So I'm getting a real hawkmoon made
So I'm going to talk to my gunsmith tomorrow and I want him to design a real life Hawkmoon. The question is which caliber should I go with, let me know what you guys think.

nice. I plan on doing this as well. S&W 500 with a custom frame and cylinder for the look and 13 round capacity and perk match with 3 magnum rounds loaded randomly in the cylinder. the barrel of the 500 is long enough to match the accuracy and range of hawkmoon. Mine will be a show gun. displayed in a locked glass case in my living room.

6 RepliesAnybody who says 44 mag or bigger is a moron who doesn't enjoy shooting for fun. If this is a display piece than go for 44 mag or bigger. If you're actually going to use it for fun, .357 or even 45LC. There is nothing enjoyable about shooting a 44 mag, kicks like a mule and cheap rounds are still $1/bullet. Both the .357 and 45LC are versatile as you can also use .38 special or a 410 shotgun shell.

Look up statistics. 44 mag may sound cool, but 357 has the overall highest first shit stop rate of all time. 99.9% when using Federal brand hydra shocks. Behind that is actually 45 acp. 44 mag is cool, but at the end of the day not the best round. Now if you just want "bad ass" and loud noise. Go for the 44, or he'll .50 lol.

The caliber that allows you to shot as fast as in the game, with as low recoil, high accuracy, and chamber as many rounds.

I only ask because The Last Word is almost already doable because of the chiappa rhino being low axis. HM is more traditional but looks elaborate as hell. As far as the caliber I still like 45lc, but I'm old fashioned. The Eastwood fan in me says 44 mag all the way. Also... Hex cylinder? Huh?
