Dear fellow Hunters , lets just talk about what you will do now. Whats your first impressions? I know we just need to play a while to get a clear sight about our subclasses. But after reading the nodes , what will you do? How do you change your Loadout? Do you use another subclass now?
Edit: Nice to see some very good Posts and almost no Rage in here. keep it up.
After playing tonight i just want to spread out my feelings.
Before the update i mained a nightstalker. Off course i used the typical Wombo and Shadestep loadout.
Why nightstalker?
I was Bladedancer all the Time and sniped in all modes, but the crucible changed so much into a sniper meta that i didnt feel comfortable with a sniper anymore. Games get much more slow paced and its too much a trade when going into 1v1 Sniper gunfights. So i became a shotgunner. I used nightalker because shadestep could rescue me when shotgunning much often. The option to distract your enemy in a close quarter combat was just perfect. Also the Wombo combo was the best thing to get those hardscoping sniper bros off guard.
So now after the update:
Shadestep: Its almost as good as it was before , i realized that 1 Shadestep is still enough to do awesome stuff. The 3 sec cooldown is ok , i missing it only when im in 1v2 or 1v3 situations.
Smokebomb: Yep thats the thing chich hurts the most, they took away the debuff which makes it so strong, denying the ability to jump. Today i got smokebombed so many times and i was out of the smoke even before the Voidwall or Vortex grenade could take any damage on me. Also when i used it it seems only good when you get a direct hit on the targed. Otherwise you just throw away 2 charged abilitys with no reward.
You still can irritate enemys with the smoke , but for me personally its not worth using anymore.
because of that i changed it to the only viable option. "Vanish".
I also tried out the Spike grenade on small maps, and i worked very well.
I have to say i dont like going invisible , but the patch force me to adapt. I can pretent a lot more invisible Hunters in future crucible matches. But people want a smoke nerf , so they get more invisible Hunters out of it.
The super:
Nothing to moan here , the super feels great, the supression is instantly and quiver is my new favourite here. I stopped a voidwalker using his nova on me mid animation.
All in one i can say that Nightsalker is still a great subclass. I didnt try out the other subclasses yet. but i will.

3 Replieson my gunslinger i am definitely going to use circle of life and knife juggler for pve. now that it reduces the cool down it will be great for boss battles. take down all the tier one minions activate super, deall damage. repeat.
-
Well no more adapting for me, after playing some pvp earlier today i lost all desire to continue playing this game, overwatch look nice now.. Good thing i didn't pre ordered rise of iron
-
1 ReplyI'm just really happy the shadowshot now suppresses on contact! :D
-
Well I'm probably going to go from using bladedancer in PvP to gunslinger. Some of the buffs they got looked promising.
-
Hunters were hit pretty bad in my opinion. it really sucks for those who main a hunter, like myself. At this point i feel like hunters are not as reliable to play in pvp anymore. I guess ill just start using a titan or warlock since most of the mellee/grenades are OP compared to the hunters + rip hand cannons :p
-
I will always main a Hunter, Nerf or not. Everything has its moment in the sun doesn't mean you can't play well in PvP or PvE, Nightstalker will still be a great support class the others just will be more viable now. Yeah I'm a little butt hurt about Tripmines but what's done is done maybe I'll try a new load-out and tactics, nothing stopping me using another class a bit more for a few months.
-
Well, not too long before the update I mained a hunter. I decided I wanted to switch and create 3 of the same class... but instead of deleting my Hunter and Titan, I decided to go with what I felt to be the most balanced class in the game: hunters. Played around with the various subclasses, and decided to play mainly as a bladedancer. Shadestep and the wombo combo felt too much like a crutch for me to enjoy, and being unable to control if you throw the throwing knife or melee lunge at an enemy annoyed me too much for me to want to play golden gun. So bladedancer it was. I figured there is no way it would get nerfed hard again. Boy was I wrong. My plan to adapt is simple. My super was already garbage against good teams, as if they get a few good shots off, I'm dead. I had a saving grace: blink and using my arc blade in a zig zag to avoid enemy fire and close the gap. This is no longer viable. So now, my only option is to take on a single enemy, and pray they don't body shot me twice with a sniper, shotgun me, hit me with a charged melee, shut me down with their super, or look at me funny. The nerf was unwarranted... but acceptable. It was only effective of enemies who feared it. I can't tell you how many times I've popped it, realized I would get shot, then swiped my way to cover, so I could wait for my super to run out and get back in action. It was part of being a bladedancer. And not much will change. I'll use it strategically and know when to retreat. That being said, I feel the nerfs will make me reevaluate when I can challenge an enemy in my super. Taking away mobility in our super without compensating with added armor or increased speed was a major nerf. But we'll see... Skip grenades needed a nerf. And I don't think they are terrible as is. Initial tracking speed should be increased so if it lands next to an enemy, they can't run away unharmed. But that seems to be a rare case, since players tend to be too focused on the battle to notice the skip grenade until it's already hitting them. Recovery reduction when using blink made me go shake my head. It was a vital part of being able to close the gap in bladedance without being killed. And now we're being penalized further for using it? How many more nerfs will blink receive? Blink strike... I'm glad they said they fixed the glitch with it processing when hitting someone from the front, but I did it twice today, and it happened to me once, all in the span of one game. Good job. That still needs to be fixed. But otherwise it should have been left alone. It was only OP when glitched. All that aside, the gun battles are where most of my kills are attained. My skills are used only to ensure I come out alive, and my enemy dies. So as bad as the nerfs are, it really doesn't significantly impact me. I will continue to play. If anything, this may have convinced me to go back to having one of each class... but we shall see.

