Upvote if you think Bungie isn’t trying hard enough

Title Edit: I understand that Bungie has put a large amount of their team on D3, something which I honestly believe to be a smart idea. However, they need to put a bit more effort into D2 right now as it is their current game. If people didn’t enjoy D2 how do you think they’d feel about D3? With this in mind, D2 needs a bit more support. But... if they were to keep working on D3 I wouldn’t have a problem. With all the leaks I’ve heard, it’ll probably be pretty dope. Stay fresh dumb mfssss

At this point, it just feels like they're lost. Like without the community saying "do this commonsense thing." then Bungo doing said commonsense thing, it wouldn't happen. Whereas other devs can stand on their own two feet, make intelligent choices, push out finished content, release a game that's not in beta, and appease their fans... Bungie is just kinda flying by the seat of their pants, and it's getting old. It's also why I'm moving forward with Borderlands 3, as the Destiny series, which I've been into since D1 beta, was only meant to the me over to the next Borderlands. And I'm just not invested in Destiny enough to continue beyond Opulence.

  • The lack of communication from bungie is all the evidence needed to prove that they really do not care about d2 any longer. They seem to be losing workers left and right as well

Yeah, Bungie sure isn't trying Meanwhile, at Bungie HQ... "Hey guys, lets alienate half the player-base" says DeeJ Meanwhile, in the forums... "We can never be satiated," growls the PvE basement dweller, "Genocide the PvP'ers"

      • You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game, but Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold

        • I disagree. I think bungie has tried extremely hard with the game. They have done many things to please the community. In doing so, they cant please everyone, hence the reason we get threads like this. I have an idea though: since you think they arent trying hard enough, why dont you go get a job there and show them how it's done? If you dont want to work for them, go to another company/start your own company and put out a game. Show the world what 'trying hard' looks like.

Nah I’m past caring about D2 now. If I had my way I’d move 100% of Bungie resources to make D3 the best game ever. Forget D1, forget D2, forget that other project (for now) and really turn D3 back into what Destiny should have been from the start. A game changer.

Sucks, we spent 300 bucks (or more) to get shit on because bungie wants to sell the next game, before they figured out how to patch the shit engine in the current game (without blamerizing everything in the process.) No Step 1. Git Gud. Step 2. Make Gud Game. Why do you think it's even possible the other way around. I added some QOL changes for you, but spelling is fine, and sentence is coherent. Punctuation is the word you are looking for, and when I'm using speak to text, it only recognizes it half the time.

              • If they do not have dedicated servers in D3 then all of the effort is irrelevant. I refuse to purchase another game with P2P and may the man with the worst connection win!!!

I think there are a variety of problems that are happening in the gaming industry as a whole and locally at Bungie that have lead to us to where we are currently. One of, if not the biggest, issue is 'games as a service'. This coupled with mismanagement, upper management disconnect, and microtransactions have lead to what we're experiencing in some of the biggest triple A titles releasing today. I believe that publishers, developers, and consumers have all progressed this to the point at which we're seeing. Expecting a studio to keep it's playerbase as a whole entertained on a weekly or monthly basis is a bit much. That's why the term 'crunch' is being thrown around more and more these days as we want something new and fresh on almost a daily basis. I'm not saying we're to blame entirely but there sure is enough to go around. We're also seeing the gaming industry become more mainstream. With what I mentioned earlier about management, they view this as money making potential. Wanting to make money is not a bad thing. They should all get paid for the work they do. Problems arise when upper management doesn't want money, but instead wants all the money. Wanting all the money promotes microtransactions and quantity over quality. There's a balance to be made between the two that just isn't seen too often. Bungie has definitely played their part in this as well and isn't devoid of blame in the matter. To say that Bungie isn't trying is naive, though. They for sure are trying and you can tell from their ViDocs they're proud of what they've made and are making. They recognize their shortcomings as well - they just don't vocalize them a ton, and that may be something the consumer needs to hear. I would say a problem with their studio, and others, is that they're divided and this goes back to the games as a service. They're working on a new IP, Destiny 3, all the while maintaining and trying to update D2. I would rather them finish the current plans for D2, call it done, and devote all their resources to D3, or scrap D3 and turn D2 into a fully live model in which they build the world of Destiny as a whole. I'm all for companies taking 3 to 5+ years to fully develop a game. However, It should be a focused 3 to 5 as we've seen with Anthem that even with a 7 year development cycle a game can turn out poorly. Bungie needs to look outward and inward to learn. They have lots of places to pull experience from and it's up to them improve.

                • I don't think their issues primarily stem from something such as them not "trying hard enough." Game development is hard, and, as is quite obvious, the community you work to please is pretty harsh. I think they're all working plenty hard, but what's lacking is better management. If the people managing the teams aren't able to prioritize fixes or features appropriately, or they blatantly ignore the community, or they have just plain been in the industry too long and have lost their passion for the work, those faults trickle down to the cogs doing the real work and manifest in the game itself. Bungie needs an upper management refresh, perhaps along with an overall size reduction to return to their glory days. Once your company grows to a certain size, that's when the work people are doing becomes less about the product and/or the big picture of what you're trying to achieve, and more about just getting paid. If your job is to come up with new shaders, that's all you have to care about. You don't have to care about what's going on with the story, or the raid teams, and I think Bungie is probably full of people in positions like that, resulting in a company that overall can't/doesn't see the big picture, and management that is unable to communicate it.

                • It’s not about how hard one tries. Every success came from hardworking while vice versa won’t necessarily be valid. A lot of times, it’s all about that one thing a company gets it done right the first time or a bunch of little things done right consistently so that customers/players continue to enjoy. iPod, Glock, Gore-Tex, Netflix, Corning glass, just name a few things people enjoy using.

                • The whole invitation thing shows they either don't care or are incapable of acting properly to issues. Coupled together with all the staff leaving recently it doesn't paint a great picture. Now would be a good time for another state of the game style thing like last time the game was in crisis. Just open up, take a second to explain why these issues are occurring and why they aren't fixed quickly.

                • What makes this even more sad is the fact that we know Bungie could do better. Destiny 1 is proof of this. That game does almost everything better than D2. Bungie knows what to do, but are not putting near as much effort.

                • While they may be working on things and doing tasks, it certainly does feel like they are not trying all that hard. Of course if they actually spent a little effort and actually communicated with the community, people would feel different. But they are dead set on sticking to their 'respond vaguely to 3-5 posts per week' plan and it isn't being well received

The problem is the one hit wonder they have in charge. He’s been screwing this game up since he took over before TTK. The bs started with them taking away primaries with burns without saying a word about it before TTK launched and it’s been one thing after another ever since. He helped create one good raid over 5 yrs ago, it’s time to stop giving him a pass for it and make him accountable for his decisions since VoG

                • When it comes to PvP they’re not trying at all. 0/10. At this point I may not may not purchase D3. I’m fvcking pissed that they’ve basically abandoned a game that isn’t even two years old.
