I rather just have the bounties back. If I want to sit in pvp or strikes or gambit then let me do so. I actually liked the old system.

Pathfinder is poorly executed, forcing players to play game modes they dislike/ actively hate will only make them play another game. The fix is easy, a separate pathfinder for each ritual activity.
-
Agreed. Pathfinder sucks, and really has ruined my weekly grind routine. Sometimes I don’t feel like playing Gambit, or Strikes. Now I’m forced to do stupid things I don’t want to do. Like kill enemies blinded by arc in Gambit??? That’s a bounty I’d either skip or discard to get a different one. But NOPE, now I can’t progress my Pathfinder until I do that or some other stupid challenge I don’t want to do. It sucks. At least let us RE-ROLL the nodes if we want! I’ll pay the glimmer, just let me change the freaking nodes!
-
1 ReplyThey should've had completely separate Pathfinders for each Ritual activity, instead of one with mixed objectives, or at least sorted the paths so a player could choose one for the activity they prefer. While I don't really mind the way it is right now, I still think it would be better for everyone if they went with the above suggestion.

7 RepliesBungie is going to force us to play modes we don't like. Don't they think we could just go into gambit complete the pathfinder objective and just leave gambit early? Who wins there? Bungie just doesn't think it through. You have people that play crucible and not strikes, and same for gambit or strikes. Why try to force the population? Just to have people leave early once they get what they want. People want to play what they want. Want to play crucible? Great have at it .. Just want to do strikes? Well why not then? I hope Bungie see's these posts and finds a middle ground.
-
Agreed. If I only want to play crucible then let me. It's also not in an easy place to find. Directions to it are all the way on the bottom like fine print in a contract. Lol

3 RepliesPathfinder was billed as giving players agency. Allowing players to pick what they want to do, ritual activity wise as well as task specific. It fails on that and any idea that channels players to fewer and fewer options as you progress will always fail at providing agency. Pathfinder is the opposite of agency. It channels you into very limited options. I will do no PVP! I am not being fed to sweats for some streaming channel just for a stupid reward that mostly will not be worth the effort. Bungie once again lied! They lied about how it would give all the choice to the player. Just swap it back to the old system of three runs for a reward. Pathfinder SUCKS!
-
Frankly I am a little surprised both systems weren't maintained. Pathfinder is alright I guess but I don't see much of a point of removing the weekly bounties
-
I've never understood their flawed logic that "if we keep breaking things the players will be happy". Since I've been gaming I have never seen any developer but this one constantly changes how things work in a game to only please themselves. A decade and they have never built a foundation for this game to get it to actually move forward. Change is welcomed if what they are changing actually works to improve things for the game/player base, but 90% of the time it's change to work for what works for them and that's just dumb development. Yes "it's their game" but they really aren't good at managing it.

Edited by rue2n2: 6/8/2024 7:07:24 PMI also liked the old system. I actually like the OLD old system in the early years of D1 in the sense that it had a LOT of variety, in particular the destination bounties used to make you think about "where can I find a bunch of <enemy type>?" or "Where did I see those?" and made you explore and know the world a bit. I also like "shopping" for bounties "that interest me". Also, those "general purpose" bounties were a good source of XP, and now I have to work the destination bounties more, which takes time away from other non-destination activities (one of the reasons I quit Gambit was I had to sacrifice it to give me enough time for seasonal activities... and I don't have skills and cannot stomach it anymore - easy decision). But regarding the second point by the OP, if Bungie's intent is to make us play both PVE AND PVP, then I get it and simply won't attempt to finish Pathfinder. BUT if that isn't the intent, I'm going to be disappointed with the designers (and Bungie in general): as a player that NEVER did Crucible and stopped Gambit quite a while ago (I don't have the skill, and no longer have the stomach or time for it), I've discovered that I cannot complete this week's pathfinder. I have only 1 PVE-only node on the 2nd tier with 1 connection on tier 3 which is blocked by two PVE nodes, and only 1 node on tier 4 with a sole connection on tier 3 blocked by 2 PVP on tier 2, with both paths laterally blocked by PVP nodes straight through between them. If the intent really was to be able to complete Pathfinder "your way", then it failed immediately. If not, I'll live without it. Regardless, I'll do the nodes for XP and it looks like I'll just have to live with more Seasonal Challenges left incomplete.

