Ace of spades Invader kills is stupid

So first off, I’m not thinking about winning or motes, I need these 5 kills of invaders with a hand cannon so as soon as I hear we are invaded, that’s all I care about. Secondly, a lot of invaders just hang back with sleeper or whisper. Also you can’t see them unless they are in plain site and they can see me at all times. I’m meant to close the gap with a hand cannon how? Thirdly, they also get an overshield. Stupid. Quest. Requirement. It just isn’t fun and I’m not worried at all about helping my team win, I just want these 5 kills. ——————————————- *edit* After a couple hours I had one kill. Problem was most invaders were using sleeper which is an easy one hit kill. That along with having an over shield and using other more powerful weapons or my team mates getting the kill instead with sleeper or finishing off my work, it was really dragging. Then in one game I just spawn camped one invasion spot (and didn’t bother with our prime evil) and lucky for me they kept spawning there with me behind them. The invaders were obviously even worse than me. I’d grenade their overshield and crimson them. Ended up getting 4 in one game to finish it off. It’s made me horribly bored of Gambit. Is that really how they want people to play to do these quests? Just like I kept leaving crucible over solstice if there wasn’t enough time for another super when I needed super kills or when I needed my 5 wins, if my team was doing really badly, again, I’d just leave. I’ll get my 25 head shots in crucible ok, but yuck, hated that Gambit bit. • There's only like three places an invader can spawn in. Keep the PvE enemies on one side of you so if you see red on the radar it has to be the invader and sort of work your way around the map in a circle looking at each spawn. Watch the kill feed so if a teammate goes down you can find the skull that marks where they died. This will narrow down where the invader is. Since the invader will have an over shield and probably heavy ammo, make sure you have cover around you when searching for him then just peak in and out of cover with a handcannon. It's not that hard people. Just need to use a little brain power. Hope that helps.

  • When I got my kills the invaders ended up coming to the middle. Some did sit in the back but when they started aiming at teammates I ran up to them and killed them with my crimson. Other times they tried running in with a sword. Again I melted them with the crimson lol. I tried camping in the buildings and waiting for them but it didnt work. Randoms seemed to kill them before I got to them. I played the objective but whenever a blocker or primeval came out I made sure I was ready for the invader. I killed all the ads before the invader came. But I made sure that I was in the same spot when they came over to our side, between spawn and the place where the primeval spawned. That way I got a really good view of the map. I didnt have to turn all the way around to look for the invaders, just left and right. Then when I saw them I sprung into action making sure I got in close to get the kill. I'm not that good at pvp either. I was 0.75 in competitive last season.

  • its not clear if you need to invade or kill invaders, either is frustrating as when i do invade they instantly know where i am and when we get invaded my team instantly blows up the poor person with colony

  • My only problem with it is that it said "invasion" kills which makes it sound like you invade and get kills and I got like four and I got pissed because it didn't count/

    • I'd rather chew glass than play PvP. It shouldn't be a requirement for quests. It's the least played game mode.

    • I had no problem with the gambit kills got it done in 2 games. No offense but it’s not bungies fault you can’t get the kills.

    • It’s not that unreasonable, it’s not supposed to be an easy quest, it’s not supposed to be easy to kill invaders, also if you are paying attention and actively trying to avoid sleeper you won’t get hit. Stop complaining if it’s too hard for you then don’t get it. I’m not good at crucible and I managed to get it, if you can’t handle the grind I would suggest that you play a different game.

      • Hate to say it on this one, but really. Git gud. You will get the kills eventually. And making the game EZ mode is what drove people away to begin with so keep that in mind when you complain something is too hard

I got that right away 5 kills was hard since it had to be the invaders but you know what i didnt camp and still got those kills and you know what what i earnd really good gear while at it so gambit was fun for me, but i do understand your pain on trying to get those kills with a handcannon.

I feel bad for the solo players that are going into Gambit trying for this quest. It def helps if youre in a clan or play with other players regularly. My clan helped each other out last night basically surrounding the invader and the person that needed the kill finishes him off with their hand cannon. I haven't finished it yet since i haven't really had time this week to really grind but i think its a really good quest step! its caydes hand cannon, u didn't think bungie would just hand it to you?! Quests like this is what makes me lobe destiny 2 cause the grind is real. i like being sweaty grinding out these quests lol. Idk why ppl are complaining, im not surprised their complaining just surprised ppl arent good at getting hand cannon kills. Ive realized destiny 2 is def a clan based game and it makes the game a lot more enjoyable when u can play with ppl every time you log in. I recommend all the solo players to get into a clan because it really helps in the long run.

        • I already know I'm not getting this quest done because I'm not a fan of hand cannons to begin with. I absolutely -blam!-ing hate the quests that require "x" weapon type. Same reason I never got the Chaperon in D1 because it wanted you to use shotguns. I refuse to play a way I don't find fun for an exotic, so the Last Word can well and truly suck it, I'd rather not have it than have a bad time trying to get it.

        • OK, so , I did this, and it was bearable but heres what you need to do: go to collections and take out a new sturm and drang, equip them and go into gambit, switch to drang, kill about 8-10 things, now heres the secret: When someone invades, if you have motes, the invader sees a banner over your head, telling him where you are. if you have 0 motes you do not get highlighted for them. IF YOU WANT TO GET THIS STEP YOU MUST AVOID PICKING UP MOTES. AS SOON AS AN INVADER APPEARS, SWITCH TO STURM you WILL NOT be his first target, he'll fire on someone with motes, LOOK FOR THE KILL, spot the invader, and flank him, 3 strum head shots = kill took me 5 games after i figured it out. oddly enough. we won every game.

        • Wont be getting D3. I had hoped that after Years of people complaining about having quest steps forcing people to do PvE or PvP that they would have looked to other games and realise they need to make TWO ROUTES to getting the content. Love the way the ornament for Ace was a preorder bonus too, really clever idea for a gun a lot of people wont be getting. It’s not a question of player skill, but basic common sense in games design. Cant wait for co-op only Anthem, surly there wont be PvP quest steps in that?

        • Personally I do not like hand cannons I never use them I used the crimson since it is the easiest to use, and got lucky and completed my challenge within a match. I thought i would have more trouble with it, and Kind of screwed my team while on it, but whatever. Tip I can give Is to not chase the guy let them come to you, also do not pick any core, normally I just see them go after whoever has some or whoever is nearby. Use a handcannon you are confortable with, I used crimson. Do not engage immediately as you see them obviously 1v1 you are gonna get destroyed. When you see the person start engaging your mates, turn their back on you, or you see them with at least chuck of their overshield off then you shoot them. And then you profit. This is all I can think of. It worked for me.

        • So I finished the campaign with a buddy, both of us excited for the ace of spades, then figured we wouldnt have to land a killing blow but like pvp just get a few shots and help take down an invader. We figured it was a glitch at first because we worked with the whole team to take them down. Then found out we need to get a killing blow. We tried to alternate, but then in three games in a row (not rounds, but games) no one invaded us. Turns out you dont need to invade to win the game. So what happens if both sides refuse to invade? How do we progress through the quest if no one invades let alone get a killing blow? Bungie: here is your suggestion instead of making it a killing blow requirement and forcing players not to play naturally (aka instead of going after an invader with something that no one would normally go after them with... a hand cannon, go after them with a grenade launcher or fusion rifle), make it participating in a kill. If thats too few games, make it win 5-10 matches. That would make not only the quest a great deal more enjoyable as it is less stressful than competing with others to get a kill on an overshielded enemy that may or may not even invade! 25 precision kills with a hand cannon also seems like a tall order, but much more achievable thru regular play than this ridiculous kill invaders step.
