I played Destiny for over 2000 hours, and as a fan of the original game I feel completely betrayed after playing the Destiny 2 beta. What set Destiny apart from other shooters was its diverse set of weapons and possible playstyles (not that they were all balanced, but this isn't an esports game).... Destiny 2 has removed a major part of what made the game special.
The PvP of Destiny 2 is a mutilated version of the original. There are no special weapons and heavy ammo is virtually nonexistent. Only one player can receive the heavy ammo from the drop locations.... so instead of being a team objective that rewards the team that controls that area or players who make a play at the right timing and retrieve it, it is now basically just a power weapon on the map with a couple of shots in it that can't even be stolen by the enemy after you die.... and additionally they are less powerful heavies than what we had in the original Destiny. Basically this just dumbs down the PvP gameplay even more and makes it less competitive.
Supers are now more powerful, less frequent, and easier to use.... Titans smash like 4 times, enough said. These changes to the supers from Destiny basically turns them into a brainless kill everything button instead of the strategic tools they were before, there is much less counterplay and its less interesting. To me it looks like an attempt to just satisfy and appeal to a younger audience, and by younger I mean children... more dumbed down gameplay.
All ability cooldowns are higher in Destiny 2 compared to the original. This gives players less grenades to worry about and our positioning on the map requires less thought, basically funneling the gameplay even further into just mindless primary weapon fire and cover peaking. The changes to weapon types and ammo already force us into this kind of gameplay and in addition to that close quarters combat has been hit hard. Melees deal less damage, all of the close quarters primary weapon types are awful, blink removes all HUD, didn't I already mention that specials and heavies pretty much don't even exist?
Nearly every change they have made to subclasses and weapons has reduced playstyle and weapon diversity drastically. Having 2 primary weapons is a really silly change as well because essentially its just a hotkey to switch primaries in your inventory without losing ammo. In Destiny you can literally just swap your primary at any point in the game, if they wanted us to have more ease of access with our weapons like that they could have just added a D-pad shortcut to weapon swaps and switched the emotes to some kind of emote wheel system.
Color damage in Destiny is a very boring and low effort system, if anything should have been removed in Destiny 2 it should have been color damage. When I say low effort I mean low effort, its like they couldn't think of any way to make the PvE content more interesting so they copped out and added color damage. Instead of giving us more content and different enemies and interactions with the game world they give us this boring matching game with shields and our guns. Instead of the game mechanics and PvE encounters encouraging us to think and choose suitable weapons and loadouts for the encounter based off of how they fight and the environment, we basically just get this brainless color system... that guy is blue? yeh u gotta use a blue gun buddy.
PvE in Destiny was already pretty monotonous, mindless primary weapon headshot grinding all day.... now we cant even break up that monotony with the occasional shotgun clip dump into their face or some peaceful icebreaker sniping because there are no specials, only heavies. If there was a heavy drop rate increase, I definitely didn't notice it. The increased ability cooldowns add to this as well, unless they get real creative with these missions (which I highly doubt after playing the original for so long) the PvE is pretty much going to be 99% of the time mindlessly dumping primary ammo into the same enemies over and over.
The only improvements to take away from this Beta to the original game were the visuals which I think are great, and the addition of weapon and armor specific skins with the legendaries... but honestly that doesn't really compare to any other games character customization at all. In other games there are transmogs and we can make our character look however we want with no restrictions, in the original Destiny we got hideous color palettes which we cant even create ourselves and a bunch of microtransaction outlets. And many many many many silly looking gaurdians when we should all be badass.
All in all this sequel is more of a glorified (and half-assed) expansion of Destiny than an actual sequel, which doesn't bring really anything new to the table.... just look at these sublcass trees.... it is pretty much all the same with some built in exotic effects from Destiny and less choices.
End Rant

Agreed inferior all around.

It's actually quite shocking that bungie have chosen to butcher such a superb and unique game, just to cater for a few cry babies that don't want to have fun and just want a really slow boring game. Then again it's bungie, so not that shocking really lol

1 ReplyThat wall could stretch across the US southern border twice.

16 RepliesWas I the only one who just scrolled down to the comments after seeing this wall of text?

So you are comparing 2000 hours of D1 game play with just a few hours of D2. Sounds like a fair comparison.

