Dear fellow Hunters , lets just talk about what you will do now. Whats your first impressions? I know we just need to play a while to get a clear sight about our subclasses. But after reading the nodes , what will you do? How do you change your Loadout? Do you use another subclass now?
Edit: Nice to see some very good Posts and almost no Rage in here. keep it up.
After playing tonight i just want to spread out my feelings.
Before the update i mained a nightstalker. Off course i used the typical Wombo and Shadestep loadout.
Why nightstalker?
I was Bladedancer all the Time and sniped in all modes, but the crucible changed so much into a sniper meta that i didnt feel comfortable with a sniper anymore. Games get much more slow paced and its too much a trade when going into 1v1 Sniper gunfights. So i became a shotgunner. I used nightalker because shadestep could rescue me when shotgunning much often. The option to distract your enemy in a close quarter combat was just perfect. Also the Wombo combo was the best thing to get those hardscoping sniper bros off guard.
So now after the update:
Shadestep: Its almost as good as it was before , i realized that 1 Shadestep is still enough to do awesome stuff. The 3 sec cooldown is ok , i missing it only when im in 1v2 or 1v3 situations.
Smokebomb: Yep thats the thing chich hurts the most, they took away the debuff which makes it so strong, denying the ability to jump. Today i got smokebombed so many times and i was out of the smoke even before the Voidwall or Vortex grenade could take any damage on me. Also when i used it it seems only good when you get a direct hit on the targed. Otherwise you just throw away 2 charged abilitys with no reward.
You still can irritate enemys with the smoke , but for me personally its not worth using anymore.
because of that i changed it to the only viable option. "Vanish".
I also tried out the Spike grenade on small maps, and i worked very well.
I have to say i dont like going invisible , but the patch force me to adapt. I can pretent a lot more invisible Hunters in future crucible matches. But people want a smoke nerf , so they get more invisible Hunters out of it.
The super:
Nothing to moan here , the super feels great, the supression is instantly and quiver is my new favourite here. I stopped a voidwalker using his nova on me mid animation.
All in one i can say that Nightsalker is still a great subclass. I didnt try out the other subclasses yet. but i will.

1 ReplyEdited by TrulyDontCare: 6/15/2016 10:07:57 PMFrom the little I've been able to play since the patch: Nightstalker still kicks as much ass in PvP. People can jump out of smoke, but I'm yet to see somebody try it. Personally, I never spammed Shade Step, so I didn't even notice that change (I honestly think that nerf was just to appease the other people, who hated Shade Step so much). Shadow Shot is much better now, for sure. I also used Gunslinger for the Nightfall. That went even better than I expected. The buffs to Swarm grenades and GG make them both very useful. With solar burn active, those two things -blam!-ed up everything in their way. That's my two cents so far. Gunslinger is good in PvE again and Nightstalker feels roughly the same in PvP, but with an improved super. Those were the two things I was most curious about.

Not too much to adapt to, but I'm adapting. I just didn't see all the changes as the world ending like a lot of the community did. I'll just get this bit out of the way and say that PvE is a LOT better for my hunter now. I can finally use my supers to kill things the way they are supposed to. GG feels awesome and powerful, and BD actually clears adds well rather than getting murdered while using it. In PvP: Shadestep is fine. I just need one. It still evades things (I mean, it should, it's an evasive maneuver) and one well timed shadestep is more than enough to add some hunter-like quickness to a fight, without being a turd and spamming it. Smoke is meh. It's fine though. If I'm using the poison to damage, I throw it right at somebody and close for a bullet kill. If I'm using it as a deterrent, I chuck it to cut off an enemies path and shoot like hell until I've made them go the way I want. It's working as intended. Haven't used spike. Need to try that one in CQ map. Haven't noticed anything different with blink or backstab. I've still seen the hit detection on backstab work from the front. Blink is still garbage from the last nerf. I use it to escape and never to close now. Blinkstrike's .4 meter decrease is unnoticeable as well. So. Meh. Arc Blade is better. It rewards more tactical use of the super. The duration is just noticeably longer, and the hit detection is better. I still see people spamming the swings to cover distance, usually for panic kills tho. I like it better tho. Tripmine is a mixed bag. I DO now use them more as a trap, but I'm honestly confused why they made it deal less damage and not more. I mean the idea was to get people to use it as a trap, but no one wants to use a weak trap grenade that is highly noticeable on the floor or wall anyway. If anything it's a bit useless because of the damage decrease. But if I do use it, its in CQ maps on the corner of a hallway/staircase I can't cover. What this does is allow me to HEAR the thing go off, and if it damaged the enemy, gives me the edge to finish him off with bullets. So. It's ok but lackluster. The swarm grenades are better but still kinda meh. It's because they are a situational grenade. I like to use it as a lure now, or toss it at the feet of enemies. As a deterrent it works ok, but any dumbass can see it out in the open. I'll run from an enemy and as they round a corner behind me they step right into the swarm's range, and I'm waiting to gun them down. Tossing at feet is kinda self explanatory. It does most of the damage for you. Just help it out. Throwing knives are kind of a bummer. It did actually take some kind of aim to OHK. And if you missed it did nothing but waste your melee. But still, I back it up with bullets. Toss, then blast, or vice versa. Still works, but makes emcounters more interesting. TL; DR: Basically anything that was nerfed can be backed by bullets. The nightstalker ability changes were fair for both parties. Some of the Bladedancer stuff feels unchanged, but supers are better for those with the skill to use it. Overall it doesn't seem so "nerfed". Just changes the manner you use the stuff. Kills are still possible, but your perks won't hold your hand.

