We want to play your game. Not watch streamers play it for us. This kind of secret puzzle is great as a hidden element inside a release, but terrible as the only content of a release. Even as a "micro-release" this is a waste of everyones time. Your twitch viewership does not actually influence how we play this game. This is beyond disapointing. Your drip feed of season pass content is proving to be a terrible experience. Please stop telling us how you want us to play your game and let us experience it for ourselves.
Edit #1 - A divided response. Thats great, and expected, it keeps the conversation moving forward. Please keep it civil, we're all here because we love this game and expect big things from it.
Edit #2 - As of 5pm PST yesterday Bungie has decoupled the puzzle completion from the final forge access based on community feedback. Thanks to your support, they heard us, and responded by allowing everyone access to the content. I think this is a win for the community and fingers crossed, this debacle will influence how they roll out future content.

I will keep it as civil as possible. I heard the argument "I paid money for this content" couple times already and I honestly laugh at your 2.50USD (1/4 of 1/3 of season pass) you keep defending so vehemently, while living in a country where it is actually way more money than it is in US. In my opinion Niobe Labs puzzle definitely has its flaws, most notably the fact, that you need to repeat all bypasses before reaching the one you actually need to solve for the first time in just 60 seconds or so, but the idea itself is great and it doesn't take away money paid from the customer, even though many people are trying to make it feel that way. And I would feel sad and ashamed to be part of community which prevents such events from happening in the future. I hope Bungie doesn't feel discouraged from making similar, more polished versions of this event in future DLCs and I can say for myself, that I couldn't care less whether one part of one DLC becomes accessible on tuesday, wednesday, thursday or any other day of given week, because such a short amount of time means nothing in lifecycle of looter shooter MMO game such as Destiny. For everyone who would like to brand me Bungie apologist, I would like to point out that I actually disliked D2 at release and have 300+ hours played in Warframe :D. But the game is improving and I call Niobe Labs puzzle event one of the improvements. My beef with Black Armory is just accessibility in general, meaning I would appreciate all of its content to be scaled down 15 light levels or so, otherwise, job well done ... especially compared to what vanilla had to offer in sense of replayability ... which was very little. I have mixed feelings regarding 4th forge unlock decoupling from the Niobe Labs puzzle, I understand that Bungie themselves acknowledged the clues were insufficient, which scaled difficulty of the puzzle up, in user unfriendly way, but I feel like it took away importance of something which was meant to be important and I wouldn't mind if 4th forge was unlocked by the first fireteam to solve the puzzle, as it was originally meant to. PS: sorry for any grammar mistakes I possibly made, I'm not native english speaker

Can we remove this post yet?

8 RepliesEdited by Top_Hat_forever: 1/9/2019 7:46:28 PMI too am tired of the streamers dictating the game , if this continues they can let the streamers buy their game and see how much money they make for them, I for one do not see a Destiny 3 in my future. I am tired of the game designers letting the 10% streamers make the game for the other 90% of us.

1 ReplyYou don’t have to stream the game to solve puzzles. I don’t have to stream legend of zelda to beat a dungeon, dunno where all this comes from.
-
16 RepliesShort version: By listening to a few streamers you've ruined this game for a million active players.Well done, Bungie
-
Catering to streamers brings advertisement, and advertisement brings money. As usual, their bottom line supersedes their customers and the quality of their products. A pathetic greedy company whose failure is so obvious that even Activision cut it off. This is the demise of Bungie.
-
I like that Bungie is trying new things. I don't like that the new things they're trying is only meant to please streamers.

1 ReplyThis event is trash. Symbols are trash. Puzzles are trash. We want to shoot things in this FPS game. This was the most cringe event ever, what an epic failure.
-
Compared to misrably the expansions where we received all the content up front have failed this dlc style is a huge improvement. In the future, with better planning, a drip of content each week or two could keep the excitement going for far longer than an huge upfront content drop.

18 RepliesEdited by TWiZTD DeFauLT: 1/9/2019 9:54:39 AMI won’t ever sit and watch a twitch stream. I’ve got too much going on in my life that if I have some time to spend, I’m going to actually play the game myself. I honestly don’t get people that sit and watch a neck beard streamer in their mother’s basement play the game instead of doing it themselves... what’s worse is paying these plebs too... What’s worse is that Bungie got all those plebs in a room, listened to them and created content that suited them, not the other 99.99999999% of the player base.