D2 gameplay just from the beta alone was so much better

6 RepliesWe don't really care, mate. If you don't like it, don't buy it. No need to tell us all about it.

2 RepliesEdited by Southern4x4: 7/29/2017 8:02:15 PMTLDR: "With only 2k hours played, I'm a noob with no clue what I'm talking about. I mean really... The Beta was terrible compared to the full game I've only played for 2k hours!"

Ahh so your 2000 hrs in D1 vs. your little miniscule taste of D2 content allows you to make rash assumptions of the overall game. Makes sense.
-
If you say so. This is, of course, your opinion.
-
Cool so don't buy it. End of story.

Edited by ChiefDemon159: 7/30/2017 7:24:22 AMYou can waste your time ranting all day and night OR you can do what matter most, not buying D2. Anyone not happy with how Bungie treat their customers but still buy the game are just encouraging bad behavior.

3 RepliesI covered all of this in my thread the other day... its a philosophical dumbing down on all levels for the sake of bringing in kids, casuals, positive review scores from critics who will only skim the surface, and for an half-assed atrempt to bring destiny into esports setting. Its a conflicting philosophy that is aimed at the lowest common denomenator and allienates most of the hardcore destiny playerbase. If you wanted to see them go deeper with RPG elements or anything that would be considered an expansion on the already simple mechanics of D1, you are going to be disappointed with D2. If you just want to mindlessly shoot shit, then D2 might be for you. Its not for me, and i'm a guy just like you: i put in over 2000 hours and played both pve and pvp and i have almost no inrerest in this watered down sequel. The only bit of interest that i have in it is that some of my friends are getting it regardless of these changes, and they were fun to play with. Not sure they can compensate for ehat the game is lacking though. So, i am not buying it.
I'm a casual with only 2000 hrs played...
Fixed it for you!

Spot on homie. I've put in a shit load of time (mostly on Xbox for those trolls checking stats JeremyFryar06) and still not as much as a lot of people as I am not a day 1 player, I'm a taken king player and it feels to me like everything that made Destiny Destiny has been removed or throttled in the name of esport.

Spot on Lenymo.........SPOT ON!

Agreed.

D2 is a step in the right direction. I can't wait for launch.

Ur inferior

2 RepliesMovement speed feels very slow to me, kinda awkward too. Anyone else get this? I didn't spend much turn on the beta, only a day or 2, but maybe I'm just not used to it yet.

5 RepliesI played the Beta for 6 days, so I know very well how it plays. People see it in "black&white" and A handful only bother to venture into the Grey zone. We only had a few of weapons to play with let alone 3 exotics, two of which were not worthy of even being exotic, but it wasn't enough for us to base how D2 is going to play out with JUST that. Sure we have two primaries, the primary now being kinetic weaponry and the secondary being energy based, but that's how they intended Destiny 1 to be, it's even evident in the E3 showcase for Destiny 1 that they had intended Shotguns and Snipers to be in the Heavy slot. The recharge rate for supers was INDEED very slow, though that gave me more of an edge to play it as a "last resort" if the situation got dire. Which I loved, because frankly i'm tired of people popping their super as a response of "panic". With this, we can't dish it out and can use our supers wisely and strategically. Some of the weapons definitely needed a damage buff, such as the sub machine guns and grenade launcher. The grenade launcher I found would shoot the infamous "Ghost Bullet". I do love how you can now add mods to your gear as well as equip a shader per piece of armor, give us more opportunity to look more badass. The PvP play is IN FACT more sweaty and FAST PACED, I'm happy people are now incorporating teamwork and no longer going solo. Though you CAN STILL SOLO an entire team, I have footage of my clan doing this at least once during the Beta. But is FASHIONABLE WARLOCK ARMOR HARD TO ASK FOR?! I mean jeez I thought the past 3 years were bland but this new armor makes Warlocks look like a hobo.

I would have thought the original destiny sucked if I had only 2 choices for each gun type and half my abilities.
-
They just need to be more careful. Too many changes is just that. Too many. If you fix everything that isnt broken......... Then you will break or ruin it and its a domino effect. Literally everything has been changed at this point. Whatever they do.. Please just get rid of last word and weapons like that lol. All of these primary exotic crutches can suck my left nt

1 ReplySorry man. But after playing D2 beta for the week then watching Gigz stream some D1 PVP on Friday morning. You can keep that shit show that is D1 PVP.
