So NLB and bubble are crutches?
So today I helped a friend of mine go flawless. We got a few rough matches and I didn't do great on every match. On our flawless match however we (all around 1500 elo) came up against 2 streamers. (2.5 trials k/d's after 100+ games this week with 2200elos).
We manage to win the game 5-3, I went 12-3, both of my teammates ended up with 4 kills. So I decided to check out our opponents streams and say GG. The response I got was priceless. The wombo combo shadestep user and stormcaller with mapador decided to trashtalk. According to them I only won because I was using the crutch bubble and crutch no land beyond without flinch.
Which leaves me with the question, when did bubble and no land beyond become crutches?

[b]those saying I was using weapons of light, I wasn't, you can view my setup through the forum, I run armor of light. The damage notification bugged once (showed 127 on a headshot while it did kill) which seems to happen on nlb so now and then.[/b]

5 RepliesWell doesn't the NLB have one of the highest aim assists? And it doesn't have the flinch other snipers use. In my opinion, anyone spamming OHK weapons are using a crutch. This game is supposed to have an extended time to kill, but there are a lot of OHK items in the game. If your loadout is Uni/Sniper/Sticky or NLB/Shotgun/Sticky...you rely on hit and run tactics and essentially are avoiding having to fight. Played a couple bubble Titans with NLB, shotguns, and magnetic grenades. They tbagged every kill. But every kill they had was a OHK. I thought it was the cheesiest way to play I have ever seen. That is not even including how they spammed bubbles from like rounds 4-8. They outplayed us. They are probably better than I am either way. It is just kind of lame to see how effective a team can be by avoiding the fight and relying on 1 tapping every kill they get.

27 RepliesNo Land is cheap. No flinch. Get headshots by shooting feet. Lame. Bubble isn't cheap though. Respect for using a bad PvP subclass and winning.

Don't sweat it. You dont need to explain yourself to online weebs. Nice win, you'll find this kinda thing becomes more common the more people you beat. Trials brings out the emotion.

So one of the hardest to use subclasses with one of the hardest to master snipers are crutches? I've seen all the stupidity the Destiny community has to offer now I may believe, then again I said that before. Good on ya going 9-0 though.

At least even TripleWreck can take a loss like a man, all these others I hear about winge and whine... a dumb yet simple tactic woulda been to wait till your bubble and buff ran out by hiding somewhere and then going after you, perhaps that coulda saved 'em? Plus NLB isn't that easy to use whereas one of 'em was using a longbow. Either way one of the more interesting ToO matches I've seen in a while.

3 RepliesThe days of NLB being a fairly niche weapon are over. People have gotten pretty good with it and adjusted to it by now making it just another sniper rifle, except now without flinch. The stigma around it still remains for some reason though, despite it not being that hard to use once you get over the hump a bit. I certainly think in some situations it's the best sniper rifle in the game. Anyone who is shocked that people think NLB is crutch are probably living in a sniper era of a time long beyond now.

11 RepliesI dunno about bubble, but NLB became a crutch when the sniper flinch became so bad they're close to unusable. Then you take NLB and realize its flinch WASNT changed like other snipers were. It flinches but the flinch isn't "stacking" like it does with regular snipers. Add that to always spawning with ammo and you can run that with a Mapador and it's scrubby.

Good for you. I go in guardian.theater and watch myself ass pound douchy streamers during iron banner a lot. It's hilarious how upset you can get them just messing around.

I don't know if I'd say they're crutches by themselves, it really depends on how you play with them...how you're using them. I personally cannot stand the term "crutch". Everything in this game is available to every player - yes there are different rolls on legendaries & RNG plays a factor. But for the most part , everyone has access to the same skills & weapons. Now however...there are definitely extremely cheap ways to use NLB, & there are extremely cheap strats to place a bubble for a W... Sitting in spawn w. Skorri's & hardscoping the shit out of lanes is definitely a cheap way to win if you ask me. I'm not saying that's what you did - I'm saying that's my personal opinion of a way you can use that setup in a super cheap "crutch" way. I don't think it's any secret how effective NLB truly is at this point. It's a powerful weapon given the state of the crucible, being how weak primaries are in general, it's a pretty hefty advantage being able to run double special weapons... But me personally, I could never. I primary way too often for that. I actually depend on my primary for the majority of games. & no backup plans, paired w. NLB & matador...that's a pretty strong setup. But, no, I don't think it's a "crutch" setup by any means...
