To any reader or Bungie employee that is willing to give me a short moment of your time:
I’m sure you are aware of the grind and rewards in Solstice of Heroes, and how the Legendary Armor, the main draw for the event, will be near worthless in Y2 once Forsaken comes out because it will not have perks.
I think it goes without saying that this is so underwhelming because of the work needed to be put in and the extreme focus dedicated to these items. They are supposed to represent our feats and dedication to the game in Y1, so why leave them behind?
The solution is easy, have it be upgradable to gain Perks.
This could be done through an item or resource that is used on the Collection-Friendly set that grants it random perks. This variant would not be in the Collections, but could be re-rolled again at the cost of X resource.
If some system is not put in place, the armor that the entire event is based around will be obsolete in less than a month.
Thank you for your time.
Edit: Anyone has an idea how to resolve this, post it below! The more eyes this thread and others like it get, the more likely things will change. Do I think Bungie will listen? Well....
Never forget the Broom Sparrow.
Edit 2: Some people have stated that Eververse and other Legendary armors should also get this treatment. I would have to agree, and it would be a huge benefit for player investment. You worked for what you wanted, and you should be allowed to use it.
Edit 3: Just got a like from Xûr, so exotic SoH gear w/ perks confirmed? /s
Also I never expected this to reach trending, now all we can hope for is that Dmg or Cozmo see this and respond in some way, even if it’s just “No”.
Any answer is better than nothing after all.
Edit 4: Reached 100 upvotes, still no response from Bungie. Sadly, at this point I don’t think they will respond due to the potential backlash the obvious “no” answer would receive. Best to wait after the event, am I right? /s
In all seriousness, please prove me wrong Bungie. I know you can do it.
Edit 5 (possibly the final): Well, looks like they are not going to respond. I have but one choice now.
Cozmo, Deej, and Dmg_04, I challenge you to the ways of old! Face me in the Crucible to decide the fate of this issue!
Worth a shot lol... I need sleep....
You guys knew this /thread

But the whole way to earn the armor is to play stupid missions from the game. It shouldn’t carry forward into year 2 because the grind was just boring. Once I realized we were doing old missions and other bull crap I dipped out.
-
1 ReplyNo reason why not, I see several people saying it's just a trophy set but so what? Not like it'll be better then forsaken armor, just on par with it, if someone wants to main the gear let them
-
Im not against the solstice armor getting the new perks when forsaken comes out.. it is neat armor. But for now I just see it as a buffer when the light level rises, and yes I said LIGHT level.. and it was more just something to do to hold people over during this dry period before the new DLC. But yeah.. would be neat if the armor we all worked hard did upgrade to the new system when it comes out.

1 ReplyAgreed. Don't let SoH be all for nothing
-
Yeah I mean because of my work schedule took me 2 weekends to get the purple. This was no easy grind though. Those missions were hard AF and I'm talking about when you re do them with the 350 armor. Man I absolutely hated the chosen mission dear God died so many -blam!-ing times
-
1 ReplySeriously Bungie you need to do this
-
-
2 RepliesI must disagree I’m sick and tired using the same reskins maybe this time they give us new armor and weapons
-
I want my Optimacy armor to have Year 2 perks since it's a unique set I've rolled with since S1 but it looks grim.

1 ReplyEdited by bandito--24: 8/14/2018 4:53:55 PMI agree, SoH armor should be upgradable to gain perks. I guess I am a fool grinding for useless SoH armor for my 2nd and 3rd characters. First time through on my Hunter was fun, but that last two was a tedious grind. Bungie has said they want our time to be respected, but they consistently pull this kind of crap. I do not see the point in collecting any sets going forward. My mistake. I should have known better and have no one to blame but myself.

2 RepliesAnd that’s why I haven’t grinded for it ha ha

I think I have a way to fix this, but idk. For anyone who has a character with legendary solstice armor, they could receive a Y2 version of that characters armor set from the postmaster once Forsaken launches. This version would start at 400 and be infusible up to the new max power level, as well as have perks. You would be able to reroll these perks using some form of currency (such as maybe legendary marks and/or glimmer).

Why haven’t I completed my 250 orbs yet?

1 ReplyIt is a trophy set of gear and Bungie giving the addicted something to do for a month when there is absolutely no reason to play. Working to make Destiny the hobby you deserve...... People like me need "Sucker" stamped on our forehead.

5 Repliesthe solstice armor has no infuse slot, so you won't even be able to raise it's light level, making the entire solstice grind an absolute waste of time. Think about it, if it was up-gradable, Bungee would have made this very clear, especially with the amount of times I've seen it raised here on the forums - the fact there's silence is just because if they did tell us now many people would rage at them and see this event for a useless grindfest I'd love to be wrong on this as I like the armor but nothing has given me any reason to believe otherwise!
-
Bungie please take some time to read and consider this.
-
I agree with the OP, and I do hope that some consideration is done in light of it. I, for one, love how the SoH Armor looks, and I truly hope we can carry that forward "effectively" into Forsaken and beyond. +1
-
Bungie could add perks to all the d2 vanilla armor right now, this instance, but chose not to due to lack of motivation. Bungie figures once the new armor drops with the new perks we will shed the old ones. If Bungie can carry over weapons like the Better Devils with new perks then so can the old armor. Its not rocket science, its just shear laziness.
-
I think all items should be able to be taken over. I want to be able to use any legendary armor piece without a disadvantage. I also want to be able to pur one of the new mods into the old legendary weapons.
-
All armour sets should be moved onto the new mod system. Crazy how lazy Bungie is but we accept it because they've been doing it for years :/
-
All y1 armor should get perks honestly. It’s stupid to make everything infusable but have it stay useless.
-
I don't think it should just be the solstice armor. It should be all of it. Every single end game in all of Destiny had boiled down to fashion for me and all of my friends. All the armors we currently have should get a randomly rolled bonus put on them, because any roll would be better than the nothing we currently have. If this happened maybe I would switch to newer armor sets, maybe I wouldn't but that's a choice we should be allowed to make for our characters.
-
Don’t fret about not getting enough time with this gear. This armor set along with every other item will be reskinned a dozen different ways and sold back to you repeatedly over the next several years.
-
1 ReplyDamn I didn't think about that! What a total waste of time if it can't upgrade to year 2..... Cosmetic set my ass - everything in this game is cosmetic and i think it looks awesome and wNt to use it for more than a week...!