Switch to warlock

Edited by WoodWisp: 6/15/2016 4:12:00 AMHunters are nearing extinction, as is blink.. I've been playing strikes and a couple games of pvp all day. I think I saw one nightstalker during strikes and 2 bladedancers in pvp. Speaking of that, a the first bladedancer activated his super, swung at me, I heard the hit, no damage at all, and he had to come back and hit me again. I had ample time to kill him, had I not have put the controller down. I just thought that was ridiculous that he definitely hit me but I lived with full health the first time.. I main a warlock by the way.
-
I've mained a hunter since day one there's only one way I have to adapt and that to stop swiping to move during my blade action, the nerf to tripmine and throwing knife isn't going to effect my style of play in any way, I use incendiaries. As far as nightstalkers go I never used shadestep because I basically forgot to do it mid gunfight and stuff, shadestep and wombo definitely needed nerfing. Also as a good thing unstoppable Titan can't live a GG now :)))) blade nerfs will just make it a bit more of a challenge with blink and all that
-
I saw two eyasluna and a party crasher today n I only played like ten matches. I usually only see these once a week for eyasluna and like once a month for party crasher
-
Edited by Powerath: 6/15/2016 3:52:46 AMQuit Destiny and go play as Tracer in Overwatch. Adapt. Seriously, Bladedancer nerfs showed that Bungie clearly does not play their game. The only nerf that I do agree with is the nerfed tracking time for Skip grenades. Bladedancer made the game enjoyable for me. I put up with the broken super since the release of Taken King hoping they would fix it. I now see that they won't be fixing the super, but they're nerfing it more. GG, Destiny. You were great in Year One but you've only fallen since then.
-
I dunno I haven't played today but my strategy will stay the same on my Bladedancer kill all who cross my path
-
Scavenger is stronger now but it's benefits are weakened due to the reduced efficiency of their grenades and melees. I'm primarily a pve player and my suggestions are to run incendiary grenades on all stages that have hive, vex, and taken architecture. Swarm grenades did not do a great deal of damage in the solar burn nightfall today. It's definitely too slow to be a react grenade. Also Bungie should adjust the perks of the Young Ahamkara's Spine to apply to swarm grenades since no exotic applies to them in particular.

1 ReplyEdited by TheProperGent: 6/15/2016 2:07:54 AMBlade dancer nerf: sort of understandable even though I don't believe it was necessary given hammer of sol buffs on the Titan side of things Tripmine nerf: I've become attached to sticking people with this, but I do realize it's original purpose as a trap grenade, not a sticky Throwing knife nerf (RAGE IMMINENT): What the CRAP?! Knives should kill people! IF The FREAKING TITAN has instakill SHOULDER CHARGE and the warlock has THUNDERSTRIKE a freaking nerf to the one melee where skill and precision actually MATTERS is RIDICULOUS!! Note: I'd be happy to talk to whoever wants to comment with their opinion, I just don't see the necessity and urgency in some of these new "fixes"
-
Bladedancer super changes are completely retarded pvp-wise.

My poor trip mines :/ I guess I'll just not play crucible... Idk. I'll miss you my sweets!
-
1 ReplyWarlock main here, can anyone explain the justification behind the damage reduction on trip mine and knives. It didn't make since to me since I survive both all the time anyway
-
I never used tripmines so im fine
-
At this point I've given up. Everything is going to get nerfed one way or another, but if I play gunslinger, I'll use either my Eyasluna or my PoE Queen's pulse, with conspiracy theory dingle or a 1KYS until I get an LDR or a Longbow. I play only crucible, so it hasn't been fun for me. I try to make it fun, but it gets super sweaty even though I'm not really that good.
-
Edited by OdinsDaDdy: 6/15/2016 1:26:39 AMAs someone who recently started using the gunslinger subclass again in pvp and learned to love it, I will still probably keep the same load out. I never really relied on trip mines sticking to begin with. But I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fun as hell yelling "Unicorn, Bi-ch!" every time I landed one on someone's forehead. I'm going to miss that the most. :(

5 RepliesI don't know, yesterday I was glad that at least my skip grenades didn't change. Now that I have found out that they have nerfed that too I don't know which is the best grenade now, flux maybe?
-
I know this game has different jobs and sub classes which create a lot of diversity and ways to play but it sounds like a lot of hunters were relying on those skills waaaaaay to much. Other players were noticing this so was bungie so some of them got nerfed some got buffed. None of the changes were that major, you won't have to adjust that much at all.
-
Eh. I've never needed to spam Shadestep to escape or close-width so it won't bother to much. In PvE I'll be a bit disappointed with it. Tripmines being unable to stick sucks because that's the only guaranteed way to get a kill with that grenade. I see most people stand in my grenade and walk away still alive and kicking. Best way now is to predict when opponents walk into view and toss Tripmines a second before they do so and follow up with gun shots to clean up. It's only good as a prep grenade now. It's a lot of guess work and map and tactics knowledge. Throwing Knife is meh. I only use it to clean up kills anyway and never relied on the Burn ability. I forgot it has that. Best way to utilize Knives would probably be high-Impact HC and Headshot Knives with Juggler. My go to in Year 1 (Hawkmoon + follow up Throwing Knife = <3). I never lead with the Knife, always follow up with it.

Just carry on playing and adapt there is nowt else to do...the community has spoke they are always right...Next nerf, Titans ... Then the real salt will come. PS I'm not one for this but bf1 will be the game to get me off destiny......I hate to say this cause I love destiny.... Destiny 2 better be good
