So, I decided to figure out what a Fatebringer is "worth". Here's the math:
1. I've seen it posted that the drop rate of Fatebringer is approximately 10%. That seems about right based on my experience. So, on average you'll have to run 10 raids to get one, and each raid takes approximately one hour. (let's just assume you do the full raid and don't bail after the Templar.) So, that's 10 hours.
2. Once you have it, you'll have to level it by completing bounties, killing enemies, etc. Taking a wild shot in the dark, let's say that takes another 2 hours. So now we're up to 12 hours of "work".
3. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the average hourly wage in the U.S. is around $25. Therefore, a 300 damage Fatebringer that took us 12 hours to obtain and level is worth 12*25 = $300.
But wait.... Now you have to ascend it. So you have to get yourself an Etheric Light. So that means running the PoE on 34 at least once. That's another half hour, or another $12.50.
So, all told, a Fatebringer is "worth" about $312.50.

5 RepliesThe problem with the 25 dollars is that both Donald Trump and the guy that handed me my coffee through little windows at Dunkin Donuts are included in the average.
-
So that means I could have earned $312 dollars but instead I leveled up my fatebringer? ...Cool
-
1 ReplyIf you order in the next 5 minutes we will DOUBLE the offer! That's right! That means TWO Fatebringers for the price of one! Just pay separate shipping and handling!
-
Where the F is the average wage 25$ an hour lol
-
I've had two for a while now. Still can't be bothered using them, I like my scout rifles too much. Cool conversion you did though.

2 RepliesAverage hourly wage is $25. In America? Bahahahaha!

Here's where I come in.... You put in an average amount of VoG runs one must do in order to acquire a Fatebringer, but what happens when I acquire it in less than ten runs? Does this lessen the value of Fatebringer for me, or for other people, or for everyone? Or maybe, not at all?

Edited by BunkerGATE13: 8/20/2015 12:21:23 AMGood for when it hits the black market. This how those prices are made. I'm assuming destiny is going pay to win (with item shop) hence why we have no trading system and an app. Could go on horseback a while about this.. and have in the past.. but find hardly anyone reads long posts

11 RepliesIf you think playing a video game is worth an average hourly salary, you're off your rocker.
-
1 ReplyJust like everything else in the world....it's worth exactly what someone else is willing to pay for it. If it were actually possible, I would gladly sell my fb for 300 bucks...problem is, I doubt that I would be able to find anyone willing to pay that for it.
-
3 RepliesIt's worth like 5 bucks in my mind. Wouldn't pay any more for pixels
-
2 RepliesI'll pay $312.50 to have the availability to keep all my Iron Banner weapons. I WORKED FOR THEM. All bought, none dropped. (and don't troll. I know my luck)
-
25 an hour is for people that don't play destiny try more like 10 so 112.50$ for a fatebringer.
