So, I decided to figure out what a Fatebringer is "worth". Here's the math:
1. I've seen it posted that the drop rate of Fatebringer is approximately 10%. That seems about right based on my experience. So, on average you'll have to run 10 raids to get one, and each raid takes approximately one hour. (let's just assume you do the full raid and don't bail after the Templar.) So, that's 10 hours.
2. Once you have it, you'll have to level it by completing bounties, killing enemies, etc. Taking a wild shot in the dark, let's say that takes another 2 hours. So now we're up to 12 hours of "work".
3. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the average hourly wage in the U.S. is around $25. Therefore, a 300 damage Fatebringer that took us 12 hours to obtain and level is worth 12*25 = $300.
But wait.... Now you have to ascend it. So you have to get yourself an Etheric Light. So that means running the PoE on 34 at least once. That's another half hour, or another $12.50.
So, all told, a Fatebringer is "worth" about $312.50.

2 RepliesIts not worth any money. I already paid for the game so im not payin extra for every hour I spend. Its a good gun and my favorite legendary primary but no.. not worth no -blam!-in 300 bucks. Id pay a dollar for it.
-
22 Repliesminimum wage is around 8 ...not 25 lol therefore it's worth 64$ but it's a trash. gun so it's worthless
-
10%? Lies
-
I will buy 10 for $30. Deal or no deal?
-
9 Replies25$ dollars an hr average lol.most americans dont make 15
-
Totally worth it. I'll sell my ascended Fatebringer to you for a paltry $250.
-
What have I done... I've dismantled all my fatebringer except for one... all that money lost :(
-
3 RepliesI just wasted $0.82 reading that and another $36.47 coming up with this clever reply, which obviously isn't worth it...
-
My Fatebringer is priceless :)

3 RepliesI vote the labor statistics are fudged by our government just like unemployment rates. If I had to give an average off of all the people I know I would say the average is more so around $12.50/hr maybe a little more. Also once you are on the unemployment line for so long they take you off and you are no longer counted as a unemployed statistic, so if they say 11% you can count on it actually being closer to 22% unemployment rate or higher.
-
25$ an hour? Maybe if you mix in all the doctors and lawyers
-
3 RepliesWage rates are misleading due the top one percent make it way higher that what would be considered average
-
2 RepliesEdited by Mr Ilax: 8/19/2015 8:30:49 PM$25/hr would be an opportunity cost if allowed for unlimited labor. If you weren't going to work those hours anyways, your cost is $0. If you were going to work, but played Destiny instead, you would have to operate under the assumption that the sole driver for your actions is to obtain and level a Fatebringer. Every other desired action that was taken concurrently would discount the cost.

well done! you do not need to explain your humor to these philistines. cheers.
-
Clever, but a lot of that relied on guessing and "wild shots in the dark." To actually know how much Fatebringer is "worth" relies on your skill factor, not to mention the actual drop rates.
-
That average wage is bullshit. Median would prob show closer number
-
Humour fail unless you get paid to play #failfish

4 RepliesWhere the f€¥k do so many people make 25 an hour? There are plenty of factory workers here in America that make less than $15 an hour. In many states, you have to be a union member to make $15 an hour or more.
-
Average wage is not $25...
-
3 Replies10%? I guess im lucky to get it on my first vog hard run.
-
2 RepliesSo if I have 3 fatebringers and 3 of everything in the game my account is worth at least $50,000 OK selling my whole PSN account for $500,000 any takers please reply
