It's called "Season of the Drifter" because it makes the playerbase drift away

EDIT: I'm laughing at all the screaming pissbabies in the comments. "YOU JUST ARENT GOOD AT GAMBIT!!!!!!!!" And I don't care to GET good at it because it's a boring ass mode that nobody plays properly. "JUST GO PLAY OTHER GAMES!!!!!!" Why should I have to? I bought Destiny 2 because they promised it would expand on and take feedback on Destiny 1 into consideration during development and I loved Destiny 1. Why should I say "lmao okay bungie have my money for free and don't give me the game you sold to me, it's okay"? I want Destiny 2 to be the best it can be and it objectively is not. "IT TAKES TIME TO DEVELOP NEW CONTENT AND THE ANNUAL PASS WAS UNDER ACTIVISION!!!!!" And they could have released a community announcement stating that they will release what was already done under Activision because it's already been paid for but there will be a big new update that will be essentially a new expansion coming later on. Instead, with everybody watching and waiting to see what would happen, they release more Gambit and go back to radio silence as usual. You kids are junkies. You're addicted to Destiny's grind because you've already put so much time in to it that you can't bare to admit you weren't having fun, and so you're letting Bungie continue to exploit you for more cash instead of doing what sane people would do and demand to be treated like an actual customer instead of a crack whore to a pimp. Look around, the community is in uproar, even with your vote bombing any negative threads like mine, they still come out with hundreds if not thousands of up votes because the community is sick of this shit. We want things to improve, and if you want to continue being spoonfed garbage every few months, you're part of the problem. Instead of letting Bungie step all over you, imagine how much fun you'd be having if every update was a Taken King or a Rise of Iron or vanilla Forsaken. That's what Destiny 1 was, not this "annual pass" shit. And if Bungie isn't going to make it clear they intend to change for the better, they have not once given us any reason to give them the benefit of the doubt. So go ahead, keep screaming and whining at me for saying what you think deep down but are too addicted to admit it. I paid for the pass, I'll play it off and on until I feel like I did enough with it to not feel like I got completely scammed, and then if Bungie doesn't end the year on a high note I'll abandon it to the trash that deserves it. ------------------------------------------ What the actual F*ck were you thinking, Bungie? No. Seriously. What the actual F*CK??? This is it? This is your triumphant post-Activision update? This is what you have to show everybody who has ever given you the benefit of the doubt and believed it was Activision's greed that made Destiny 2 such a slogfest of pointless tasks and meandering chores as opposed to feeling like we're participating in an actual world with stuff going on in it? Gambit. Yet another re-hashed exotic from D1. And a horde mode. That you have to play gambit to access. How about instead of wasting your development time and budget on match-based modes NOBODY asked for, continuously adding more and more versions of those modes NOBODY asked for, and then forcing people who don't want to do them to play them for quests and exotics, you actually work on providing us with new zones to explore, new enemies to fight, a new threat to fight against, and then focus on the modes you ALREADY HAVE and balance them, improve them, make them BETTER so people actually don't mind playing them for quests every now and then? Forsaken was such a promising start. New big threat, new zone, new story, new enemies...and then it crashed and burned the moment you hit endgame, and instead of working on fixing that and expanding on the huge foundation you just laid for yourselves you decided "you know what would be great? If we ignored EVERYTHING we just did and made people play gambit more." What the f*ck is wrong with you people? This isn't the company that made Halo, this isn't the company that made Taken King and Rise of Iron. This is a company that doesn't know what the hell to do with itself, a company that spent too much time under Activision's thumb and ended up thinking like their executives instead of game developers. You people are an indie studio with legions of people ready to throw money at you for something, ANYTHING worth playing. The sky is the limit for you guys...and you make more gambit. Bungie, you need to make changes and you need to make them fast. From what I can tell you are fast losing the good will you garnered by leaving Activision and once that's gone you'll have nothing left. I love Destiny, but the game you currently have available to play is objectively not Destiny. It has the same name and setting, but it is not Destiny. Whatever is at the end of this "annual pass" (stop using that -blam!-ing term, you shouldn't be making "annual passes", you should be making expansions) better be incredible. It better introduce a new zone, with new enemies, an engaging story, a slew of balance changes and QoL improvements, content that builds on the foundations Forsaken left, a solid end game loop that people want to keep coming back to instead of endlessly grinding piece by piece to hit max power level only for there to be nothing to do with it, because that's not an end game. Because if not, you won't have a playerbase anymore. You'll have a few die-hard fanatics who are so brainwashed by your grind machine that they'll do anything and say anything to protect their precious addiction, a game that people won't even be able to talk about the good times without feeling a taste of bile in their mouth, and a looming bankruptcy filing. But hey...at least you got people to play more gambit, right?

  • The Dark Below looks amazing now doesn't it? Is there any actual expansions coming later in the year? Or is D2 done with that?

