I did some calculation a while back, and I gauged Destiny's raw content count based on the following metric: -each story mission is 15 minutes -each strike is 15 minutes -each Prison of Elders challenge is 1 hour -each raid is 3 hours And based on that this game rounds out to having 31.5 hours of raw content. Single playthrough only, never doing the same thing twice for ANY reason. Considering that 31.5 hours cost many of us $140, that is a horribly low amount of content that they expect us to replay over and over so much. But let's get past that and onto this. Using that same metric, this update is giving an additional 2.5 hours of content (even if a good chunk of it is recycled/remixed, I'll still count it) to anyone that's actually still playing the game (seriously, what's the population count of active players without TTK? Let's be real here.), for free. That's... actually not [i]that[/i] bad. That's actually a fairly decent slice, really, and I do applaud Bungie for taking this step. I know that from a business perspective, doing nice stuff for free can be risky, and I think it's worth venerating them for taking that step anyway. But there's still two big problems that lessen the positive impact it has, and they're both related to the update's launch window: 1. anyone familiar with the phrase "too little, too late"? Well, consider that this update will be launching 19 months after the original game. This is the [b]first time[/b] Destiny is getting free content that players aren't expected to buy cool shit for, or that's limited time only (or that isn't just Elimination with only two players instead of three), and it's happening over a year and a half after the game launched. Seriously? It took them THAT LONG? Other companies do this "free stuff" gig all the time, within a matter of months after their games come out, and Bungie takes 19 months to get on that same train? Why'd it take so long? Well, unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I know why, and it isn't a pretty answer. 2. this update comes around a similar launch window to The Division. For anyone that doesn't know, The Division is basically Destiny's first real competitor. Same market audience, same general quirk (FPSMMORPG... okay, The Division is actually a TPS, big whoop), etc. Destiny went 18 months with nothing really trying to draw attention from it. But now it does. So the launch window of this update? I highly doubt it's a coincidence. Bungie are aware that for the first time their game is in danger, so now they actually have to "try" to keep people around. Hence... free update. So even when they're trying to do something nice, Bungie STILL has an ulterior motive! It's crazy! I'm so glad I don't put up with this anymore! I mean, I'd be lying if I said the new update didn't interest me, but it's not worth getting caught up in the Destiny trap AGAIN when I finally got myself free once. I'm gonna give it a pass.

they deliberately took stuff away (made it pointless) just so they can rehash it after 6 months and make it feel like something new , lazy and pathetic , the 500 000 000 $ budget could have been spent better

Everyone is crying about how disappointed they are in a FREE update Sure I'm a little frustrated with the way Bungie is Handling year 2 but I gotta say, adding 2 strikes to the rotation, a couple missions making some old content relevant again, a vender refresh and gear, and updating Kings Fall and Court of oryx is not a bad move on bungies part. And its FREE so it costs you nothing I would understand being frustrated if we had to pay for this but we don't so I don't see a problem It just adds more to do in a game I really enjoy

The same people defending bungie on this and supporting it, are the same ones who a week after launch will be saying how terrible it is. They did the same for original PoE, were hyped about it, and a week to 2 weeks after it came out, were saying how lame and bland it was, this time won't be any different.

If you guys can do better please show us and develop new content, see just how long it takes to design this shit. Until you start showing the rest of us you can do better either shut up or move on ffs.

Free content on a game that's a year and a half old, but yeah, keep whining ya dopey titbags

Expecting a new raid in this [b]free[/b] spring [i]update[/i] is just unrealistic. Every raid until now has been paid. Every raid has been part of an "expansion" or full game launch, not part of an update. VoG = Vanilla, $60 CE = TDB, $20 PoE = HOW, $20 KF = TTK, $40 Moving on... I don't know how long the new quest will be. I expected at least ~3 missions before ending up at the new Strike, not sure if that's still a possibility or not. Did they confirm the quest is just one mission? Prison of Elders revamp looks "meh" at first sight. I have to play it first to see if it's fun, and especially if it's truly replayable for a long period. I'm afraid it might become boring after 2-3 weeks. To be honest, I was expecting the first twitch to be the most interesting one. But now I'm looking forward more to the "new things to earn" one. Lot's of interesting stuff happening with weapon shaders, taken shaders, beautiful sets of armor, new sword. And I completely neglected the third twitch stream, but as some say, it's dedicated to the crucible. If we get 2 new maps and a new game mode, it might actually start to feel like a decent sized update that's capable of entertainment for at least a month.

Dude it's a 'free' update for TTK owners. If we were paying 10 maybe 15 quid for it then there'd be a backlash. We're not and we've not even seen everything they're doing.

Destiny is killing itself. Bringing back Prison of Elders is a joke. It was hatched at some recent meeting when they realized they couldn't keep their players happy. PoE was hard when it first came out. Skolas was almost impossible without a Gjallarhorn. Not to mention I had elemental primaries plus special and heavy weapons which I reforged to perfection so I could actually keep my sanity while dealing with endless bullet-sponge adds. Oh yeah, there was also ice breaker and black hammer too. Now there are none of those things. No elemental primaries. No weapon reforging. All the great year 1 weapons are either nerfed or obsolete. I'm pretty sure this update will not provide me with anything "fun", which is why I play this game - for fun. To make matters worse, I don't have a good void shotgun, a good arc sniper, a good arc or void hmg, or a good arc or void rocket launcher. I know there are exotics like Truth, Hereafter, Thunderlord, etc. I'd be a lot happier if I could grind for weapons I liked and reforged them to fulfill a specific purpose and use my exotic slot on something fun rather than necessary. I had that ability once, but not anymore. My Destiny existence has been a joke as I see other "luckier" people who have the same weapons as I but with better perks and it pisses me off that their skill at least partially boils down to luck. It shouldn't be that way. But it is. And I'm positive it's that way because some butt hurt dev wanted it like that. Newsflash Bungie, you guys took all the fun out of weapon reforging and people still don't use most of the weapons from the vendors. The ones that people do use it seems like everyone uses. Why give those lucky enough to get a good roll a competitive advantage? Oh, I know. It's because you don't give a -blam!- if this game is fun anymore. Next week MLB the show comes out and I'll be playing Destiny a lot less after that.
