a second and realized I was fried. So about 11 months ago I deleted all my characters and uninstalled. Two months ago I made one, and only one, new character. My enjoyment of the game has increased to be sure. I don't feel burned out by the solstice grind. Sure there's things about it I don't care for, (I hate PvP and I'm awful at it, and I'm not a huge Gambit fan), but those things are tolerable for the actually small effort I have to put in to them. All I need now is two gambit matches and then I can futz with masterwork, or not. Yeah mini-bosses was frustrating. Also, sadly, the way the event is constructed brings out the worst in players (afk'ing in gambit anyone?, not reviving others in strikes so you get more orbs?, taking one shot at a mini-boss then running off to the next one and leaving actually killing the boss to someone else?). I'll admit when I got to about 80 mini-bosses I got lucky. I loaded into an EAZ instance that was just starting the boss phase. Two players had left, so it was me and one other player. I'll admit I thought about leaving, but decided to stay and help the other person out. I didn't know what boss it was, but I lucked out and it was the three cabal. So the other player and me farmed the engineers, making sure neither of us killed the engineer until we both had hits on it. Soon thereafter I was done. (It's called teamwork and it's how we are supposed to play the game, even with blueberries.) The two players that bailed on this one person missed out on the best way to finish the objective. Their loss, my gain. So, TLDR; if this is making you nuts, walk away. If you allow this game to continue to make you crazy that is on you. The event design is not so hot, but no one is forcing anyone to play it. No, I'm not burned out, because I'm not letting it burn me out.

33 Repliesyou have 4 weeks. you don't need to finish in 4 days. space it out to reduce being burned out. you don"t need to do 10 gambit matches in a row. do a couple a day kinda thing. if you're getting burned out, honestly, that's on you.
-
The problem is that people finish a play session with no reward to show for it. It takes several play sessions to upgrade from green to blue or blue to purple. If bungie would just allow us to upgrade each piece individually, that would go a long way psychologically. At least the player can feel rewarded each day or every other day at least.

I would say last years was worse

so after a 24 hour Survey it seems that more then half of forum users (1,339/410) are burning the candle at both ends pretty hard as of this edit
This is player choice and not the way it has to be done to get 1, 2 , or even 3 sets. There are 3 weeks to get your armor sets done, relax, have fun, and chip it away. I usually average 1-2 hours on work days and when I'm off 5-6 hours. In 2 workdays and 1 off day I got my titan done and was completely burnt out. Not because it is a bad event or ridiculous grind, but because i chose to put horse-blinders on and ignore everything I do in the game to enjoy myself and almost didn't start my hunter or warlock. My wife hadn't even started her hunter until the other night due to work. I decided to go ahead and start my hunter since I was going to play along with her and we got through the green armor fairly quick. When we started on the blue armor i told her that the mini bosses can be tedious and frustrating if you only focus on those so we set a goal of 20 minibosses a day and if we felt burnt out we would go do something else. we hit 20 and decided to keep going and much to our surprise the next run was the 3 cabal bosses. so i told her to leave the bosses alone even if the random didn't. we commenced Engineer murdering and the 3rd joined us. Out of the blue i got a message" I need 30, how many you need?" I told him my wife needed 79 and he replied"I'm down" and we stayed in there until she had it done. Even if we hadn't gotten lucky like that it still would have been 5 days at the most to get the mini boss kills if we only did 20 a day since there is still 12+ days left that is plenty of time even with 3 characters. I see all the Youtube videos saying"focus 1 character and get it done". Umm NO. That is the quickest way to get burnt out. I say work on all 3 to help break up the monotony. Just simply changing a character can break up the monotony due to the playstyle differences of the 3. If you want to focus 1 like the Youtube gods say to, at least be smart about it. Don't try to knockout all 100 mini-bosses at once, there are plenty of things to do. If you start getting burnt out, go work on some other piece of armor, then when that gets frustrating, work on another. This is what i have been doing on my hunter and warlock and it is way more enjoyable than the horse-blinder " I gotta get this done NOW" approach I used on my titan.

1 ReplyDo what I did.. Don't participate! I have no desire to take part in this years solstice after the last one. I mean it's really pointless. So you get a gear set day one of SK. Most won't be wearing it after week one with all the new gear to aquire. The forums have been amusing thus week with all negative Nancy's. LMAO! IT'S JUST A GAME PEOLE! HAHAHHAHHAHAHHA.

Which is no ones fault except themselves :/

3 RepliesThe problem is t the event burning players out its players burning themselves out!!!! There is nothing wrong with any of the steps, the only step that needs adjusting is the 100 mini bosses. Other than that it’s fine.