  • I agree.. this is the very same reason I quit for about 7 months came back played The Forsaken... Loved it and thought Bungie is back baby.... Then I got suckered and bought the annual pass and now I see myself quitting again for a while maybe even going back to CoD (if that tells you how bad I think D2 is at the moment lol) Again I lost faith in Bungie and see it isn't really going to change anytime soon.. Again I agree with you but however unless you post this on Reddit or unless you are a Twitch streamer or youtuber that PR's D2 for Bungie I don't see them listening or even acknowledging this post or any other complaint post ever put on this forum.. Sorry guys it's Bungie's way or the highway... Sad but True!

    • The split was literally 2 months ago. By that time, Season of the Drifter was basically set in stone. Literally no one could overhaul on that kind of a time crunch. Annual Pass pt 3 (Season of Opulence?) Could prove slightly differently...slightly. But to expect a major course correction before Annual Pass is done is simply unfeasible. That being said, they have a solid 6( debatable 9) month window to overhaul the mysterious September Expansion™. Even if you don't play much, your eyes will be on it. That's where I'm expecting the Post Activision changes to be evident

        •
This is it? This is your triumphant post-Activision update?
To be fair, (no matter what your personal opinion is of this season's update) this was in development long before Bungie and Activision made the split. Whether you like the content or not, it can't be used as a true example of a post Activision Bungie as it was in development before Bungie was on their own.

        • I’m guessing you have the brain capacity of an apple so let me put it nice and slow for ya. This contents was finished before the bungie - activishion split. Season of Opulence will be more bungie bacause there’s more time for them to change it. Also, try thinking before writing and making yourself look stupid next time. Have a nice day.

          • In my estimation...it takes about a year and a half to develop anything. I read the forums and I’ve seen some ideas come out a year and a half after it was posted. Major changes and development doesn’t happen overnight as much as we all would want it to pop out like pancakes. Maybe smaller requests can happen, but major changes take time. Bungie is probably still polishing their strategy and development path for Destiny 3—So, that’s why I’m posting some things I wish to see in D3 right now. When producers wanna buy a screenplay...they usually shop around a year before production. Then, if the project is lucky, it will be a year to three years before you see it within theaters, “if it’s lucky”, sometimes they just become bought and end up on a shelf collecting dust, producers have the attention span of a goldfish lol. Before a movie comes out...sometimes they take around a prior eight months to view it to private theaters that important producers, guilds, or directors own (George Lucas has a private invitation only theater that he generously lends for this purpose, some of the original T-Rex stuff from the original Jurassic Park flick just sits there) for a “for your consideration” academy or any award. My gym buddy talked about these things because he used to work in the movie industry and I felt like there’s a synonymity between Bungie production and Film. Is Synonymity even a word?, lol! If you guys really love this game, give the Devs or their Directors time, because they probably have problems organizing their development. There’s also something called: inter-office politics which can be a nightmare. Imagine trying to tame a game company with many cogs and gears, and those cogs and gears need to synchronize into one rhythm. Patience my young Padawan, patience. Lol Nice post. Have nice day. 👍🙂 ~Leone

          • No, you -blam!-ing twink.
This is it? This is your triumphant post-Activision update?
You literally don't know how development works do you? This was in development during the Activision partnership, and they stated that everything planned prior to the split will still occur. Get over yourself.

            • I’m certain that the design team for the new versions of Garbage - aka Gambit - started by taking a huge dump on the table and using that to inspire their worst ideas. Seriously - if you wANTED to design a worse mess, it would he hard to top with what we have now. Oh oh. But grind for that magic armor in Reckoning that will make it all work. Right. More like the streamers will “show” us how amazing it is - when it’s dirt. Overpowered insanity is the word for enemies now. What other boss fight has the enemy blasting you with a one shot during the damage phase? And why bother if the invader resets your damage anyway? D U M P of C R A P should be the name of this game.

            • Are you talking about "Season of the Drifter" or "Season of the Forge?" Because Season of the forge made me forge a path into playing Crucible and nothing else.

            • I agree with alot of your remarks. Not that I want to defend Bungie, however, if they did add a new end game that would take dedicated players what 2 days to complete? Then what? I also love team play and this REQUIRES team play/work more than anything I have ever seen in a multiplayer pvp/e platform. More is yet to come in the Drifter universe, I think even a new area to explore and a whole back story on the Drifter. Didn't he use to go by another name? I think we will get some story on that to come, I'm excited!

come on, pal, do you honestly believe Bungie is gonna the time out of their day to read your little essay here, specially when you’re dropping F-bombs left and right? how about we stop screeching at them and come up with constructive ways to fix the game instead? i know it feels like they are not listening, but trust me, a thread like this isn’t gonna win you any favors either.

              • To be completely fair bungie split after they had developed everything for the season and while yes they’ve been liberated and whatnot they can’t just scrap the only thing they have for the community because then people will stop playining. Another thing to mention is that I remember seeing a bungie guy (the one named Zach or something) say something about a bungie created roadmap would be exciting or something. Regardless company’s make these things months in advance.
