I absolutely love everything about this gun. I've been playing destiny since release (although I did take a long break) and im on the fence with rise of iron. Even though I was pissed about the season pass being half the dlc, I bought taken king any way and was really disappointed that they removed my favourite gun. Im not buying another dlc to be disappointed again so no ice breaker no more destiny for me. Anyone else agree?
Edit: alot of people complaining about pvp vs pve. Here's a fix they make an iron breaker with the iron banner recolour and have that one as the nerfed to hell version. And rerelease the normal coloured one with pre Nerf stats but as a caveat the og coloured one can not be used in pvp and it even auto switches to the iron version if you enter pvp with it equipped.

MEGA bump. Ice Breaker is what made Destiny playable for me. If Xur hadn't sold it so early in Year 1, I would have quit before The Dark Below dropped. Let's make the unofficial Year 3 just as playable.
-
1 ReplyNo thanks. Icebreaker and thorn can live in year 1 forever.

3 RepliesIf they'd just make new exotics that are just as cool and have their own status as legends, I'd say no. There's this win/lose effect with epic exotics like that: In year one, you had powerhouse exotics like Icebreaker, Gally, Vex Mytho, and Thorn. Whether it was crucible or PvE bosses, these things absolutely rekt shop. They actually FELT like epic exotic weapons. And the fact that they were harder to get made them feel that much more special when you actually got them. This is very lacking in year two. There's not really any exotics that feel that epic. They are all so so, and most are pretty easy to get (easiER anyway). Nothing really stands out above the rest like say, an Icebreaker. So year two feels lackluster. But take a look at the flipside of that. Exotics were hard as -blam!- to come by in year one. RNGesus was a bitch. Guns like Gally and Icebreaker didn't drop often, and some folks missed the chance to buy them. Suros only dropped for me in the last month of year one. Gally never did. Sure this makes them special, but there's more dumbassery that goes with this. Lot of people set stupid requirements for raids like "Must have Max gally". And there were very few nightfalls I'd run without the trusty icebreaker. In a way, I was spoiled on icebreaker. The same top tier weapons were used over and over. It got redundant. Thorn took over the crucible. Gally took over Crota. It was the same with elemental primaries. If you had Fatebringer, Black Hammer, and a Gjallarhorn? There was no reason to ever change your loadout. And besides just the power, raid gear was basically needed to max out your level at 30, 32, and 34. So in a way, the changes are good and bad. Exotics don't feel epic anymore, but there's so much more diversity. There's still a meta for crucible, but it's nothing like before. You'll see people using Hard Light, MIDA, Zhalo, Swords, Lord of Wolves, and a whole ton of legendaries with different rolls. It's a bit more balanced, but more lackluster. I dunno if there's a middle ground to this but I think it needs to be found. Honestly though? I think if they brought guns (and raids) forward? There'd be way more room for diversity. So even if Icebreaker WAS a bit of an epic crutch, bring it on up and let it compete with the new epic exotics they make. How bout a sniper that when you make a precision kill, it sets off a single, timed, grenade explosion. We'll call it Inception. In this theoretical scenario, give us more choices of the Epics to choose from. People may start to vary things up a bit. Then have a raid where you have some guy using Icebreaker on a grassy knoll, and Inception on another. But of course that could get too OP. TL; DR: Things and stuff.

No. Leave it in year 1.
-
Despite its recoil, I loved it in crucible.
-
There is no precedent for them being able to lock an item out of a particular arena, and I think it's unreasonable to expect them to do it now. That being said, Ice Breaker is what I miss most from year one. I would love to see it come back. Even in pvp.

8 RepliesIce Breaker was a cool gun, but there's something I didn't realize about that thing until they got rid of it. It made all the boss fight strategies soooooooooo BORING. I remember that when house of wolves came, I would refuse to play Vault of Glass with anyone who did the Ice Breaker strategy. The one where you would send one person down with the relic and let everyone else stay up on the cliff shooting down oracles? Yeah, absolutely hated doing that strategy, so I would suggest that we do that checkpoint the challenging way for five wipes or less. If we didn't make it then I'd agree to do the Ice Breaker strat but if and only if we didn't succeed in doing the checkpoint the way it was meant to be done. The strat even kept some of the asshole party leaders from kicking people simply because they don't have an Ice Breaker. It felt nice to do something without some cheesy method, and in the process getting some people who normally wouldn't even get an invite to the game through the raid, you know? I think what Bungie meant to do by leaving certain exotics back like Ice Breaker and Gjallahorn was done, and done well. From what I understand they did this to bring diversity to the world of destiny. And they've done exactly that. You don't absolutely have to have any certain weapon to do a boss fight. Obviously there a some weapons like Touch of Malice, Black Spindle, and Sleeper Simulate that are better than others. But those weapons are not a need to finish raids and I love that. Although people are still getting kicked for not having certain weapons, it's not happening as much from what I can tell, and that's great. Anyway, my point is they brought diversity to the game by leaving certain exotics out. And that, in my opinion, was a great move on their part.

1 ReplyNo it's a scrub gun, I admit to using it when I had too but I really don't like it
-
If they un nerf it maybe, otherwise that shitsniper can rot in my vault...
-
35 RepliesIce Breaker is an overrated piece of trash...
-
If they're bringing back GHally then they have to bring back Thorn and Icebreaker, they were the exotic trifecta, the exotics that became the sign for their placement. And since Thorn is essentially trash now in PvP its probably only be usable in PvE
-
As much as I would like it to make a return, but it will be abused in pvp alot
-
-
2 RepliesI would like to sign but why should it be in Destiny 2.0? The GHorn is in 2.0 becuase it is important to the story. So give me an Icebreaker story and it might go into 2.0.
-
Yep, was my favourite weapon
-
wouldn't be too surprised if they brought it back with RoI. Im hoping they do, and a siva version of the pocket infiniti.
-
1 ReplyInb4 ps exclusive quest reward is siva icebreaker
im calling it

ive got my eye on you bungo
-
2 RepliesIt's the destiny 2 pre order incentive
-
It's aesthetics really get to me and it's uniqueness which is probably the main reason why I want it to be brought back in year 3.
-
3 RepliesI mean if they're bringing the almighty Gjallarhorn back then they don't really have an excuse for leaving Ice Breaker behind. They can't say it's because content will become easier as anyone who played in year 1 knows Gjallarhorn topped IB in terms of trivializing boss fights. Pls Bungie! It was my first Exotic .-.
-
I remember when it first came on sale at Xur's emporium...I bought 2, then another 2 dropped for me that same week in the nightfalls haha It's an awesome gun...bring it back, make it unusable in PvP if it's that OP. Best gun ever!
-
Icebreaker was my first exotic therefore Signed
-
Signed.
-
Was in a match where a player had Ice Breaker and just sat in the back of the Shores of Time map regenerating ammo. Ended up 20 kills and no deaths. Annoying as hell since everyone else has to scramble to find special ammo. Great for PvE though. Helped out alot during original PoE.
-
It's coming, it will be blues and grey or black and white.

7 RepliesIce Breaker should have been Year 2 and so should have The Devil You Know, best Hand Cannon out there (my opinion). I never understood Bungies decision to leave out the Ice Breaker, if it was some thing to do with its Ammo, then Invective should have been left behind too. But I do believe it was some thing to do with diversity, every one used an Ice Breaker, and this is why it was left behind. I had one on all three of my Characters, I love the damned thing. Bring it back. And bring back The Devil You Know.
