I think that the chest exploit made the menagerie more fun since it allowed for easier grinding, and I’m pretty sure most people agree with me when I say that the chest exploit at the end of the menagerie made it much more fun. I would like to see this return, and I think it, or something like it (maybe limiting it to 3) would be beneficial for the menagerie.
Edit: The comments did a great job of highlighting that there would be no way that they would keep something like this in the game. They also highlighted that the passage above was more of a butthurt rant whining about the chest patch, which is 100% true. I think that the idea to give extra chests for flawless encounters is a good idea. To add on to this idea I would say that each chest after the first one should double in the amount of runes required per slot. This would help players spend all of the runes that they have been accumulating since the patch.

They aren't going to bring back the exploit. If they lose some people, but have a higher average % of daily players, this looks better for attracting investors.
-
Agreed. Nobody was complaining about it and now that its "fixed" the better players dont care anymore and they wont play it. So i becomes harder for anyone else. Plus the grind is still stupid hard. Even with the chest exploit ive seen people get over 100 of the same gun looking for a god roll to never get it. And now they would habe to grind ut at least 100xs for the same effect?!?!?! No thanks. But yet lord of wolves is still broken.... PRIORITIES BUNGIE!!!

It again come down to Bungie having no respect for peoples time. This is evident in almost every activity, if you don't play for 5+ hours every day then you don't matter. People don't want to spend all their time in game doing one activity trying to get 1 item and it's even worse when not having that item puts you behind others that do. Do I love the Menagerie? Absolutely, it's a great piece of content. Do I have any desire to run it 15x a day every day? Not a chance. Thats not enjoyable and not how I want to spend my game time. Maybe once in awhile with the clan but thats about it. The Reckoning all over again. Bottom line is Bungie needs to understand and respect the fact that many of us have families and full time jobs that aren't streaming Destiny and we shouldn't be punished in game as a result through means of excessively grindy loot. Make the big grinds for special cosmetic items/transmogs, not the best gear.

3 RepliesManagerie sucks now
-
Bungie messed up trying to be the cool parent. They designed an activity with clear rules and parameters. Rather than work to fix the bug/glitch immediately and restore Menagerie to it's intended design, they decided to spoil their players. And now majority of them are acting in the corresponding manner. Simply put, Bungie done -blam!-ed up on this one. They should have known better.
-
I don't necessarily want the exploit back, but maybe 1st open is your powerful and there are another couple of chests to use your runes on? I'm swimming in runes and earn them 20x faster than I can spend them.
-
I'm more than happy with it right now.
-
3 RepliesWas it an exploit or by design? This is one of the only encounters that has a significant timer at the end...what was the purpose if not to get additional chests?

1 ReplyEdited by Nenorocire: 7/15/2019 8:23:21 PMehm, no, u just want everything handed to u like half of destiny population, u are probably one of the people that complain crucible is too hard and want ur pinnacle weapon too huh, let the game play like its intended to be, everyone wouldve been ok if that exploit wasent there in the first place to begin with, u guys just like things the easy way
-
Getting 1 cheat or multiple chests doesn't change the fun factor. Either you find it fun or you don't, the exploit was nice for quick loot but it in no way made it more fun.
-
Would I use it if it was back? Sure. It doesn’t make it any less of an activity to do it, though. It’s a fun activity. Probably the best thing since Gambit.

If you masterwork your chalice you have potential of getting double drops, which in my opinion is worth the grind, but then again its not like the menagerie is a grind in the first place. AT least you have more control over the rng, as compared to other activities, the forges could also use an expansion of its wares, maybe even being able to farm the armor and raid weapons you obtain after completing the raid, only they would have a slightly higher requirement to be forged, such as 2 to 3 max temper completions. As for the reckoning it also needs a bit of an overhaul, the rewards you obtain should also match the tier, for example if you do tier one, you get ONE THING if you do a tier 3 you get THREE, if you FLAWLESS a TIER 3 you get a piece of masterwork year 2 random roll TOT9 armor (as those sets were to freaking cool they should have gotten a set of random rolls on forsakens launch to be honest).

4 RepliesIt didnt make it more fun, it made it more rewarding. The activity hasnt changed as it is as fun now as it was before.. Now, while I did enjoy the "unintentional" glitch, unfortunately I have to say it was too much, and it would have made it very hard for bungie to implement loot systems on upcoming activities. Lets be fair, if they were to leave this as it is and then introduce a new activity of a similar type with single drop at the end people would have not liked that either. My take is that they will have to come up with a solution and increase it a bit, not to the extend it was before buy maybe guarantee 2 drops if your chalice is maxed out or give more drops the more times you run it consecutively. Or, give a chest or a "key" at the end of each successful section that you can use to open the final chest, meaning that if you complete it flawless you will get 3-4 drops per run. But let be honest, it was too much, and it was game breaking to an extend. I personally think that the way this works where you can select what exact weapon/armor you want is great, and it is something that would make the reckoning much more attractive if they had it implemented as well. Its a great improvement, and if we never would have experienced the chest glitch we probably wouldnt have complained...

Well they gave us a long time to exploit that, so I was able to get the rolls I wanted. That being said, even after the nerf it's still the most rewarding activity
-
Nah just make normal menagerie reward 3 chests and heroic reward 10 chests
-
4 RepliesNo. Normal should reward 1 chest, while heroic rewards 3 chests. I think this would be a better change than just unpatching an exploit.
-
No, it's ok like it is. Downvoted.
-
They got rid of it because it could potentially be an enhancement core farm. Everything like that must go fast according to bungie.
-
Rick kackis posted a video about this. Normally I can’t stand him but the video actually made sense at the moment menagerie is effectively dead bc of the patch
-
I would be ok with 2 chests pop up at the end and 4 on heroic.
-
I'd rather bungie fix all the bugs thats cropped up in the game lately. Not that I don't enjoy sitting on a loading screen until I'm kicked to orbit.........
-
With the long timer they should add menagerie keys that open different secret chest. This would make the exploration fun and give us more loot. Different keys would drop from different encounters, have those secret room defended the same way as the underbelly!
-
all the menagerie gear/weapons will be useless in like 6 weeks they might as well let people farm the hell out of it
-
Agreed. Nobody was complaining about it and now that its "fixed" the better players dont care anymore and they wont play it. So i becomes harder for anyone else. Plus the grind is still stupid hard. 13 RepliesEdited by ramthesocket: 7/15/2019 4:07:51 PMIf entertainment is based on rewards then you’re doing it wrong. Entertainment is from the process. The reward is simply a means to another end. If the Menagerie seems boring and dull to you now then you clearly never liked it in the first place. The overall activity hasn’t changed at all.
-
I think rewarding is the word you are looking for. I don't see how running back and forth to get multiple chests makes the menagerie more fun.
