With the latest update came some news that suggests we just might be getting the Y1 raids back with relevant loot! What does this mean? Well if and when this happens the forums will be flooded with the annoying cry baby posts about people's raid requirements. But I believe this time around it won't be so much about light level and more about experience. Example being that I'm sure many of you newer players have been blessed by RNGesus and made it to 320, however that's not gonna help you if you have no idea what the -blam!- you're doing!
So here is a list of some things to help prepare yourself and avoid being kicked from any raid group.
Vault of Glass
- Make sure you have a solid void weapon, those minotaurs are assholes.
- Learn to run the relic!! Any year one player can tell you the annoyance of getting to Templar or gatekeeper only to ask who wants to run relic and have the fireteam fall silent. Or having to wipe because all 3 players who get teleported don't know how to use it.
- Get yourself a Black Spindle, SGA, Sleeper. These will be especially useful for atheon and oracles.
- Practice! Do the raid now and learn the mechanics! Learn the gorgon maze, jumping puzzle. Learn how the raid works!
Edit - NEVER open the spirit bloom chest. (If you're superstitious that is lol)
From A Nerfed Titan -
For Vault of Glass: If you are in a containment field or in the Aegis shield (bubble generated by the relic) DO NOT USE ANY TYPE OF EXPLOSIVES!! doing so will kill you.
When fighting Atheon: If you get teleported and you see "hold X/A" on your screen do not do so unless you know and are comfortable using the relic.
From The True Thienen - Don't use the sleeper inside the relic bubble. It will melt you!
Crota's End
- Hunters if you don't have a pair of Don't Touch Me gauntlets, I suggest you get a pair.
- Learn the lanterns maze, most of us year one players know it like the back of our hands!
- Make good use of your subclass when it comes to generating orbs. I'm looking at you Nightstalkers, those orbs are going to be important!
- Make sure you have a helmet with infusion (health regeneration on orb pick up) there's no chalice on hard mode!
Having a Red Death is also very helpful for regening health.
- Have a good rocket launcher with tracking
- BRING HEAVY AMMO SYNTHS!!! Just ask a Y1 player about the NLB heavy glitch. Don't get caught without synths.
Some general advice is to learn the raid. Practice it now while they are much easier.your light level isn't going to matter if you don't know how the raid works. If you're on my raid team and don't know what you're doing you won't be on my fireteam for very long! So start preparing now to avoid the frustration of not being able to find a team when they bring back these raids!
If I've missed any good advice or you've got something to add comment below and I'll add it to the list!!
Edit: As many of you have pointed out I may be reading too much into the weekly update. That very well may be the case. HOWEVER I'd like to think at some point we will get the old raids back, it would just make sense. IF and when we do this post was simply meant as a way for Y1 players to share some words of wisdom to help prepare newer players for our beloved end game activities that we've put so many hours into. Thanks for all the positive replies and great info guys!
Edit 2: Trending!
Edit 3: Wow over 500 replies!

1 ReplyI'm a ttk initiate and while my team concentrates on kf. But since we progressed to oryx hm, we have made a point of doing the y1 stuff. Only a few completions so far but there's going to be plenty more. Crota and vog are damn good raids. Personally I think it's great and hope it all gets brought up. If the last word I got from vog over the weekend was 310 instead of 160...

1 ReplyI'd love to see some challenge modes. Can't have the same relic holder twice. Templar can't teleport. No same sword bearer twice. Things like that!

Replayability, sir. Old raids aren't replayable. "NEW PVE CONTENT WITH REPLAYABILITY"

Edited by Piggyback: 2/18/2016 12:55:13 PMGood thread. I've run Crota's solo several times so I'm pretty comfortable with the mechanics. Only done VoG once for NTTE. Pretty familiar with the Templar and Atheon, but some practice would be great. Still don't know my way around the Gorgon maze. Anyone on PS4 want to run VoG now?

1 ReplyThis is some good advice for people who are going to do the y1 raids for th first time...

1 ReplyYou missed the titans with bubbles for the Crota hard raid. Use them to keep the boomers busy

4 RepliesI want a y2 Facebanger.

That is a lot of effort to put it to complete speculation.

If you stand too close to the conflixes inside the Vault the Vex will just start teleporting onto it.
-
Also prepare for me to get 3x as many kills as you and to carry you through the raid.

Please don't jinx this

3 RepliesHa ha ha " who getting the relic , who is getting the relic ????

Oh the heavy ammo problem. Ive always got 20+ of each synth. Crota taught me that. There was nothing worse than hearing 3-4 people say after a few wipes that they have no heavy.
-
Im sure if we get the old raid backs people will be happy to have an old raider like me with plenty of experience on every aspect of the raids.

They would not produce the results most people think; they would be boring..And why would any year 1 player want to grind some old beaten to death raid. We want a new raid.

5 RepliesDo any y1's know how to form the bridge properly (sending 1 guardian at a time) in the 2nd section of the Crota raid? We may not be able to rely on the typical cheese for that section. I have faith, but I know that 90% of groups sent people to the top to despawn the thrall.

1 ReplyEdited by MrButterPancake: 2/17/2016 5:40:18 PMIt is possible to kill a gorgon but you have pump out alot of dps on a short time.
-
4 RepliesIf people seriously say "must have spindle" or "must have sleeper" for VoG, i'll lose all faith in the players of this game and never raid again
-
I always open the spirit bloom chest. I'm probably one of the only lucky Gaurdians to get an exotic from it. No I didn't exactly get it out of the chest but I got an legendary engram from it. After the raid I went to visit my good old friend Rahool. And what did he give me but a Patiance and Time. Don't know what those odds are but I bet it didn't happen very often.

Crota's End Lamp Maze: 1. Get an Ice Breaker 2. Run until there's a shit ton of thrall behind you 3. Turn around really quick and shove the Ice Breaker's Barrel down the throat of the closest thrall 4. Have Ice Breaker's special perk proc and explosion (It's like Firefly, but doesn't require a precision kill, just a kill) 5. ????? 6. Profit

1 ReplyEdited by MrButterPancake: 2/17/2016 2:46:32 PMI love the nickname you gave us year 2 players.

3 RepliesDo not blink, shoulder charge, double jump, turn invisible (yes! They can hear that!) or sprint near a Gorgon, you will cause a wipe

Running Relic is easy. Never understood why some people suck at running it. Same with Swordbearing. It's infinitely easier (and quicker) if you have a Bladedancer, but it's still not too hard with another class.

1 ReplyRemember to stop shouting 'I need a cleanse" at the guy with the relic. His screen will be as dark as yours. Used to do my head in

3 RepliesGet to know that which side Mars and Venus teleports are during the Atheon fight. (Mars=left and Venus=right.) and if in doubt, look at your radar.
