All about Jackolytes
Let's discuss this thing.
What is it, what does it do, how long does it last, is it one time use only, are there any hidden effects?
I'm currently at work and I'm curious.
If all it is is a consumable to change appearance, I think everyone is going to be highly disappointed. It could at least make rare or higher engrams drop more often, give a 4x multiplier to glimmer gains, increase chest rewards or give max stats (100%) to the player using it.
EDIT:
What we know so far -
1. 30 min consumable, from postmaster. Stack of 3. Just one.
2. Strange sounds can be heard while wearing it.
3. Pumpkinhead Does not work for everyone (glitchy)
4. Jackolyte sometimes drops from Hive enemies.
5. It changes your helmet into an acolyte Jackolantern.
6. Having completed the nightfall seems to be part of #3
7. Xur sells an extra item if you visit him after freshly using one. (Flight of shadows, changes respawn animation for 24 hours.)

1 ReplySadness :/. Mine doesn't seem to work. I tried it once before nightfall and again after, but it didn't do anything. I've seen people in the tower with the pumpkin head and I really want it... it is kind of creepy cute :)

2 RepliesSince it is a Halloween themed item, why not save it for use on Halloween. It may do something only then. I heard that there are also Halloween themed Sparrows based on this: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2klc36/destiny_halloween_update_2_new_items_4_new/. Perhaps these sparrows are unlocked on Halloween while wearing the Jackolyte?

3 RepliesAm I the only person who is kinda mad that it only last 30 minutes. I would rather be able to use permanently or at least get a themed permanent item. Even an emblem would be cool.

That said I'd be happy if all they had was the head piece. A bit of decorative changes to the tower would have been pretty epic though.

1 ReplyI usually complain about Destiny's issues as much as anyone, but I think the pumpkin heads are fun. There's nothing here to complain about. I'd prefer they do goofy little stuff like this and work on big issues - connection problems, content, etc. - instead of get too focused on holidays.

I know a space themed Halloween quest would be slightly absurd but I find these kinds of things keep the game interesting for any holiday event. Plus with each coming year it lets you show off what you earned from the previous( if its supposed to be a 10 year game, show off your dedication and have some novelties to show for it). I honestly didn't expect any type of holiday event regardless, but these are just some ideas I've seen over my years of playing MMOs.

3 RepliesWhile it's cool that Bungie didn't forget about Halloween (which happens to be my household's favorite holiday), we would've preferred a whole event instead of a consumable. As to the item itself, I'll (we'll) probably hold onto it until we hear more about it...or at least until Halloween itself.

2 RepliesThe discription of it seems to suggest something Hive related. It would seem out of place for them to actually have the Hive drop the Jackoltyte's without something happening. Going to roam around The Moon for a bit, open some chests and do some missions. I'll see if I can turn up anything for ya.

The noises sound like they were recorded in a haunted house Edit; Jackolantern is everywhere with me now Edit 2; whenever I take damage a faded version of the jackolantern goes out and fades in front of my face. I think it might be a bug. An annoying one at that

11 RepliesI like the Jackolantern item but I was really hoping they would decorate the tower and maybe have a few halloween shaders and emblems. I feel like that wouldn't be too hard they could even do a Halloween themed strike.
