The beta has plenty of threads going up at the moment. Most of them are people who accidentally took a shower in salt water instead of regular water this morning, but there is definitely plenty of feedback out there.
Regardless of the beta's issues (edit: I do think that the beta does have a few issues), are we all able to agree that the Homecoming mission is by far a step in the right direction for story missions?
There's actual cinematics, you can see NPCs fighting in-game, and you can even revive Commander Zavala if he dies.
And Ghaul seems like a pretty menacing villain already when compared to the lack of a "real" villain in Destiny 1's vanilla story. Edit: Not saying Ghaul is like an amazing villain, just saying when compared to D1 he's better.
Even if Destiny 2's story isn't anything groundbreaking, it already looks better then Destiny 1's story, in my opinion.
Edit: Not trying to say that it's the best mission in any game ever or something, just saying it's much better than Destiny 1.
Edit 2: A lot of people are getting the message that I think negativity is just salt because of my "took a shower in salt water" comment above. This isn't the case at all.
I'm all for negativity if it helps the game. The salt water comment was just a sarcastic joke about the people saying "F U Bungie, the beta is trash." That has no useful feedback whatsoever. The same goes for positive feedback. Saying "Fantastic beta Bungie, good job!" is nice and all, but it doesn't explain why the beta was good, thus it doesn't really have any feedback.
Multiple people now have misunderstood my original point, so I just wanted to clarify this. I don't think negativity is just salt, it was just a joke is all.

Rocket launcher still works pretty good in d2. Totally vaporized a dude yesterday in pvp.💥

11 RepliesDisagree. The Coming War was a much better mission then Homecoming. It had that wow factor. You start seeing the Cabal being Taken and this sense of dread begins to build. When Oryx appears and says "light....give your will to me" it gave me chills. When playing Homecoming it did not give this feeling. It felt bland and generic. You can't really talk about cutscenes as this issue was fixed in TTK. They added a lot more story with scenes. This is standard in most games. Nothing to shout about. Lastly Gary is no where near the presence of Oryx. He looks weak and pathetic. Oryx showed his taken power. What did Gary do; kick you off the ledge. Another point; Luke Smith, Deej etc should never have started calling him Gary. Luke did this for the reveal and I thought why the hell would you adopt this name. It cheapens the image of the main villain. No wonder so many people are disappointed.

1 ReplyIt's a great mission but I hope every mission isn't just 2-3 waves of enemy, mini boss and next area. If it's all like that it'll get boring fast.
-
I will agree the opening mission was good.
-
8 RepliesGhaul a real villain? He's basically oryx in this game
-
Sorry, but I'm disappointed with the whole thing. It sure looks pretty, but it seems like D1 except with weaker weapons and abilities. Then you have PvP where they have taken away more things than they have given back. How can I be happy about getting less than I had before? Only the competitive PvP guys seem happy, since they don't play PvE and don't care about being weak as kittens.

1 ReplyAgreed, although I really wish it showed our main character fight back. He literally stood there and took it. I get that a lot was happening and he/she was probably devistated, but for a guardian of the light he should at least throw a punch
-
15 RepliesEven if I agreed that this first mission was amazing, which I don't. You remember the part where he kicks us off the ledge like we're some useless civilian even though my guardian was a lighthouse veteran who killed crota? Yeah he wasn't just kicking us off a ledge, he was kicking us far far away from any other mission with that kind of cinematic edge until probably the end of the game. The middle missions are still going to be you completely alone with some other guardian whispering your next directive into your ear instead of getting their ass down there and helping you. I mean i assume they'll have a new big table to stand around and look at while you single handedly save the world again.

1 ReplySo I'm not saying that the beta is bad, but I'm curious if anyone else thought the gun play wasn't as tight as the first game. To me it feels like the aiming mechanics have been changed slightly.
-
2 RepliesGaul being the best villain in destiny and his voice. Great job Bungie for getting a good voice acter for Gaul.
-
5 RepliesOne thing that was good huh? Hmm, the particle effects are pretty neat. I like the look and giant axion darts from nova bomb, just wish Helen Keller wasn't able to dodge it...

3 RepliesEdited by Gahzirra: 7/24/2017 4:22:24 PMI just didn't get that mindblowing Wow factor that I did playing the D1 Beta and both chapters of the opening mission play out pretty quick which leads me to believe that I will be finished with main story for vanilla D2 within a few days of just playing casually. There wasn't ANY indication left through the story mode of how the loot system would work, you'd see glimmer fall but never collect it and not a single loot chest to be found anywhere I searched. That doesn't even touch on the fact that the " exotic " you get handed to you goes nowhere near feeling awesome. The only one of the three that felt decent was the Sunshot in my humble opinion. The backdrop and scenery was just a rehash of things we have already witnessed and the " vex milk " only served as a barrier to keep you from exploring very far. So Homecoming was flat and disappointing and I felt it wasn't the correct way to ask people to shell out $60 - $100. I will probably wait and buy it used if I actually do go ahead and purchase it.

6 RepliesSome problems I hope get fixed are the charge rate of supers in strikes. And the ammo drop rate, which sucks. I ran out of primary and secondary cause none was dropping.

5 RepliesEdited by darthdigglerdc8: 7/24/2017 5:05:37 PMWell it doesn't look good for bungie. Another half ass finished game is going to be released sept6. Read up on it. Activision won't pay bonuses if it's not released on Sept 6. So guess what us fans get. Yup another unfinished beta with trickled out overpriced dlc's.

59 RepliesI don't really like the story so far. too many holes. how are we mass producing more at a farm than an entire city? I say more cause we have more foundries producing various weapon types, that we couldn't get in the city and without light.... how are we going to survive that fall? 😶
-
3 RepliesThe campaign would be sweet but you know....our guns are garbage and our abilities take FOREVER to charge (yes we won't use our abilities for a bit in the campaign but we'll get them back and they'll be trash)
-
It is very good but is still hampered by some truly awful dialogue that has me worried they've learned no lessons from D1 😳
-
Oryx > Ghaul
-
3 RepliesAlso ghauls eyes are too far apart and it makes him look like a frog
-
You shouldn't apologize for making a joke for crying out loud. We're all salty as shit sometimes you'd figure we'd all get the joke... I guess it's a tough crowd. Also this is another trending bitchpost- I'm sick of opinions. We should be seeing more ideas and solutions trending instead of cheers and jeers at Bungo.
-
1 ReplyI agree the narrative is good, the actual gameplay is pretty generic though.
-
Good lore here.
-
Contrived one-liners is good story telling? Wow...
-
6 RepliesI'm gonna have fun duking it out with Ghaul and the Red Legion. And I hope we don't kill him immediately in the raid, like with Oryx. I felt like I just met Oryx and bam! he's gone.
-
2 RepliesThe writing. That striker titan is the only titan subclass that feels good in PvP. The terrible armor design for the titan. 4v4 being a thing.
-
2 RepliesMaybe off topic- The only thing u can't say is bad is the ............. Main Ingredient fusion rifle✌️
