The issue is the devs play way too much ARPG and not enough MMOs.
Patrol zones needed an update years ago
* World boss events (similar Vex incursion or escalation protocol on mars but with a countdown timer added to it )
* Secret lost sector (a rare lost sector that opens up on certain times of the day)
* Secret bosses and small events in solo areas (boring and pointless areas now)
* Adventure patrol missions (flush out lore and secrets of the destination)
Most of the destinations got boring due to BUNGIE copying and pasting the same events at each destination with lack of interest outside the story exploring it.

Spot on. Heck they don’t pay attention to public patrol destinations at all. Some bugged public events have been happening for years with no fix. Same weapon drops for years. They haven’t cared about public patrol destinations for quite a while now. It started with the unforgiving Neomuna followed by absolutely no new Public event locations.

I feel like the hard criticism they received with Neomuna just straight up hurt their feelings and decided to drop the concept of traditional patrols all together. It really sucks because heart of the traveler was an amazing approach to world events imo, all it was missing was open public matchmaking anywhere you go and maybe more enemies.

Exactly man how many times are we going to do fallen glimmer drill ,Cabal mining and Vex assimilation events thats been here since vanilla D2 WTH The new mode is gd but they could have easily turned those into patrol areas with a Vex portal separating the zones
