Decided to wear my engram mask and de-level myself to try and make it more fair for the opposition...
I still do 400+ headshots with my sniper and 150+ to the body...
How much does it really matter?

10 RepliesEdited by Zain: 11/14/2015 7:47:04 AMPeople have the wrong idea about light. Say Im 290, with a 300 primary but a year one secondary. The year one secondary will he doing year one damage, not 290 damage. Light is an amalgamation of your power turned into an average indicator. In trials, once you hit 290, all difference between higher light levels in negligible.
-
1 ReplyThe only thing it really effects is primaries, unless it really trashes your light level. I tried my year 1 spare change and instead of hitting for 38 on crits, it hit for 27. Did kill a guy with it though lol
-
2 RepliesSo if I run around with my year 1 guns will I still do as much damage?
-
1 ReplyWhat matters most is weapon damage. My year 1 longbow cant 1 shot off revive in trials because it's 170 damage, but I were to put on a 170 armor piece and go down to around 298-300 then no it wont matter much at all. In fact I occasionally use old y1 exotics in trials and feel no difference.

1 ReplyLvl 312 sunbreaker titan or self res warlock. Looking to do 2 flawless runs. I have the flawless emblem. Message Zander 7589 if your good
-
2 RepliesSkill matters above all I watch a guy from the 13 devils on twitch, he use to go down to 290 light and wrecks people all the time.
-
4 RepliesLol work on your Rumble skill
-
1 ReplyNope. There has to be such a huge difference in light for it to actually be noticeable (like 50 light difference). It's similar to IB which is NO different than Crucible.
-
1 ReplyYes it does. Please don't believe me and go into trials with old weapons. Please. Last week. My group out the Halloween masks on and right away, we could tell we took way more damage. We have faced other teams using older weapons and they always switch back. Also, I'm 316, I 1 shot a hammer Titan with a full shield and health, he was 305. Earlier, it took 2 shots to kill a 312.
-
1 ReplyNot really, I was a 287 and could still easily get kills on 310+ targets

Edited by CannyJack: 11/14/2015 5:59:43 PMNot very much, and essentially zero if people are within 20 points of each other. You might see one bullet lose one point of damage, sometimes.

This is the current light system: weapon light levels for damage Armor light levels for damage resistance Total light level for minimal requirement joins. Total light level is the assumption that your current armor and weapons combined can effectively clear the task at hand.
-
I think your the level of your weapon matters
-
I went 1win with a team of 200 lighta
-
It never has it's a lie from bungie in my opinion. Or it's such a small difference that I or anyone I've played with can notice it
-
I was trolling using Gjallarhorn last week during Trials. It can still kill revives with ease.
-
9 RepliesNo I plan on using Mida because I can be 298 with it
-
It doesn't matter
-
2 RepliesWeapon light matters a lot. I can be 294 with Ice Breaker and still one shot a normal health guardian but it cannot one shot on a revive.
-
1 ReplyLight does matter but skill will always makes light negligible
-
4 Repliestrust me, you need the extra light level... scrub
-
4 RepliesEnough that wearing my usual gear and equipping a no land beyond can't one-shot headshot 305+ light guardians in trials.
-
Nope. Never did. Never will.
-
2 RepliesAfter a certain point, it's incredibly marginal. It also serves as an excuse for scrubs for why they lost.
-
4 RepliesEdited by GHOST 9o5: 11/14/2015 6:37:42 AMPretty serious when my Flux won't OHKO them.
