People will do what they want and eagerly proclaim that its their money and they can do what they want with it. They fail to realize the point of posts like this entirely. Its the principle of it all. Sure, you can spend money on the pre-order or in this case on a "big patch" that will "fix" a game you already spent $100 or so dollars on. All that's being asked with posts like these is that people realize what kind of message they are sending to the developers, publishers and gaming industry. Which is that its ok to create and release poor quality content and charge full price, while still holding content back behind paywalls no matter how small. So to all of the players who are blindly throwing money at games and developers who have proven to constantly disappoint it's community: Congratulation, you are the reason incomplete games in poor states like this exist that need to be fixed half way into its life-cycle to be considered a full game by normal standards. And the sad part is these players have already spend $100+ initially for the incomplete base game and season pass and they're ready to spend yet another $70-80. You do the math. People have paid nearly 200 bucks for d1 and will do so again for d2.

1 ReplyJust checked. You have 180 hours on D2 according to Wasted on Destiny. Assume you pre-ordered and paid ~$100 on D2. That's $100/180h or ~$0.56 per hour of play, and you spout nonsense about being ripped off by Bungie, using inapt metaphors about cars that you have to build and that breakdown. Frankly, it's embarrassing to read and should be embarrassing to type and submit.

Difference is a car will cost you 15,000 grand where as a DLC be it good or bad is only 40. Also another way to look at it is if I went out for one night, had drinks and a bit of food that alone would cost me 70 bucks where as with the DLC I'd get weeks of fun/joy out of it so it's up the individual what they do. Play on Player

Oh I'm sure this expansion will improve D2. How much it improves remains to be seen. And that is how I am approaching this expansion. Bungie will NEVER coax a pre-order from me again. They've shown time and time again they are either A. Lazy B. Incompetent and/or C. Nothing but greedy little gremlins who could care less about the quality of their product as long as it meets sales goals. If forsaken has been out long enough to test it's depth and by all accounts it's amazing, then I'll probably buy it. It's just sad that the entire time I'll be enjoying the expansion, I'll be wondering in the back of mind if it's all going to be completely undone again in the future. But pre-order? Nope. Not with anything that has bungie's name on it.

This is the exact same business model used for D1's development cycle, except they shelled out features already implemented in the first game and drip-fed them back over the course of a YEAR to get even near to where we were post-Rise of Iron in D1. People just keep rewarding this shit. New subclass shit and a new weapon type for $40. And go ahead and pay $70 to pre-order our next "DLCs" which will have as much content as a monthly -blam!-ing patch in other MMOs. It's like watching the same train wreck every time they release teasers. -blam!-ing hysterical.

Pre-ordering has had an ill effect on the industry. It allows for developers to half ass releases because the finished product isn't where primary sales come from. 15 years ago they'd never have gotten away with it. Release a broken mess, you go under. However, pre-ordering allows wonderful convenience. I know I'll get the base expansion. That decisions is made, whether it's to my detriment or not. It will be bought and downloaded, ready to play when I get off work. That means something to me, so it's my choice. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I am exited about forsaken but no way i am not gonna pre order! I just wait a few days to see how others here in the forum like it. Maybe i gonna buy it day one but NO PRE ORDER! i am tired of the hype
