Edit 1: this has been trending for a full day :D. I am considering doing 1,000 strikes to get a better data table to work with which should provide a better understanding of rng for roc strikes, if this is something that people are interested in let me know with a reply and likes. And once again I'd appreciate if you would play the video just to add that 1 view if you found this helpful/informative.

1 Reply1000 strikes would be awesome. Instead of you doing another 800, you could get 4 volunteers to run 200 for you and compile it. Would save you a lot of time and effort and you would get results quicker.

Edited by jay p: 1/14/2015 5:49:00 PMThis thread makes me so sad. For everyone saying that you can never know the exact numbers. Of course you can't. But with a large enough sample size, you could be 99.999999999999999999999999% sure. And that's really reliable enough for anyone, especially for a video game. For the people saying that if you did it another 200 times, you would get different numbers. This just shows a basic misunderstanding of statistics and number probability. If he did another 200 strikes, would his numbers be exactly the same? Maybe, maybe not. But that's not the point. The point is to collect data to gather a large enough sample size to we can generally rely on the results. For those saying that it doesn't matter, any time you que up your rewards are just random. Of course this is true. This is just a restatement of the classic gambler's fallacy. But it can give you an idea of the likelihood of you receiving a specific reward if you were to look prospectively into the future. For instance, it would give you an idea of what type of rewards you could statistically expect if you were in the future to run 20 strikes. All of this is basic, low level statistical analysis. Sample size is important, of course, but sample sizes have to start somewhere.

Pretty cool man. 100 strikes for 1 exotic huh? Guess I better get to work.

2 RepliesEdited by SauceKey: 1/14/2015 4:36:39 PMQuestion: Are these numbers recorded from your drops or from everyone in the team? Did you run 200 strikes with the same other 2 players and compare drop rates for everything to see if it's still a consistent number between all 3 players? (I didn't watch the vid if it was explained in there)
-
1 Replyquestion do you complete the entire strike, or skip most of it?
-
2 RepliesWoah man lots of Hard work. Much Appreciated. May I ask what Exotics you got?
-
1 ReplyNice stats mate. How long did it take you? Did you do them over a few day period?
-
13 RepliesNice stats to bad they dont mean shit because it is RNG. you my friend just wasted your time
-
3 Repliesdude its completely random what you get is not what everyone else gets. i played 20 roc's and got 3 exotics, 0 legendary's, 36 rares, 3 ships, and 2 shaders in one day. the next day did 20 more, totally different rewards 0 exotics, 4 legendary's, 34 rares, 2 ships, and 4 shaders. you can do the strikes as many times as you want, the loot is random. the entire game is run on an rng system (RNG= random number generator) key word "random"..........
-
1 Replystop saying you are GOING to do 1000 and do it. your data is shi t without a larger sample size. you are a smart kid. you know this. do IT. 1K strikes will get you WAY more views than 100......
-
I'd like to see the stats on 1,000 strikes
-
RNG is weird. I've done like 20 strikes with only blues then I do 3 strikes the next day and get 3 legendaries like WTF
-
That's awesome dude id love to see more results
-
It's nice to see an expressed algorithm of RNG as displayed with one case study. Kudos, friend.
-
TY for all your hard work.
-
1 ReplyThis means absolutely nothing to anyone but you. This is your drop rates not ours.
-
There is still a percentage in RNG. It just depends on the math behind it. What is the range for the random numbers? What result qualifies as a win from random numbers and what does it win you? How many random numbers are being generated when you do specific action? Etc, etc etc. After you get all the different factors of what makes up the loot system you can create a percentage. Now, that doesn't guarantee anything but it does give you an idea on what normal game play should provide you. Of course, none of that needs to be worried about if you buy one of my RNGesus Crystals. They will give you an Exotic every 10 mins. Only $1,337.99 a crystal. (Tax not included)

very nice

Of course a larger sample size would be better, but the numbers provided give a good deal of what we should be expecting out chances to be (and they're believable). Great job!
-
Interesting numbers, thanks for the info ;)
-
8 RepliesInsufficient sample size
-
Although each account has there own roll percentage. So... Ya it might take about a 1000 for a better idea.. Facepalms

1 Replythe people commenting here are completely oblivious to the meaning of statistics... really, if you're one of the persons saying the data is irrelevant because it's random, please shut up, you're embarrassing yourself with your stupidity. I'm not even going to elaborate cause you wouldn't understand anyway! To OP: awesome job, matches my stats, i've received 2 exotics in about 280 strikes! keep up the good work! I subscribed

42 RepliesAn exotic every 100 strikes? Lol, I wish. Im over 700 strikes in and have only had 3 exotics drop. Your numbers dont mean anything.
-
Good job, your sample size it's a little small though, in terms of players not strikes. For the amount of people that play Destiny you'd probably need at least %10-%20 across all consoles to do 200 strikes to get a real feel for the rng of the roc playlist. For example, over 30 strikes I got a legendary ship ever 3 strikes. Over that same course of strikes I also averaged 3 rare engrams and 1 rare armor. where post strike rolls factored in with these numbers? like how you can end with 2 rewards or 5? I'd be willing to help on ps4 Curt_The_Kid803