1 ReplyEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 6/7/2024 1:26:15 PMSimply put, if I can’t stay within the activity of my choice all the way to the end every time, it’s not a good system.

7 RepliesJust another despotical way to force casuals to be cannon fodder for streamers.

I mean . Both have bad rewards lol so its par for the course

Bro, its over with. This is the end state of D2. It will not change, it will not progress. They are simply milking all the left over idiots that still log for everything they can get. Once i get through raid one time, game is uninstalled after 12000 hours. I will NEVER give these people another dime and if any of them go somewhere else, that company will receive ZERO. These people need to be blacklisted for what they have done to the game and their player base. Unacceptable on every single aspect.
-
I kinda like it
-
Same here, really miss collecting those bounties before running activities, why not have both systems?
-
You kids say this exact same copy-cut post every single time Bungie changes anything. Do you ever get tired of blindly hating on the game?
-
6 RepliesI can knock out the daily bounties for call of duty modern warfare 3 in one 10 minute match. This is a grind.
-
Pathfinder is amazing, and I love it. I no longer have to hunt down so many bounties. And boy do the seasonal challenges offer a lot of Dust!

3 RepliesEdited by nonchalantone: 6/7/2024 12:30:06 AMPathfinder seems as if it were done just to give the "appearance" of new content. When in acutalty, it's a waste. It was also done to extend playtime. Just to keep people logged in and the numbers looking good. Same reason shards were gotten rid of. Just to get us to grind more in other ways. Edit: even seems to "slow" progress on bounty dumps too as far as leveling up season.

2 RepliesEdited by Miraz: 6/7/2024 12:09:39 AMThis is the final prove that Bungie is one of the most scammer studio ever. It is not enough to be a pay to win game, where you need to buy a DLC to have subclasses, now they reduced the possibility of gaining bright dust in 200% (150 per week instead 450 minimum).... minimum if you were lazy) I don't understnad why the so proud Destiny Community still endorse this. It is a releive to know the franchinsing is going to end.....
-
Does anyone believe that they replaced the Bounties with the Pathfinder just to give us something better? No! The only reason they eliminated the Bounties was to get rid of one of the main sources of Bright Dust, especially for those of us who do not buy the Season Pass. I am talking about the repeatable bounties purchasable for 3000 Glimmers that rewarded us with Bright Dust upon completion. Why do you think they got rid of that? It seems very obvious to me....
-
I think the Final Shape is the best expansion Destiny has ever gotten. However, putting PVE, PVP, and Gambit into a single pathfinder page is -blam!-. If they make two pathfinder pages each for PVE and PVP, it would be much better. Btw Gambit does not need a pathfinder. save your resources.

3 RepliesWhat happened to "play your way?"
-
2 RepliesYou’re more than welcome to sit in pvp and level up your vendor. I for one am glad destiny has evolved and is trying a different reward delivery. This may not be the perfect setup but it shows an effort in their part to improve something that was STALE. How many posts have been there about “bounty simulator”? Perhaps in the future they make a specific pvp pathfinder page? Idk. Change is welcome is a arena where things had gotten very very stale

Played a game of Gambit this morning. One player on the team had 3 motes, one player had 0 motes. They just left them lying around, while making lots of kills. Had to run like hel to pick em up. They just ignore the objective and do the quest only. I assume in Crucible you get similar issues. It hurts the serious players.

1 ReplyFrom a non bias / objective standpoint: Pathfinder is great! It’s another added layer to your reward system that grants players an incentive to shaking things up. By doing so; you’re granted rewards that are often worth the chase. How it evolves over time is anyone’s guess. Is it better than bounties? Yes Are players gonna miss doing bounties. 50/50 Should bungie continue doing bounties? No The bounty system has run its course. It’s dated. And lots of games now have found more interesting ways to include rewards into gameplay. And this feels like the right direction. I love what we had, but I’m gonna embrace what we’re getting!
