I've definitely noticed that, and it's one of the reasons I got frustrated with the PvP and quit playing for the most part. This must have been apart of their studies. They watch the NBA, and how the refs control the flow and even sometimes the outcomes of the games with how they officiate. "Call this ticky tacky foul now when it's meaningless so that people don't question my horrible call against the other player during crunch time", "This player was defensive MVP, so we should let him get away with a pretty obvious over the back call here", etc. At the end of the day, it's a game, so I don't let myself get too worked up about it, but I really miss the good ole days when I could just hop into matches and not have to just cross my fingers hoping that the game didn't decide that it was my turn to get fvcked over by the connection gods. Also, a thing I've noticed, not just about Destiny, but every COD and Halo before it is if I haven't played with a certain account for a while, I'll get matched against very bad people and I get addicted to the game because I feel like a god. Then, over time (usually the next consecutive day), they'll start matching me against my ACTUAL skill level again. I used to alternate two accounts for this very reason, and I would occasionally start a brand new account just to play against super scrubs just for fun. This even worked in Halo's social playlists where you're led to believe that there is no SBMM. This is actually why I raise my eyebrow to people with ridiculous K/D's. I've had games where there's not a thing I could do. I could play godlike, and my shots were so delayed, it didn't matter. I think people with crazy K/D's somehow (whether they know it or not) found some loophole where connection never crushes them. A 2.5+ K/D isn't possible to maintain in the games I play.

  • I too feel that "skill climbing". But, within the same night even. I've steadily gotten better since I started playing. I play about 6-8 hours of crucible per night. A lot of times, I'll start off the night being able to play casually. At the end of the 8 hours, it feels so sweaty, I've got to shower again before bed. I'll notice, if I'm doing really good for about 4 or 5 games, 6 of the best players from the original group of 12 will suddenly be put on a team together and matched against a new group of 6 players, that I imagine were the best 6 out of 12 players in the lobby that they we just in. It will continue on with this model, until by the end of the night, you're playing as kind of like the "best of the best" out of your class and skill level. That's when it gets sweaty.

  • I agree, I think some players know how to get the connections to work in their favor whether through manipulation or something else, I'm not sure

  • I don't think they do it on purpose, I think that they just maybe live in a lucky area where they happen to always have host or something. I mean, you watch guys like Wish play and you never see their shots have any delay, then you'll see guys trying to shoot them, and they'll be facing practically the other direction. It's not just the fact that they always have host by itself that's so bad. When you always have host, you're allowed to get away with a really loose playing style. That's why you see them constantly jumping in the air and taking on two guys at once. When games lag, you're forced to play cautiously and campy. I just watched a highlights of some guy using a fusion rifle and he bragged about his K/D being 3.47. Lol, the spread on the fusion rifle is way too crazy for someone with any delay in their connection. You HAVE to have host to do well with that thing, and to a lesser degree, to do well with a pulse rifles. I'm forced to use scouts and hand cannons to have my shots hit consistently. I'm not mad, I just wish that I could figure out how to always have host like that too.
