Who remembers when destiny was supposed to be pve oriented with pvp as a simple side activity? Pepperidge farms remembers

Exactly why I’m looking forward to Anthem, I know, I know EA is the publisher which I’d be daft for not saying gives me concern. But so far they appear to be staying out of the games development. Games gunna be PVE orientated no PVP at launch let alone the first year of the game of at all, no lootboxes there’ll be cosmetics you can buy but nothing that tips the game in your favour etc. The games going to be getting weekly content updates for the first year ranging from character missions to new ‘strike’ like missions. I enjoy D2 but it’s def a game that feels like you need to play ‘all’ day’ to get any progression.

I’ve seen the preview for the game. Is there a option to FP or is it gonna be strictly TPS?
-
Edited by Leo687: 9/28/2018 10:26:31 AMSo far as is known they’re playing with the idea of giving you a changeable camera angle so far it’s only real one is TPS but some guns when used will take you into a FP.
-
Hmm...I don’t mind TPS but I prefer having the option to move into FP for some things. I’ll probably see how Anthem is received when it releases before I decided on buying it. Bungie has kinda cured me from buying any video game product before it has been live for a while.
-
like I Said some guns will allow you to move into a FP view and TPS is only for out in the world. When you’re in Fort Tarsis (the single player hub section) you’ll be in FP.

Heh, man. Ya see this exact statement on the forums of every online multiplayer game that has both pve and PvP aspects. The simple fact is, PvP brings a butt load of people to the player base. PvP sustains a population between pve content releases, and that's just what it takes to maintain large games like Destiny. It's never going to change, ever. PvP is here to stay, and the carebears will be forever mad about it.
-
The simple fact is that people probably didn’t even know this game had pvp till the beta was released. Prior to the open beta of 2014 this game showed no pvp in anything advertisement related to it, I know I certainly never saw anything pvp related. Fast forward a few years and a second title in and pvp seems to dictate a majority of changes made to all aspects of this game. That’s not how it should work. This game needs a line of separation. Until that comes Bungie will always force this “one side or the other talk” and this game will always have balance issues and people pissed off because of those balance issues. Pvp and Trials have caused a lot of problems for this game. That won’t change until any and all whine for changes in that side of the game stops screwing over the other half of it.
-
no one remembers, because that is a false idea people who don't like PvP invented.
-
Didn’t even know Destiny had a crucible until 2 months after the d1 launch.
-
I remember the forums before s*** posts like this showed up everywhere I looked.
-
Getting likes, not exactly a shit post
-
i dont take either side on this topic but... he is technicaly correct... it can be a shitpost and still have a lot of upvotes dont confuse a POPULAR opinion with an opinion that is well thought out and probably a better one... only because the internet gives you acknowledgement doesnt mean its good...
-
Fair enough.
-
I don't, I bought D1 thinking it was a PvP game with a crappy story.
-
This^
-
That was never officially stated, only said by pve players on the forums. If you can’t remember the beta had PvP in it .
-
Yes...it did...but e3 destiny 1 HEAVILY promoted that its a quest based coop game with pvp as a side activity.
-
No was never called a side activity. They promoted the story cinematic etc etc like any game does, have you ever seen a cod trailer, yet cod is all about multiplayer.
-
Edited by joey big guns: 9/28/2018 3:28:48 AMCoD spends more time showcasing their multiplayer side than they do showcasing their story mode because they know it sucks and people don’t buy their game for the story, which is probably why they’ve jumped into the Battle Royal bandwagon. The story gets a trailer initially, after that it’s all multiplayer updates nothing ever happens to the story, it doesn’t get expanded on. Well, it has been years since I owned one but as far as I recall the actual story, not zombies, was never expanded on after the game was initially released, or am I wrong. Destiny as far as I recall prior to the beta of 2014 never showed anything about pvp. I didn’t even know pvp was in the beta till it was almost over. As far as the game went it really felt like they had shit for pve because of their shake up and pvp was slapped together and just tossed out as a “play me till we can figure out wtf we’re doing over here”. The problem is that the pvp side of the game has dictated a majority of the negative changes to PvE in the name of “balance” or as I like to call it, “making all the little pvp 👶 happy”. A line of separation is needed and has been needed for over 4 years. Bungie refuses to do this and because of their refusal to separate the two modes( I know, it creates too much work for them🙄) their game and player base has suffered. Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of folks on the PvE side with their sensitivity levels dialed to MAX but you gotta be smoking some superb green if you think that PvP hasn’t been a thorn in this game’s side since the first round of whiny nerfs were begged for in 2014.
-
PvP is the only thing that has kept the game going during content droughts.
-
And it’s also one of the things “killing it” for a lot of other people.
-
Lol. If you only play this game for pve content, I’m surprised you haven’t moved on to other games that do it a lot better.
-
I don’t mind pvp. I’m not addicted to it nor would I bat an eye if it were removed. It’s part of the game, I play it when I feel like. It doesn’t change the fact that a line of separation is needed since the folks that frequent that mode can’t stop complaining about everything and anything needing nerfs everyday, every week, every month for over 4 years since those whiners got their NerfTrain rolling in 2014. PvP causes unnecessary changes to both sides. Why should both sides of the game suffer because one group takes things too seriously? I’m not a fan of mass punishment. You shouldn’t be either.
