bring back material exchange for rep?
So I'm starting a poll, and hoping it works as a petition also, to bring back the material exchange for crucible/vanguard reputation gain. Reason I personally want this back is because of two reasons.
1. I dislike playing crucible, it just makes me angry and unhappy and that's not why I play games. I love the PvE side of destiny, but I just don't enjoy pvp on any game.
2. The vanguard quartermaster has horrible weapons, so I'm stuck with 8 vanguard commendations I don't need and will not use. Unfortunately the crucible quartermaster has several weapons that I would love to have, including but not limited to the rapier, but grinding that crucible rank just puts me in the position to get pissed off a lot.
So take the vote, post your comment, and please bump the post if you agree so we can get some attention to this and see if it's even possible.
Also, I'm asking for this to be brought back, not for the material purchase that we have now to be taken away.

I hate crucible it's the fact us PvE have been FORCED into the worst part of the game the crucible just to get weapons etc Bring material exchange back I would rather spend hrs of collecting than 5mins in the crucible match Hope this is brought back ASAP Also the cap on marks is far to low it should be 200 at least

I'd like this feature again. Some of that crucible gear is pretty cool. But I hate PvP.

3 RepliesMy question is if putting on a faction class item will make all rep gained from either vanguard or crucible go towards that faction, why can't we use vanguard and/or crucible marks/commendations to buy stuff from the factions as well? Why is it only crucible marks?

i think they got rid of it so you couldn't buy materials with vanguard marks and sell them to the crucible rep for rank and marks, and vice verse. that is what i would do as i dislike crucible and the time it takes to acquire marks and rep.

I literally have hundreds of all material types and crucible marks take forever to accumulate. Bring back the material for marks exchange. Also if you are in need of a crucible commendation just wear class items from fwc etc and once you pass level 3 they will give you crucible commendations. Not that it helps much with the marks but I only play crucible when I run out of shit to do in the real game. If I was all about PvP I would yell and scream with the tards on COD.

5 RepliesWhat's mind-boggling about the current system; mats for marks, is bungie is essentially saying mats are somehow more valuable than marks. Why in the world would I ever trade my precious marks for materials? Materials I can easily pick up out in the wild. Especially at the current exchange rate It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Bring it back, but keep the patrol missions/daily mission rewards being planetary materials. Also, strikes should award 5 planetary mats in addition to any other rewards people may get. Except for weekly/nf strikes, which should award 20 and 25 mats, respectively.

2 RepliesI want it back just so I can get rid of all the materials taking up space in my vault and on my characters. What do I need 400+ spinmetal for? Am I supposed to stop picking up chests on earth and pass up possible legendary engrams just so I don't get more spinmetal? I don't have enough items to level up that require spinmetal. I need some way of getting rid of it.

I don't mind not getting reputation gain from material exchange. I also don't mind not getting PvP marks for turning in mats gathered from PvE activities (as long as DO, FWC, and NM are adjusted to take either mark/commendation). What I do mind is having nothing to do with all of the excess mats building up on my characters. I would love to be able to offload some (300 of all but Helium) of my mats for [u]something[/u], rather than the nothing currently available.

Whatever they do we need something worthwhile to do with all this stuff! I'm just shovelling the resources into my vault each time I get a 200 stack in the hopes that it might be useful again one day.

19 RepliesSo then what would stop people from buying mats with vanguard marks then trading the mats back in for crucible marks? If you want crucible gear you should have to grind crucible. End of story.

I been getting materials from opening loot chests, bounties and some missions. it's taking up a lot of space, please bring back exchange!

I thought it was still there after the transition, I ended up buying 200 relic iron because I wasn't paying attention. I want it back. I have a ton of materials that I don't use that much and would love to trade them in for somejong

1 Replyyeah, i miss mat turn in. i dont have quite as much as you guys do, on account of recently picking up multiple weapons and gear that require spinmetal, but i still have between 400-600 spinmetal no matter what i do, and that includes not picking up spin when i see it on the ground. i only open chests now for junk armor to destroy on alts. also, i heard that factions give crucible commendations on lvl up, so those of you that dont like pvp dont have to grind as much in crucible to get what you want. still sucks though crucible gear being twice as easy to get as vanguard

I don't really enjoy crucible because of the shotgun/fusion rifle scrubs and the Noobdancer button mashers Still, that said, I really wanted the Saterienne Rapiet so I just had to grind it out over a few days to reach level 3. Now I'm a happy PVE player again :)

On one hand, I do miss trading the mats in. I actually enjoyed doing the farming runs, except for the moon. I never found a good rhythm for that.. I do have a ton of mats lying around not doing anything anymore. I'd love to be able to do SOMETHING with them again. Now that I've gotten started with the Thorn bounty, and I'm playing Crucible more carefully (as a terrible Crucible player), I do see the real drop off in mark acquisition between Crucible and Vanguard... Wow... They need to get that straightened out somehow and someway. I see why they got rid of the mats for marks exchange with the launch of dark below. I have hundreds of mats, and if they had kept it, I would have had a new set of 31 gear, and the best legendaries I could get from the vendors. I totally see that. They upped the Tower gear too much by making it a 31 light level set. So they took out mats for marks to prevent folks from getting the good gear too fast.
