Hunter discussion, you main a hunter? Lets talk how we can adapt now.

Dear fellow Hunters , lets just talk about what you will do now. Whats your first impressions? I know we just need to play a while to get a clear sight about our subclasses. But after reading the nodes , what will you do? How do you change your Loadout? Do you use another subclass now? Edit: Nice to see some very good Posts and almost no Rage in here. keep it up. After playing tonight i just want to spread out my feelings. Before the update i mained a nightstalker. Off course i used the typical Wombo and Shadestep loadout. Why nightstalker? I was Bladedancer all the Time and sniped in all modes, but the crucible changed so much into a sniper meta that i didnt feel comfortable with a sniper anymore. Games get much more slow paced and its too much a trade when going into 1v1 Sniper gunfights. So i became a shotgunner. I used nightalker because shadestep could rescue me when shotgunning much often. The option to distract your enemy in a close quarter combat was just perfect. Also the Wombo combo was the best thing to get those hardscoping sniper bros off guard. So now after the update: Shadestep: Its almost as good as it was before , i realized that 1 Shadestep is still enough to do awesome stuff. The 3 sec cooldown is ok , i missing it only when im in 1v2 or 1v3 situations. Smokebomb: Yep thats the thing chich hurts the most, they took away the debuff which makes it so strong, denying the ability to jump. Today i got smokebombed so many times and i was out of the smoke even before the Voidwall or Vortex grenade could take any damage on me. Also when i used it it seems only good when you get a direct hit on the targed. Otherwise you just throw away 2 charged abilitys with no reward. You still can irritate enemys with the smoke , but for me personally its not worth using anymore. because of that i changed it to the only viable option. "Vanish". I also tried out the Spike grenade on small maps, and i worked very well. I have to say i dont like going invisible , but the patch force me to adapt. I can pretent a lot more invisible Hunters in future crucible matches. But people want a smoke nerf , so they get more invisible Hunters out of it. The super: Nothing to moan here , the super feels great, the supression is instantly and quiver is my new favourite here. I stopped a voidwalker using his nova on me mid animation. All in one i can say that Nightsalker is still a great subclass. I didnt try out the other subclasses yet. but i will.

About to play now for the first time since the update. Based off the patch notes it seems nightstalker and gunslinger will both still dominate. BD really got left out in the cold though. It had one useable pvp grenade that just got nerfed, you now can't move around the map quickly with arc blade because of the 20% increase to energy used per swing (already had an issue with being outran). So you now have a lightly armored melee class that can't even close the gap quickly. All that needed to be fixed was backstab and hit detection. They definitely went overboard on alot. Will good players still do well with it? Yes. Is it still a really good pvp sublclass? No. It's just completely outclassed by most others. I'll keep using it though just for quickdraw and blink. Oh wait, that got nerfed too. 😂

    • Well since you asked nicely I won't complain. I haven't played in months and likely won't touch pvp ever again. But here is how I would change my sub classes based on the changes. Nightstalker: I'd drop shade step entirely. And go with the perk that makes my radar better. I'd straight up go with vanish. Exotic armor I'm not sure. 2 vanish nades would allow me to be super aggressive. But I'd probably opt for an exotic that's more of a general small buff rather then a specific one. Gunslinger: I'd drop trip mine and stick with the incendiary nade. It was buffed awhile back and is the best single target/group damage nade now. Throwing knife is interesting. If I run a high impact hand cannon I'd probably go circle of life with juggler. Get the most up time on the best pvp super. I could easily see myself just running incendiary knife though with any other weapon to keep shields down. Exotic wont be the spine anymore sadly. Probably bones of eao. Blade dancer: skip nade still. Fast twitch still. Though I'm not sure if I would stick to the perk that gives me faster reloading and weapon swapping since it doesn't work with blink even more so now. And considering how bungie doesn't want me swiping for mobility with my super and encore got better I might go encore and the perk that lets me sprint faster and slide further. Exotic armor wise I have no clue.

    • Got to say did some crucible today and one game absolutely wrecked today with the new bladedancer. Ended with a kd of 3.38 (i think). Then i tried the imprecation quest. That was painful.