Edited by IAGNRG: 1/10/2019 10:54:12 PMYou May feel this way, however I do not. I enjoy watching the community come together to figure out puzzles. I was working at it myself, I watched streamers, I play the content that is now unlocked. Stop acting like the voice for all.

3 RepliesThe following seven deadly sins have been identified by the gaming pope: (1) Not supplying the right type of virtual meth on patch day. (2) Expecting players to engage with people they have no intention of interacting with, while interacting with Destiny in other ways than playing it. (3) Creating a competitive puzzle that is not inclusive, i.e. solo players are out from the start. (4) Creating a competitive puzzle that requires items players may have skipped unknowingly and are now out as a result, even though they would like to be in. (5) Putting content in sequence that could have been in parallel. (6) Vague PR leading to everybody imagining what the content drop will be; far from reality that is. (7) Calling a group of people the best and the brightest other than your entire playerbase.

How is this a win for the community? Oh content is too hard, just give it to everyone. Sounds like destiny 2 year 1, where the hardcore players where done after a month and the casuals went away to play other stuff like usual after 2 months because they wont do raids and other endgame. Joy that was.

3 RepliesThis is why I never bought Forsaken and gave up my false hopes in December. I wanted to see the fuss about Niobe so I logged in. Bungie has lost their ability to seemingly find a middle ground between the casual gamers and the hardcore gamers. Rise of Iron was not without its faults, but hot damn if it wasn't a better overall experience than anything D2 offers. D2 Y1 was extremely silly due to being insanely simple. You didn't even have to do endgame content to get the best weapons. Just fire up a patrol until you got enough tokens. Now Y2 sees the exact opposite yet still silly offerings. To get anything remotely worthwhile, you must grind like crazed junkies jonesing for a fix. The sad part is that all of it eventually falls victim to the PvP playerbase of which most can't accept they just aren't as good as they think they are. It may be an EA game, but I'm seriously pulling for Anthem. Maybe, just maybe, it'll be enough for Bungie to get their crap together and give Destiny a proper installment and ending the franchise, and the fans, deserves.

Can we get more midgame content like how Border Lands 2 did DLCs?
-
Don't know about you, but once the forge was unlocked I spent a lot of time playing the game.

look man I'm all for puzzles and shit. but this aint destiny. unless youre a streamer or have 24 hours a day to play youre not getting this done. hows that good for casual players or people that cant play that long. And before someone says I'm a casual I'm a day 1 alpha player. And to even get a lfg group or clan members to stay on for hours and hours to do this puzzle is impossible unless you're a streamer. Seriously believe bungee are catering towards the streamer players root. Don't like the root there taking destiny my opinion of course
-
10 RepliesActually I here because when I buy a new car I drive off in it right then. When I go out to eat my food gets eaten while it's still hot off the grill. If I put money in a vending machine I get something right then. This is like showing up for a kidney transplant and the doctor telling you we thought it would be fun to hide it some where in the hospital. But as soon as you or anyone else here finds it we'll start your surgery.

8 Replies1. You don’t have to watch streamers... 2. You could always try it yourself... I swear this community is full of entitled man babies... I still haven’t dodged 200 lightning strikes in FFX to get Lulu’s weapon and I paid for the game. No one back then cried “I paid for the game I should be able to get everything”...
-
So don't watch streamers, play it yourself u lazy git.

Firstly, you don't speak for all of us. You were not chosen as a community spokesperson. Don't hold your opinions up to be treated as everyone's opinion. this type of hyperbole is detrimental to a "civil" conversation, so don't do it. Secondly, I've enjoyed it. Grindy? sure, but that's what I asked for. I want too much to do. I want to have options. The amount of things i have on my to do list in D2 is huge and growing. This is a good problem to have. I don't need to be a streamer to enjoy content. I also don't need to keep up with how fast streamers complete content either. I have never been a day 1 raider, and I'm fine with that. The content will still be there when I am ready for it, and being able to look forward to it is great!

All puzzles are easy.....when you've got all the answers, unfortunately we didn't have them.
-
Arguably, the concept was okay. The issue was a vast overestimation of their players
