Hey all,
In today's TWAB, we brought some info from the team concerning Enhancement Cores, their role in Destiny 2, and what plans we're looking at for the future. If you haven't read through, I've quoted the information below. Please sound off with your thoughts and feedback!
Strengthen Your Core
As you make progress in Season of the Drifter, you’ll be making choices about which weapons and armor you want to power up first. We’ve been following the conversation around the use of Enhancement Cores for infusion. As a response, the Destiny Dev Team have some changes lined up that they want to share.
Destiny Dev Team: The goal of the infusion system is to create an impactful feeling of progression when you increase the Power of an item you enjoy using. An infusion system with no scarcity around the materials would diminish this impact. To that end, we tapped into a material with inherent scarceness, Enhancement Cores, to use as one of the keystone materials for this process.
That is the goal the infusion system, but if the overall system is causing a negative experience, we want to work to improve it. We’re constantly monitoring the infusion economy to see what kind of impact it has on gear usage. We keep a close eye on the amount of infusion materials being earned versus how many are being used and will continue to make adjustments as needed.
To that end, we’ll be making a change in Season of Opulence with the goal of providing more access to Enhancement Cores.
Scrapper Bounties previously dropped randomly when dismantling gear. There was no reliable way to earn Enhancement Cores using these bounties, and we didn’t feel they were providing enough materials. We will be deprecating these bounties at the start of Season 7. (Note that any unfinished Scrapper Bounties still in your inventory when the new season begins can still be completed before their natural expiration.) In their place, the Gunsmith will now offer a selection of daily and weekly bounties that can be purchased for Gunsmith Materials. As with the Scrapper Bounties, each of these will include, among other things, an Enhancement Core as a reward when completed.
Our hope is that this increased access and control over Enhancement Core acquisition will help improve the balance of materials being earned vs. materials being used. As always, we’ll be continuously monitoring this item economy, along with your feedback to assess its effectiveness.

14 RepliesSo.... what you are saying is you got rid of bounties that reward cores........and replaced them with gunsmith bounties that reward cores........ Am I missing something?
-
Why are we having this discussion now? What else should we say to Bungie so you folks can start doing something about this issue? If you still have no clear solution please bring back the old D1 raids and plant 10 of those Enhancement Cores in each chest. Prison of Elders may be another good option. Thank you.

This is not going to make me return to the game. Remove them from infusion, period. More bounties is just another slap in the face and another way to disrespect our time within the game. Enhancement Chores are just the tip of the iceberg with regard to the broken progression, lack of loot and issues with PvP matchmaking. 6-7 months of feedback and this is the Dev team’s response? You heard the feedback, however no listening took place. Every single suggestion I’ve read or suggested myself is better than this proposed “change”. I say “change” because this the same as before just slightly repackaged 🙄. Who runs this team? Zapp Brannigan? I honestly don’t care anymore though, I’m virtually done with the franchise. Haven’t played in 4 weeks. Unlikely to return. Even less likely to buy the next expansion or Destiny release. Thanks for the update dmg04 and your efforts in bringing the feedback to the team.

So get rid of scrapper bounties and just move them to the gunsmith. This won't work. You guys don't get it, you're paying way to much attention to the 'important descision' of infusing. Infusing gear was fine before the master work addition. People get enough excitement through just recieveing a powerful rng drop that fills the spot they need. This has to be the worst part of forsaken for a lot of people and you won't let it change
-
Bungie don't care because you people will still play their game. If you want change be serious about it and walk away from the game until they listen.
-
1 ReplyWow, this answer truly is in the “we’ve been listening but dont care” category. Still can’t think of a single thing that would cause me to pay another dollar to this franchise...
-
I approve, with 1 caveat: we need more space for pursuits.

Edited by score: 3/21/2019 10:53:50 PMI gotta ask man, why are you so hell bent on making PvE players play crucible?
-
Seems like the dev team is still trying to flog that dead horse for infusion. Remove cores from infusion. Allow people to masterwork and re master work their weapons.

1 ReplyI'm happy with this! I'm always at the tower; if I can grab a few bounties there for cores that is perfect - then if I need more for a specific something I can always waltz over to the Spider's den and double the haul. I hope there's going to be a wide assortment of bounties. Some days I just really don't feel like crucible, and same with strikes. It's nice to fade into the pve and chill occasionally.

4 RepliesHow do we get the community managers from anthem? They seem to actually listen and give info at a good rate

Edited by seether98: 3/21/2019 10:54:28 PMYou want to fix it? Change it back to the pre forsaken system. Plain and simple. You took an aspect (one of very few) that wasn't broken and you threw a wrench in its gears. Whoever was responsible for this and is still responsible for not changing is back 5 months ago needs their head examined. Im sitting out this season. When I want a destiny fix I go back to D1 and run heroic strikes. Makes me feel like a God. Far superior to D2.

Good start in the right direction. Thank you👍🏼

Using the weapons we love to lvl up and defeat enemies makes a impact on us but using a -blam!-ing hand cannon in the thorn strike just because idh cores to infuse it with a weapon i love to use all the time makes it a negative impact on me an maybe other ppl to. You got ppl using a freaking bow in gambit all for some lil points to hardly rank up an get a low lvl piece of gear for the hopes of getting a god roll weapon from a bounty.
-
Thank you guys for at least trying to improve the situation. I do disagree with cores as infusion materials instead of masterworking materials, but I appreciate the fact that you are attempting to work with the community on fixing things. I can't comment further because I have yet to try the "improvement" you came up with. I look forward to giving the new bounties a try.

Bungie literally throws a bone... after months of complaining they come up with a neat text and an announcement to '"change" sth. in 2 months. Well, seems to be enough for the unambitious players still working (no, its not playing :)) this game.
-
This is a good start. Hopefully Banshee will have a decent amount of bounties that aren't super tedious to do. If you're taking suggestions. Have them be a random reward from Heroic Public Events or maybe just the Flashpoint zone for the week. It'd get more guardians back in the wild again. Patrols are so lonely sometimes.

Alongside gunsmith bounties you needed to lowered the cost for master working or allowed infusion for 500 glimmer on guns of the same class, rather than identical weapons... would save some cores, allow build diversity and add variety and fun.. A lost opportunity today to bring the community back onside.... disappointed.
