The beta has plenty of threads going up at the moment. Most of them are people who accidentally took a shower in salt water instead of regular water this morning, but there is definitely plenty of feedback out there.
Regardless of the beta's issues (edit: I do think that the beta does have a few issues), are we all able to agree that the Homecoming mission is by far a step in the right direction for story missions?
There's actual cinematics, you can see NPCs fighting in-game, and you can even revive Commander Zavala if he dies.
And Ghaul seems like a pretty menacing villain already when compared to the lack of a "real" villain in Destiny 1's vanilla story. Edit: Not saying Ghaul is like an amazing villain, just saying when compared to D1 he's better.
Even if Destiny 2's story isn't anything groundbreaking, it already looks better then Destiny 1's story, in my opinion.
Edit: Not trying to say that it's the best mission in any game ever or something, just saying it's much better than Destiny 1.
Edit 2: A lot of people are getting the message that I think negativity is just salt because of my "took a shower in salt water" comment above. This isn't the case at all.
I'm all for negativity if it helps the game. The salt water comment was just a sarcastic joke about the people saying "F U Bungie, the beta is trash." That has no useful feedback whatsoever. The same goes for positive feedback. Saying "Fantastic beta Bungie, good job!" is nice and all, but it doesn't explain why the beta was good, thus it doesn't really have any feedback.
Multiple people now have misunderstood my original point, so I just wanted to clarify this. I don't think negativity is just salt, it was just a joke is all.

Yknow, I wish people would take a look at the light level of the enemy that killed you in pve.
It says 210 We're 200
Of course our weapons/abilities aren't going to do that much damage at that level. Wait until the full game comes out, and you're at 250 or something. Then you (might) see the difference.

2 Replies"Any negative criticism is merely unjustified salt given Bungie excellent track record of community support and listening to our ideas without filtering them through their own vision, anybody else here want to kiss some more Bungie ass?" Fixed it for you.

Playing really smooth for me today, still the best mechanics I've played in FPS world. And I love that I can run a hand cannon with a scout or auto! I always wanted more variety with primary weapon choices! I'm one of those who used snipers etc as a niche weapon and did not like going to character screen to go from scout to auto etc. And it looks great!! Also I worried with the huge variety of total weapons in destiny how they could do much new with weapons in D2 but the guns to me felt new and cool! Thus I'm excited for sept!

Edited by Lee Ames: 7/23/2017 8:24:30 PMIt does look very promising, but something concerns me. We've seen this before with the first missions in the original Destiny. Remember the fallen who crawled along walls and laid traps? Lets hope all the particle effects, rain, explosions and what not don't vanish from the rest of Destiny 2, like they did in Destiny 1. If the whole story stays as epic and intense as the Homecoming mission, then I'll be happy. Fingers crossed!

Nessus looks huge as well and it's not even the biggest map in D2. Can't wait.

I have never played a game against Space Hamsters (or Guinea Pigs) before. They arrive in their own Hamster (or Guinea Pig) ball And we have a Hamster (or Guinea Pig) Wheel that they can run in at the Farm.

6 RepliesSo just because I have feedback about the movment, It's ok for you to insult me and others? Why would I expect anything else
-
The story seems absolutely stellar I agree. The community isn't mad about the game as a whole, we're mad about very specific issues and we're being very loud about them because we desperately want them to change.

72 RepliesI see it as a super dumbed down story line, where there isnt going to be any thing to ponder, like The Darkness provided. Yes, the Darkness was obscure and obtuse, but it represented the things that we didnt know about a vast universe that were out of our realm of understanding. Gary, to me is the exact oppisite. Its basically "good guys vs bad guys" now.... and its gonna be utterly boring. D1 had us, at times, question which side of the good coin we were on. We used weapons obtained from the Darkness that were considered taboo to use, both in their flavor text and in the grimoire that supported them. There were tales of corrupted guardians and the lost light for reasons that didnt have to do with a big machine sucking the life out of the Traveler. D1s actual in game story was shit, but the lore that supported it was deep. Fast forward to D2 reveal and the buzz word of the day was "accessible".... which i have translated as: "easily digestible, trope ridden, dumbed down story for kids". Unfortunately, i disagree with the OP in thinking that it will be a better story.... it will just be a bunch of straightforward, predictible ideas, that will be made even simpler by the dialogue of the ghost or the new AI, failsafe. Tldr: its a kids game now.

Whoever wrote Gary-my bad, Ghaul's script is awesome.

3 RepliesI liked the story mission too. Feels like the campaign will be pretty cool. I'm actually more concerned about the gameplay. Far too slow, felt like I was slogging through mud. The 4 vs 4 PVP is pretty terrible too.
-
3 Repliesit's a step indeed.. but it's to early to say it's good. i hope there is allot of interactions, or atleast scenes that we see other npc's fight, and actually FIGHT!!!! not just some oooh look 5 enemies #shoots at them, wait nothing happens, suddenly ikora pops up and bam enemies down stuff.... it's nice, but it's not actually fighting, it's on rails, not interactive and it pulls you out of the flow of battle. #hold on gaurdian we need to show you an npc do some stuff before you continue. 2 seconds later the npc is gone, nothing really happened, i mean it didn't add anything to the fight, it also didn't add anything to my experience. YET! it's still too early to bash that stuff or praise that stuff.... ill just have to wait and see

This I can agree with. The story for destiny 2 looks very promising
-
4 RepliesYes, it's a step in the right direction. I imagine it doesn't stay that way, though. Otherwise we'd have a couple more missions in the beta. This beta is barebones as hell. I'm pretty sure it only exists as a marketing tool; not to get feedback on the game.
-
It was a snooze-feast. Sorry, but I didn't feel like I was part of what is happening. Follow the pointers. Shoot some stuff with a primary. Sit around and wait for your super to charge. I'm sure a 3 year old could do it. (not that I think little kids should start off with shooter games). I think the story missions will be ok for the most part. But I doubt there is an engaging story behind it. Music is kewl. Landscapes are kewl as long as you don't move too fast. It's funny when the psions bounce you up in the air. I love the grabbing ledges.
-
Yep, thought it was great. Can't wait to see the whole campaign. Looks fun!
-
2 RepliesCan't say it's bad, can't really say it was good either. Feels more like we went from negative to neutral in terms of quality. I still don't feel invested story and character wise.
-
1 ReplyThe graphics, and world design. They rest is AIDS. The main problem being the retarded weapon loadout.
-
D2 PVE content is going to be fun as hell I think. Really looking forward to it. Impressed with all the artists work and being able to explore more.
-
Compared to D1, massive improvement. Compared to other games, well, it isn't the best out there, but it's pretty ok. I'm satisfied.
-
3 RepliesIt's better, but that's not saying much. I don't like how the CS just seems to end without giving you a proper picture of what's going on.
-
2 RepliesGary.... menacing? Top KAK bro! 😂👌

Edited by Dooodley: 7/23/2017 7:13:07 PMI think people are blowing homecoming out of proportion. IF - and that's a big IF - there's an argument to be made that it's better than the D1 missions then it's only because D1 set the bar incredibly low. I personally don't think it's that different and I wouldnt have thought to myself "well this is special" if it had randomely been in D1. As far as I'm concerned there's more content, depth and lore in one chapter of swtor than there was in D1 + expansions - and probably will be in D2. And they say that swtor is on its last leg. Even then they're able to dig up some voice actors and add cutscenes.
