I've spent nearly 200 hours playing destiny and trying to grasp the very extensive lore. We all know how the game has a lack of story, but not of lore, and when you have this much lore there are always theories. I'm going to start off with the big -kaboom- 1. The traveler is a good guy or in the light it has been shown to us in. (pun intended.) - Well first of the heart of the garden sums up my theory, some higher being comes drops a couple of things on a planet terraforms it and we worship it similair to the vex and the black heart. It kindave live the 2 aliens in the bible theory (not even gonna go that far into this topic so dont get mad.) SO as i saw of disovery channel some great minds think that some events in the bible where two warring aliens races, and because humans where so simple, and supersticous we would worship anything we felt had an edge over us. Im applying the same thing to the traveler/darkness. And for starters in the cards it says the traveler never really told us about itself. Sounds fishy to me, but anyway who is saying it didnt want humans who are very easily adaptable to be its own personal army the exo, and awoken where bonuses. Its my upmost opinion that something that is good, and "benevolent" as the traveler wouldnt lead its problems to humanity which im sure already had a long list of its own. 2 The vex are altered humans/traveler light I know sounds dumb, but think about it as you level up the armor begins to get more, and more eerie. Like the symbiotic helment for the hunter which basically has some kind of mass growing in your face. Also no one knows where the vex came from, and the have biomasses that are not known to any living species. Well the awoken are from the traveler right? So why cant the same thing be said for the vex. And if they can actually time travel and they really did want to kill the travleer why not go to the time of its weakest state and kill it similair to mother when you kill ghegis or whatever as a baby. 3 The Speaker is kinda.. well a lotta snake-ish I dont know if its that sexy voice or that hot mask but something about the speaker makes me not sit right, well for starters he never really tells you anything you cant get from ingame dialouge. And he dosent show his face at all. Did i mention you cant see his face? He reminds me of one the crooked popes from the middle ages who would twist the bible words for their own personal gain. Although im not 100% sure he isnt a "good guy" but i think the speaker is witholding info. also what that giant rotating thing in his perch looks like the light in the summoning pits, but moving on in on of the cards it say that he has his own personal army of the dead COUGH COUGH this is very similar to the hive maybe because the darkness is a split from the travler or something of different origins but the same power it made the hive which are mad ugly. And if i wanted to take over the universe what better way to do it than your own dead army.... 4 During the collapse not every one who want near the traveler died. Once again going back to the lack of free-ish roam content or lack off. I want to turn attention back on the cards which reference the shipwright being born outside of the safety of the walls. Hmmm well it seems to me that it is very possible to live in the ruins of earth from under the travlers protection. This also could have been a golden opportunity for bungie to add in a special event where you help human survivors or something of the sorts. 5 The light and dark are the same just different origins I know what you thinking if the origins are different how are they the same. Well think of fires. You have a grease fire, and a grass fire what the difference? nothing really they are both fires the only things is how you put them out. Well from what i can gather from basic knowledge we guardins can weild darkness (thorn and the sword of crota) and the darkness can weld light i suppose even though i dont classify the fallen as workers for the dark THEY SHHOOOOT BEAMS OF LIGHT OUT THEIR BUTTS WHEN YOU SHOOT THEM I MEAN COMEON. but any way the hive and fallen are shown fighting on multiple plains as are the fallen and hive, and the cabal and the vex. The vex and hive who have direct connections are always fighting the other two factions which is why i just think they are regulary old take us to your leader aliens and not the darkness kind. 6 The golden age For starters i dont care how bad something has crashed or collapsed no matter how much you try history and knowlege will be there like the roman or greek ruler who burned libraries before his time some of that knowleged was passed along. but even if the world where to have some catastophic even we would know of the past history and who built machines of war EXO and who they where meant to fight. I hate how we learn of nothing in the archive mission just stupid facts i dont care about that was a pool of info that wouldve shed light on a bunch of questions i got from playing the game. But back to the golden age. If humanity was so strong how where we stamped out so fast, also it seems guradians where around then. Or something of the sorts, and it seems that they where unable to stop the enemies who took our planets. In the cards it says something about the huge failure to retake the moon basically twilight gap part 1 or 2 im not sure of the chronological order. Im not sure but for some reason i think the ghost erased your memories considering the fact that it seems you were born before the time of the traveler.