After playing last night in the Crucible, not much has really effected me. I've always been a fan of the Trip Mines and continued to use them and will continue to do so. The only adjustment that needs to be made is remembering they no longer stick to people. I threw a couple throughout the night and watched them spin against the enemy and detonate. They can still relatively one shot some enemies, but for the most part, they're to help finish someone off now. GG I saw a huge difference in PvE during my CoE runs. The same goes for Arcblade. I did step away from Blink entirely last night due to the recovery delay from it. I haven't tried it out since the update to see how it works. Shadowshot, feels better in Crucible now too. Thankfully, the one shots I did land were perfect to see and feel. Did anyone else notice an increase in their tracking? Not sure if it was just me, or not. Shadestep, I never abused like most Hunters did. Yes, I used it as an evade, but never used it to get across an entire map before. So there, it really hasn't made much of an impact for me as it would others. The infamous wombo combo. I'll admit, I have abused it in the past and did a bit yesterday to see how it worked and truthfully, I didn't notice a drastic difference. I was still able to burn down enemies in the Crucible with it. I did notice them being able to jump easier when hit, but if you can still hit an enemy with both the Poison Grenade and Voidwall, they're still dead. Over all, I'm satisfied with the update to Hunters. Crucible seemed pretty well balanced last night to me. Edit* Added my comments in regards to the "Wombo Combo". Thank you BIGnBUSTYtj for pointing it out.

      • Im still using bladedancer in crucible. PvE wise this subclass can actually take out enemies with encore. PvP wise its became harder to get 3 kills, unless you had a group of enemies around. And i prefer to use hungering blade here. I use to use fast twitch. But the reset time is annoying with it now. So i switched to back stab and its still a great perk. I mainly use flux grenade and havent had too much problems with. I use blink for my jump and fleet footed.

I basically ran a Nightstalker 1:5:5 Wombo/Eao setup exclusively for the last half year. This is an aggressive mobility build of course. Yesterday was the last day I used it. Here are the reasons: Super: The super was useless before and is still useless now (by itself without voidwall). Enemy super suppression only works on direct impact. They just being tethered gives them still enough time to kill you while tethered. Tethering 5 people and having no grenade still lets you run for cover because of teamshot. I agree that the way suppression works now, Quiver is the way to go. Wombo: Totally worthless now. Like the OP said, it's like throwing sand. People just jump out of it with a smile. Smoke: This is now basically reduced to being a seeing impairment. When I was hit with it, it was only a short annoyance. Only works if you hit someone in the face with it. Voidwall: Made never sense without smoke anyway. Shadestep: I noticed that I stopped using it while not in engagements to have it available when suddenly needed. So everything that was special about the Nightstalker movement was gone. Sliding replaced all the shade stepping. You know the feeling when you play a class and think: actually I could be some completely different class and everything would be the same. I especially was annoyed by me limited to one evasive shadestep while voidwalkers blinked and shotgunned/meleed around me without any limitation. Shadestep is now like a 3m blink with a 3 second cool down. I also noted that already yesterday, the number of Nightstalker sharply dropped in the crucible. I think the only sensible way to still use Nightstalker is to go the stealth route with invisibility and sneaking. Without the evasive shadestep option, it makes no sense to go toe to toe with enemies all running superior armor. This is not my playstyle alas... And just wait till people start bitching about all those new no skill invisible shotgun behind the corner campers and wait for the Bungie nerf to invisibility in September. Nightstalker IMHO is now a PVE class. Voidwaker/Striker here I come. I think the only funny thing out of this will be the way Bungie will nerf the new annoyance of all the shoulder chargers, juggernauts, sticky fusion grenades, Spark grenades, Ram builds, 10 meter life stealing melees. Because Bungie listens to the community. In the end we will all sit behind cover and play a round of Team Fortress.

            • I haven't tried my hunter yet. I hate the idea that I can't use my blade dancer like I'm use to. I use slashes to close the gap quickly. I feel like people will outrun me now. How is it?

              • I still use Gunslinger for now. Once they finally (and inevitably, I might add) finish slitting his throat and nerf the stability and reload speed perks that are pretty much the only thing left, I'll move on to another game. Just here to shoot things, man.

              • I'm not changing anything. I may not be able to step twice in a row, but I usually found, in my experience, that if the first step didn't get the job done more often than not the second didn't get me outta the situation I was in either. I don't really use gunslinger or blade dancer, so those changes don't really affect me. The smoke bombs I used yesterday as a "wombo combo" was still effective. I got at least one smoke kill during 90% of the time and I got a double kill once. So, maybe... maybe... 1 or 2 players got away since they can jump, but not a huge difference. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy about any of the nerfs, to any class. Imo I'd rather buff than nerf, but I can adapt and overcome all of the patch changes.

I will adapt by moving to another game, fking final straw I am done. Nerf after nerf after nerf. I understand sweeking damage on some weapons or even accuracy on some weapons but all the nerfs to movement and overall gameplay have felt like a totally different game and trust me it is most definitely not for the better. Every single change they have made to player movements since the start of all the nerfs they have done has reduced the amount of control you have, every single one has been done to effect players with quick reaction times. They have all been put in place to "balance" the game? I think not. Whoever has been coming up with these insane ideas for nerfs needs shot it's horrible I can't stand how this game feels now it's slow and sluggish there is nothing appealing about how this game feels to play for me anymore. Yes I always mained a Bladedancer but now I'm done I'm not puting another minute or penny into destiny it's all went to shit.
