  • Bungie, I feel that by focusing on the details your are not seeing the big picture. The are many aspects of Destiny to enjoy, but the strongest draw for me and most of the Guardians I have played with has always been the quest for the truly great weapons. When that first Gally, Fatebringer or Ice Breaker dropped it was a very memorable moment and everytime (and I mean everytime) I use these weapons, I remember that feeling and experience the joy of felling bad guys with them. The same goes for quest exotics. The Thorn and Bad Juju were brutal slogs for me (I'm hopeless in the Crucible) and therefore I really feel I've earned the right to wield these superior tools and for them to outperform the weapons of Guardians who haven't achieved or expended the effort I have. By nerfing these guns, because they create tiers of 'haves' and 'have nots', takes away the joy from my game and therefore my reason to play. If you want to create balance, by all means buff underperforming ones so that they are fun to use as well, but don't level the playing field by making all weapons underperform, that will just lead to lack lustre combat and who wants that? If you're really concerned about players being excluded from raids without a Gally, let Xur sell it regularly or create a suitable exotic bounty for it. The other problem with nerfing, especially nerfing whole classes, is that people will choose not to use that weapon and simply migrate to the new 'best' weapon. This happened with the Suros Regime, The Vex Mythoclast, Thorn, etc and with Autorifles, to Hand Cannons to Shotguns. People will always tend to gravitate to the best option and it usually becomes adopted by the overwhelming majority. Nerfing for balance is a game of whack-a-mole, it's futile and never ends. By buffing underperforming weapons you have a chance of creating genuine options for people and stand a better chance of creating diversity. Finally, the PvE/PvP stat separation is a real positive direction. PvE is non-competitive and should not suffer from fixes to PvP balance issues. I understand your point that a group of players can work together and plan to overcome the toughest PvE challenges using a particular weapon in a particular way, but you are missing the big picture again , as this is precisely what you said you created the game for and how your community wants to play it.
