tower gear explained. stop complaining
Im seeing a lot of confusion with the new DLC and i just thought id clear up some of the most common questions.
1st thing is that you can buy new armor to reach a maximum light lvl of 31 from any of the tower factions, crucible handler, and vanguard vendors.
SOME of these new pieces of gear in the tower require a COMMENDATION, which are achieved by reaching your next rank in crucible or vanguard rep. Ranking a faction up with result in a crucible commendation.
ONLY [b]chests and helmets[/b] (weapons as well) will require commendations.
Take note that any gear purchased in the tower will not allow you reach the new light lvl cap of 32. (Same deal as before the dlc) This level can only be achieved by getting a full raid set from the dark below OR 3 pieces of new raid gear and an exotic that has been reset through xur to match the increased light lvl.
One last thing to anyone who complains about these vendors selling gear better than the vault of glass gear... Its the exact same situation as before the dlc, tower gear before dlc got you to 29 but if you wanted to be a 30 you had to grind the raid. The same exact situation is happing now but with lvl 31 and 32 so your complaints are invalid.

Edited by VanZanSlevin: 12/10/2014 7:06:26 AMWhat Bungie should do is have the most recent raid drop a raid armor upgrade shard that allows you to upgrade a piece of raid armor to the current max level. This will make it so it is still necessary to run the new raid to be max level and also allow us to choose how we look at max level.

I appreciate you taking the time to make a thread and help out fellow guardians. Clearing up the comendation for gear. Now where you should have left out is talking about the complaints about VoG and vendor gear. Really appears your not reading/understanding the complaints. Everything else is great and thank you, keep up the good work.

4 RepliesIf the vog raid gear and the tower gear are the same so vog is useless , why should i do vog to get raid gear if i can buy gear that have stats like vog gear and i can even choose which stats i want in the gear by choosing a faction ... Bungie you didnt think it all through , its all about crota's raid now , maybe it will happen again when the house of wolves will come out ? Crota's gear will be useless and its going to be all about the HOW Expansion Gear ?...

I had a successful day! I bought the warlock helmet with a commendation from Vanguard. Got the boots from FWC. Then got the New Monarchy gloves as a reward for finishing the Weekly at level 30 which was really really hard for 2 level 29's. Plus I won a Three Little Words from the cryptarch for leveling up. A VERY successful day!. So the light for each of my new armor is 33 max. What does that mean? What does a piece of armor which will take you to level 32 have as its max?

I am just going to get a set of tower gear and say f the raid mite do it a few times but not going to try and grind it out. Just made a Seco d warlock so I could do it twice a week but think I will make a titan and just play all 3 classes.

2 RepliesIf you find exotics are they already capable to go to the next level because I got 2 today the suros regime and the P and T the suros was set to only get to 300 and the P and T started at 302 so I do t really understand

Thanks. You actually cleared it up a little more for me. I was pissed that I recently used all my shards to get to 30 because the new raid will start at lvl 30. I was pissed about the new vendor gear until I just now realized that there's no point for me to buy that gear now that I am 30, I can focus solely on getting the new raid pieces. Thanks for putting my mind at ease!

2 RepliesAlready got my titan all new Light 33 armor and the arms finally have fur on it at least I think it is. Screw entitled assholes It's all RNG the raid only gave me arms and legs and Iv done around 25 runs in vog

3 Replies+1 ... normal expectation of how new content works ... why would the old gear stay good? If it was done more in line with others new greens should be better than old purples. Be happy you can keep your exotics ... sucks that I had 3 sets of raid gear though for different situations LOL anyways time to get the new stuff!

Thanks for confirming that ranking up a vendor gives you a crucible commendation. Was worried I'd have to take off my faction items to rank up crucible vendor in order to be able to get a commendation to buy stuff from the faction. I have no problem with the system. Glad I only created my 3rd character last week. Look forward to gettting them to level 31 and running Crota's End. Was fun but super tough last night.

I think I will still use my vog boots for the heavy ammo bonus. Unless I get an exotic chest that gives me that body's that I can use.
