Don’t get rid of Crafting

I’m not a casual player. You wanna make crafting more difficult then fine. Taking crafting away completely is a brain dead move. Replacing focusing with tonics was an even more brain dead decision. Get it right or this game will die.

  • I agree. If they want to make weapons or weapon patterns locked behind hard content such as raids , dungeons, etc I'm game but asking me to do the same thing over and over and over to get RNG rolls hopeful the one I want will drop is just bananas and I'm tired of the grind.

  • I disagree. Crafting was an overall negative addition to the game, but whenever I bring this up I have crafting apologists at my throat because they have such an emotionally visceral reaction to it and almost none will have a logical discussion on the topic. Crafting also isn't removed its been pushed back to a catchup mechanic which is all it ever should have been at most.

      Crafting doesn't need removal it just need nerfing which is what Bungie is doing. Its being reduced to a catch up mechanic which is fine, as it makes the actual item drops themselves matter a little more than being dismantled. People have complained about dismantling things for so long because they don't matter, which is mostly due to crafting. Crafting in its current implementation is not needed for seasonal activities, its however needed for raids because of how raids are designed and spit out loot. If Bungie decides to shake up how raids are structured so you get more choice on the loot that drops(getting rid of dumb loot tables) and that doing full/in order runs gives you better rewards then crafting won't be needed anymore. Seasonal activities are designed to be replayable, we could argue about how "good" or "bad" a particular seasonal activity is but that is irrelevant to the point that there is zero point in desigining an activity to be replayable if the weapons are craftable. Here is one BIG question on my mind though... How did you cope with playing Destiny pre-witch queen? D1 and D2(pre-witch queen) both had zero crafting.

    • the issue l have with crafting is that they basically just stopped it. The whole focusing a weapon or this stupid tonic system is horrible Focusing weapons from raids/dungeons was great when we were able to and damn even vanguard/gambit or pvp would be great as well

    • Crafting is a key part of the game. It kept me playing and increased my play time. This season feels empty without crafting.

    • Yeah they totally made crafting out to be a bad thing in the end of year update. Total misread of the community. Wouldn’t be the first time. Remember us screaming at them to not do sunsetting (again)? They still don’t understand the community.

    • If people don't want crafting then they can just not craft stuff. I'll craft my five outta five and you can "earn" it. Then when you see me in game you can feel all superior and shite. Problem solved.

    • I’ve always been against crafting, at least for top tier loot. They need to improve focusing and perk pool manipulation but loot drops are better than red border farming where everything that isn’t a red border is useless and everything after you’ve crafted is also useless.

        Bungie thinks endless grinds for decent weapon rolls will increase player numbers and player engagement as they endlessly chase their 1 in 100+ roll (3/5) or 1 in 1000+ roll (5/5). They don't want people being able to craft their own God rolls without a weeks-long grind, and then for those players to stop playing until the next episode. What they don't understand is player numbers and engagement decline when the game's a torturous and unrewarding grind, and numbers and engagement increase when when it's fun. But Bungie doesn't want to, or doesn't know how to, make it fun again.

        • I went back to D1, made a new account to see how much of how I feel about it was rose-tinted glasses. Almost none of it was. It was flat out a better game and if it wasn't for the player population being so low you can't run pretty much any of the automatic fireteam stuff I'd probably just keep playing for months. After going back, D2 just feels like they nerfed everything just so doing all the gear chasing and optimization just gets you back to where you were as normal in D1. I cast 3 nova bombs in about 5 minutes, no special nonsense. Just a more super energy from killing minions of the darkness helmet mod. Guardians used to be the legend. I won't play D2 again, I'm pretty much He-Man in the latest Skeletor video. The drama is more fun than the game. Destiny #104 on Steam currently. It's never been that low, all content draughts considered. This game is clearly going the wrong way.

          • something l feel bungie over looked .that weapon crafting not only helped in player retention . but it's critical for team balancing . you can't have 3 dudes in a team running around in a pvp with the God rolls.meen while players that grind for days and never got the God roll. it ends up unfair and players bounce.

            • crafting gave me a reason to run activitys that blow chunks. crafting was fun and trying perk combo's. noway I'll set foot in a boring grind fest activity again without it. games dead because of this.just one more log on the fire. bungie continues to blunder its way to its own demise

              • I agree. I never liked grinding for hours and/or days for weapons to get the roles I want. That line of thought never once made any sense to me, and I've always hated it. I love crafted weapons, and I prefer crafted weapons instead of grinding for random roles.

              • There are some toxic trolls in this forum who will disagree with you vehemently. But they are not in the forum right now, they love RNG and advocate for it but when player count drops they leave first🤣 when Bungie manages to revive this game again they will be back with their BS again to kill the game “AGAIN” and Bungie will never learn. These players can p00p tonz everywhere over the forums, Reddit, twitter etc.. and Bungie ends up thinking those p00p coming from thousand players’ h0les.

In addition, come their threadbare explanations and excuses. I don't want to count what they did good because the bad outweighs this by far. It's just embarrassing with them, starting with their leadership and their current development. They don't give themselves at least the appearance of change for good. Edit: Meanwhile, the game reminds me of a dead horse - still beaten by Bungie.

              • Time will tell if Bungie intends to die on this hill catering to the streamers, YT'ers and rng addicts with this. I hope they don't since the removal of seasonal crafting killed my drive to even try in this game cause I have no want or will to endlessly grind a boring af mode HOPING to get the roll I want. Course it may need to be tweaked a bit to still make it so you need to focus on seasonal activities but least with crafting getting the roll you wanted at least had a endpoint rather than an endless slog.

                • yeah removing crafting atm is bad, even if the current casual state of the crafting system is bad removing it without the tier system is bad, Bungie needs to make the tier system good and they need to make the tier 5 guns/armor a lot stronger and droppable only with contest modifier active
