The beta has plenty of threads going up at the moment. Most of them are people who accidentally took a shower in salt water instead of regular water this morning, but there is definitely plenty of feedback out there.
Regardless of the beta's issues (edit: I do think that the beta does have a few issues), are we all able to agree that the Homecoming mission is by far a step in the right direction for story missions?
There's actual cinematics, you can see NPCs fighting in-game, and you can even revive Commander Zavala if he dies.
And Ghaul seems like a pretty menacing villain already when compared to the lack of a "real" villain in Destiny 1's vanilla story. Edit: Not saying Ghaul is like an amazing villain, just saying when compared to D1 he's better.
Even if Destiny 2's story isn't anything groundbreaking, it already looks better then Destiny 1's story, in my opinion.
Edit: Not trying to say that it's the best mission in any game ever or something, just saying it's much better than Destiny 1.
Edit 2: A lot of people are getting the message that I think negativity is just salt because of my "took a shower in salt water" comment above. This isn't the case at all.
I'm all for negativity if it helps the game. The salt water comment was just a sarcastic joke about the people saying "F U Bungie, the beta is trash." That has no useful feedback whatsoever. The same goes for positive feedback. Saying "Fantastic beta Bungie, good job!" is nice and all, but it doesn't explain why the beta was good, thus it doesn't really have any feedback.
Multiple people now have misunderstood my original point, so I just wanted to clarify this. I don't think negativity is just salt, it was just a joke is all.

It took bungie a whole year to even do something close to homecoming, and that was the first mission in Taken king, so if the rest of the campaign has similar cinematic elements it's already going to be years ahead of destiny vanilla

Music is still awesome

I like the sound the hunter makes when jumping

Being better than the D1 story isn't something to be proud of especially in 2017, but yeah. The story does actually seem really good.

2 RepliesStill think Oryx was by far a truly cool villain and story plot. Unfortunately his story is all locked in grimoire online forever. So Gaul wins for motivations and story so far but . . . Eh. Thematically and visually, I prefer alien monsters of death and bone from another dimension as opposed to a Roman/Covenant rehash.

6 RepliesAgreed. Let's hope they can maintain that level of cinematics and big set pieces throughout the campaign.

1 ReplyGhaul is a grunt from Halo 3 who accidentally ate Popeyes spinach
-
2 RepliesOne thing I can never complain about is the designs. I shit on Destiny a lot for various reasons, but the designs of weapons, armour, creatures and environments sure as hell isn't one of them.

10 RepliesAutorifles feel good. But only because everything else is trash.

2 RepliesThe new Crucible is awesome!

For what it's worth... Me and another random who joined at Zavala fight place managed to push out Zavala from behind the cover. He died and we left him there... Strangely his commentry continued even from his grave. Guardians united.

10 RepliesA good story is pointless if the gameplay is shite.
-
10 RepliesStory is generic and already three times in D1 now. Gameplay is less fun and slower. Dialogue is badly written in literally every cutscene. NPC´s are just scripted. And after three years of D1 it´s a simple thing to top Vanilla D1 in it´s worst category. Anything else?

Except for Cayde and his invisible wall.

3 RepliesI personally like where the story is going. I am impressed with the cutscenes too. Headed in the right direction in my opinion.
-
If you want story, yes. But 150 skippable cutscenes and D2 now being advertised as a cinematic story doesn't make me want to buy

4 RepliesThe writer is the same writer from Mass effect Andromeda, just saying...

1 ReplyYeah, that is the only thing I liked about the beta... that and the strike was kinda cool. The weapon system though, the grenade damage, ability charge time, ammo drops, and the general feel has be really bummed out. I was overall so dissatisfied and disappointed I couldn't believe I was playing a sequel. Destiny kept getting better and better in my opinion with every expansion and I felt like this was just a steaming pile of poop. I know they said they will fix some of the issues I mentioned but cmon guys they should have never been issues in the first place. WTF is Luke Smith doing with the game we all loved? Story telling looks better but what made Destiny "Destiny" is gone in my opinion. Now I know some people will bitch at me but I felt the core of Destiny just got ruined in the name of PVP. The fact that vanilla Destiny had such a better beta compared to this steaming pile, I am genuinely worried.

1 ReplyLedge catching is also done right. If you haven't noticed, your guardian will grab a ledge and pull up over if you narrowly miss a jump.
-
1 ReplyShame our dam Guardian cannot say a word or two....

To be fair, they lost the writer and thus the story for Vanilla D1. They just had scraps to work with really. TTK and RoI was a decent recovery, but D2 should have these issues taken care of. Hopefully anyway.

Yknow, I wish people would take a look at the light level of the enemy that killed you in pve.
It says 210 We're 200
Of course our weapons/abilities aren't going to do that much damage at that level. Wait until the full game comes out, and you're at 250 or something. Then you (might) see the difference.
