I'm obsessed with Halo:CE -- though I mostly only play it on PC. Knowing about Bungie's story with Microsoft's acquirement and its Halo-sequel pushing relationship with Bungie, I can't help feeling Halo 2 and 3 weren't quite what Bungie planned for Halo's future. Is this correct? Meh, yeah.. Halo 2 and 3 were great games (kinda), but they really don't feel like they meet properly with Halo:CE's aesthetics, level design, and mechanical soups.
Meh. Lame. I'll be a little more honest. I'm not just "Hey dude, I'm playing Halo Combat Evolved a lot lately and my thoughts are... "
I'm a fanatic.
I hate Halo:CE mods ('CE' for either 'Custom Edition' or 'Combat Evolved'; whatever, take your pick).
I'm a canonical Halo:CE man.
I like digging through old videos and shit from when Bungie was developing Halo:CE. I've downloaded every screenshot and I've acquired all the concept art I can find. Eggs. Eggs. Etc.
Not even close. Pfft, who cares about downloading screenshots.
How am I supposed to substantiate my obssession over Halo:CE without sounding like a dick?
If you had used exponential blending for lense flares -- rather than linear blending -- they'd have looked so much sexier! (you'd also not need so many draw calls for rendering plasma orbs, I think)
If you had used some kind of tonemapping operator for cubemaps (roughly speaking), they'd also have looked sexier. Well, at the time -- maybe only for rendering forerunner buildings, but not character models -- I'd render the cubemaps in another pass with depth-write disabled (edit: Um, wait. No good. Depth bias.) and additive blending at some specular factor per-vertices' alpha.
Ego steroids!
I think you should have kept the dinosaur things! The flood were lame and did not require dramatic emphasis! The 'Covenant' should have been called 'the purple aleins' and had been the Halo's creators, not the Forerunners! After the first level being on Halo, I've always hurted for more coolness (yay)! What the -blam!- is with Halo 2 and Halo 3? You already blew up the one and only Halo! It's Halo, the definite article. Not halos. Halo. Suck my dick.
There. You -blam!-ed up Halo from the very beginning. It had so much potential. Pfft.
I play games to be on Halo (Installation 004? No. Halo). Not to be on Earth or to finish the fight. The fight may never finish! Halo forever! Gephyropobia was so cool looking. I think I spelled that correctly. Good.

Me and my brother played it sooo thoroughly. We had no internet because we were poor but we found some scary bugs in that game, without the bias of 'knowing there'd be easter eggs'.
Meh. Lame.
