The thing I most appreciate, when it comes to music, is a powerful, dominating singing voice. I respect a song's melody and the work of great musicians, but it's that natural power I love the most.
First off, I'm a huge Queen™ fan, so my opinion is biased. Even with that said, I think it would be hard to argue against the super-human singing voice of Freddie Mercury. Above is an article about the science behind his amazing singing ability. If you have never listened to Queen™, but have an appreciation for truly amazing talent, take a listen, the man was amazing and a huge loss.

3 RepliesEdited by Im Perma Banned: 4/21/2016 9:47:17 PMRobert Plant had much more control over his voice. This isn't a subjective matter, this is simply a fact. He could bend notes into flats/sharps to the same extent as a guitar could. Freddie couldn't do this.

Queen™
Um...Queen is not a trademark.

He was good, but not as good as Frank Sinatra.
-
Freddie was a fantastic singer but a better showman .
-
He was incredible and Queen's music still holds up today Can't say he's the most talented because that would imply I've heard every vocalist, and vocal styles and necessary abilities differ across genres

5 RepliesNo bob Dylan

If he only did, he may be still around.

It's always down to personal taste and Freddie was incredibly gifted but for me the best vocalist is the big O
Roy Orbison
Yeah, Freddie's one of the best to ever do it. Idk about best, but I'd put him in the conversation
-
In terms of singing talent, he was one of the best, if not the best, male vocalist ever. But in terms of specific genre, I think 1983-1995 James Hetfield is the best. But that's my opinion. Though Megadeth is my favorite band ever, Dave isn't as good as James in terms of singing prowess, though he is pretty good. And he still sings almost as good as he did in the 80s, something that cannot be said for James.

Edited by Moon Made Waves: 4/20/2016 8:06:33 PMI can get down with that. I do think Chris Cornell could be in the discussion as well.

Ronnie James Dio is another vocalist of the highest calibre.

Everyone knows a Queen song, whether or not they know it

Not a big fan, but he is awesome

Not a big fan tbh. Their songs are to cheesy for me. In terms of singers Richard Ashcroft is a brilliant vocalist
-
Dude also looked like a fuucking Barbie doll.

2 RepliesHe was great. Just why did they do this now? He's been dead for years.

1 ReplyAs far as straight up vocals goes I think Andrea Bocelli, the classical opera singer, is the best. If Jesus Christ sang he would probably sound like him.

7 RepliesAnybody saying "best vocalist" without following up with "Mike Patton" is factually incorrect.
