The hardest part of getting my friends into Destiny is the missing story.

Even with my friends who are willing to buy in are missing so much context and emotional investment on what's happening now. There are so many key storylines that are now inaccessible, and the one-paragraph summaries on the timeline don't get people to CARE about them. Red War, Forsaken, and the missing seasons need to be in the game in some form not because it provides replay value, but because the stories they tell are what gets a lot of people invested in the game. Missing key events like the rescue of Saint-14, as well as longer arcs like Crow's growing friendship with the Guardian, means that players who join now are just shoved into a story with characters they don't have any reason to care about. Lightfall has the finale of Calus's arc, and the only part of that ingame is Duality, while the context for our alliance with the Fallen and Cabal is nonexistent - to a new player, we just kill some of them arbitrarily. While I can't say this with any confidence, as I'm not a game designer and I have no idea how complex the back-end is, I suppose my best suggestion would be "add temporary versions of the HELM that flash back to events from previous years as quest locations", and have one-off, soloable versions of the activities as part of the questline. For many of the y3 arcs, you only need a few key missions, not the farmable activities, in order to convey most of the story. (Seraph Towers aren't really key to understanding Rasputin's motivations, after all.) So... this is a lot, I know. But... please, please give us this story back in SOME form. No-one is willing to sit down and watch a two hour YouTube video of someone ELSE running back and forth between the HELM and the Eliksni district - as important as story is, what made Destiny's so engrossing is being a part of it. Let THEM save Saint-14, befriend Crow, listen to Calus's skeevy monologues, and deliver Rasputin to his final stand. In some form. Destiny 2 has a great story. Please return it to the game.

  • I feel bad for the ones that did not play destiny 2 before beyond light came out cause that was when destiny 2 was in its prime . No crafting , no battlegrounds , no sunsetting , no strand , no stasis , no pvp toddlers abusing strand and stasis in pvp , just the epicness of destiny 2 . I wanna buy that version of destiny 2 and i don't even care about the price . Even if it would be 1000 dollars , i would still buy it . I bought every dlc and did everything the game had to offer but after beyond light it all went downhill ... The witch queen campaign is the most depressing campaign i have ever played . Was this a destiny 2 campaign or a drama show about savathun ? All that whining ... jezus christ ! No humor or whatever . But that was nothing compared to freakin lightfall .. Did a kid create this or something ?? Cause lightfall is the worst dlc that i have ever seen in any game ! And that does not make sense because destiny 2 had forsaken ... The forsaken campaign was the best campaign i have ever played in any game . How can the same game poduce stuff like forsaken , red war campaign , curse of osiris and the warmind and then takes a big dump in our face and come up with lightfall !!??????? How !!?????????? My expections for the final shape are very low simply because of how badly lightfall is and that is their most recent dlc ... No-one is going to neomuna for fun . Everyone hates it , yet they are gonna make another planet like neomuna with tormentors . 😑 Nowadays people ONLY play that what is new , are bored of it after 2 weeks and play another game untill the next dlc comes out but this time their final dlc will die so quickly . On top of that they nerf that what streamers are abusing to 2man pantheon with it , again the latest content ...

(Seraph Towers aren't really key to understanding Rasputin's motivations, after all.)[/quote] One of the underlying issues would be the support needed to maintain it; right now Bungie are only really worrying about keeping Shadowkeep onwards in the game, they can afford temporary content being a burden because every year theres a removal of them. Readding 2 full years worth of content, plus 5* years worth of seasonal content again is a major thing. Pre-BL content needs to be fixed and updated to work with engine updates (lighting/physics etc). If they add something there has be client side and server side support for it, this would almost double whats currently in the game and has to be fixed/supported/tested etc at any given point. A good example of this is a change happened years ago to an activity/system that wasn't related to Whisper/Zero Hour but as a result all weapons in those 2 activities were dealing enough damage to nuke everything in a few shots and bosses in a single mag - https://streamable.com/o1omy The likely trade off for them dumping everything back in will be - slower less frequent fixes (ie pre-beyond light times), more bugs, slower load times, and even less support/fixes for older content than we currently have.
