If I were to want the powers of the Deep, I would never accept them from the Deep. I would take them for my own and owe nothing to the Deep. The Deep values strength and the taking of things on your own. Being given something leaves your indebted to the giver. And you don't want to owe the Deep anything.

Yes, take what you want. Giving is for the sky.

Oryx took it and still owed the deep
-
Oryx owed the Deep for the worm he was given. The power of Shapes was something he took by dismembering Akka and using the corpse to make the tablets that allow him to use the power. The power of Shapes was his to command while Orux still owed the Deep for the worm which had given him increasing strength through his battles.
-
So even with him taking he just deepened his hunger
-
Oryx was the first of the siblings to realize the Hive are just living on borrowed time. The worms within them become more ravenous as they are fed and there will be a point where the worm will consume them as the Hive can no longer feed the worm. This is what made Oryx realize the Deep does not give freely, but relishes the act of taking. Of having the strength to take what you will. Not the weakness of having others give strength to you. This is a major reason the Deep despises the Traveler. The Traveler gives freely without expecting anything in return. The Deep does not want a universe full of the weak being raised up by the strong.
-
Ya, we are the good guys and the traveler is also good. Wha hoo.
-
It's actually not that black and white since the Books of Sorrow were released.

I may not know alot and maybe I go based of my feelings, but if there is one thing I know for certain, is we are protectors of humanity, we hold the power to change things, make things go forward with progression. Cold logic may sorround us but that is somthing that can be changed, with light at our side, we will break the darkness. We will grow and with that limitless power, the last city, will soon be known as the first city.
-
And yet the Traveler constantly abandoned civilizations it had brought Golden Ages to. The Traveler only stuck with us because it finally decided to fight back. We constantly kill the Fallen who only wish to reclaim a Golden Age they had lost. We kill the Hive who accepted power from the Deep not knowing the repercussions. The Cabal are only trying to kill us because we keep getting in between them and the Vex. We also have no choice in our lives as soldiers. The Traveler gave us new life and the Light for that singular purpose. Whereas the Deep gave the Hive a choice whether they knew it or not: to accept the strength bestowed by the Deep or to take it by force. Had they chosen to take the strength, they would have never been "forced" into an endless war for the Deep.

Edited by OdinsKnight101: 6/12/2016 8:27:50 PMWhile that maybe true, It has been no effect on us and our power to stop whatever evil comes our way. Sure maybe the travaler had no choice but to stay and fight back, it had to at some point and what better species then the human race. Tell me how is this even bad? Even though we are surrounded and with each passing day, the darkness forever grows in strength. Sure it seems gloomy but let's not forget our greatest accomplishments. We have destroyed gods and time lords plus we continue to grow stronger. To be honest, I feel alot of you people grow your pessimism too much. The books of sorrow are the cause of this I believe. Making you loose faith that our future can be a bright one.

But you see, we followed the rules of the Deep to defeat Hive gods. Lore-wise, we would have never stood a chance against Oryx in his real had we never defeated Crota. And the entirety of Crota's End is essentially a test of strength. Every time we succeeded, our strength grew under Sword Logic. We took strength in the Hive realm through killing. We played the game of the Deep to destroy minions of the Deep. As for Atheon, it was more than likely the weakest of the Vex "gods". Atheon puts a lot of power into sending Guardians across time and creating Oracles to attempt to erase us from time. Enough power he has to become stationary to focus entirely on it. By destroying the Oracles and pulling our Guardians back through time, we disrupt Atheon and can deal increased damage while it recharges its power.

That's why crotas end is a strike. In all seriousness I like to think more like, we keep entering places were our travelers light can NOT reach is. Meaning we are the last and only light in that spacific area, so with the balence completely not in our favour, the light we hold just suddenly grows and gives us the answer to any problem that awaits us. I'm really into yon yang kind of stuff, what both sides of the same coin never understand is that balence for both sides will aways happen. Since we are the last of the light, we are destined to be UNSTOPPABLE.

Then Eris' fireteam should never have failed. Karb's fireteam should never have failed.