-
7 RepliesJust an idea if u stop crying for nerfs then maybe karma wudnt come back to bite you on the backside lets face it what goes around comes around stop crying for nerfs and learn ya lesson!!!!
-
I'm going to hang up my cloak for good... Thanks my brothers, it has been fun
-
Wombo Combo still works as intended. Only thing you have to really pay attention to is that the enemies can jump away a tiny bit easier. If you nail them with both the poison and grenade, you'll still kill them.
-
I'm not gonna change anything. I main gunslinger and I'm still gonna use trip mines since Its the only hunter nade you can have 2 of. The throwing knife damage isn't going to affect how I use them. I mainly use them following a fusion rifle shot, just to be safe, or when I'm outnumbered and need some quick burst damage.
-
1 ReplyTitan main; The knife nerf was bullshit. You guys didnt need a damage loss. Same for blink strike range loss
-
Nope still using gunslinger but swap out to the helmet to get a longer fun versus the extra trip
-
Hunters got just what they deserved and thats the bottom line cos bungie said so.......(stone cold)
-
main Blade Not very different, super feels longer

Edited by nephidaniels: 6/16/2016 2:51:49 PMI'm a day one player i only play blade dancer in PVP but now it's trash like destiny I don't have to wait till the expansion cause I'm done destiny is broke! They just sent me back the cod lol you have to fix the blade dancer before you can Nerf it he's not a tank supposed to be fast and why is there a invisible pre-hit box so Well played dancing you have to contact twice
-
Blade dancer is pretty fun in pve now
-
Before update I was focused on 100% int and dis, now Im using Int and str build with circle of life, cuz incendiary is bugged
-
1 ReplyNightstaker is still amazing. If you don't absolutely rely on shadestep for all encounters then you can still wreck. Look at my hunters stats, i've gone positive all day
-
The shadestep nerf really only hurts shadestep shot gunners but that was broken anyway to me the nerf does almost nothing and I can still use it for dodging sniper bullets The wombo nerf isn't too much if you throw down your vortex first than your smoke The buff to shadowshot is amazing golden gun buffs are nice rip throwing knives (still are good for finishing off kills) Tripmines suck but luckily incendiary grenades are great Bladedancer was cut up and left to die on the side of the road just like sunbreakers were but if Titans can adapt so will we.

Found this nifty video on Reddit for fellow Bladedancers, https://youtu.be/CkpT5TO7KPU also Blink was nerfed yet again (and not just the -1 recovery).

Shii gonna miss sticking people with tripmines :(
-
Use a NERFED Tripmine to close off an area, and use a throwing knife as a last resort
-
2 RepliesTbh I don't think NS which I main & gunslinger nerfs are that bad I just hate I can't double shade step in pve anymore. I do feel sorry for blade dancers though
-
1 ReplyMain a gunslinger. Played last night didn't see a difference in how my character handled. Trip mine and the throwing knife were not that powerful to begin with so I didn't need to adjust any tactics. They performed the same as always. I use the trip mine to soften targets up and for area denial. The throwing knife for a quick follow-up kill. One thing I would like to see is for them to cut down the delayed trigger time on trip mines. This would balance them out I think.
-
Im just not gonna use trips anymore. Probably incen + bones of eao, which throws a wrench in my carefully crafted set of gear, but. Oh well.
-
I've always used an invis build on my blade dancer so I don't feel the nerf quite as much. Also blade dancer was only meant for precision not flappy birding around the map so the balancing transformed it into what it was meant to do in the first place
-
Bladedancer invisible is weird... Crouch wait 3 seconds Hear invisible sound Not invisible Go invisible after sound Ads still attack me and I die. GG works nicely 1 shot a YB knight in NF (No CNH)
-
Havent played yet, still waiting for all the glitches and issues to get fixed. Unless they have, and in that case ill be on later to witness either how normal or shit gunslingers feel.
