Patrol really feels like a part of the game that was never capitalized on. Like we have these beautiful open zones, yet the loot they drop will never be worth it over the usual grind.

At least in D1, there was an outside chance of an exotic weapon engram dropping anywhere. And I don’t recall the same small puddle of guns being at a patrol area for years and years like we have at places now. Considering how Bungie has been neglecting random public patrol recently, I have worries that they may abandon new public patrol locations in the future. It sure has seemed that way lately.

Now that you bring this up, i sometimes get an exotic engram drop from the Altars of Sorrow zone on the moon while i'm out patrolling.

I have had that happen too. I just wish those exotic drops had even a small chance of being something new. Especially a new weapon. I know people wanted exotic weapon missions to guarantee they would get a certain gun, but I kind of liked that anticipation and excitement of a random exotic engram drop. Something I haven’t felt in quite a while.
