Who thinks exotics tied to only lost sectors is dumb?
Bungie has taken a TEAM oriented game and forced people to farm solo activities to get the exotics they pay for by buying the game. Exotics should be quests, raid rewards and world drops. The joy of a random exotic dropping in the world was so great in destiny. I ran 18 master lost sectors yesterday and didn't get one exotic.

As opposed to having them drop randomly at who knows when and little hope to ever see another one? Nope. Having the opportunity, [i]not a guarantee mind you[/i], to get one at a specific time and place while being able to weed out armor types you dont want, is awesome.

So, we're complaining about farming some of the easiest content, even in Legend mode - a mode that takes maybe 10 minutes for even the most average of players to complete solo?

In my opinion, random exotic drops should be random exotic drops, not exclusive to lost sectors. That being said, I think exotics that drop in the world should be able to be duplicates (right now if you are missing any world drop exotics, you are guaranteed to get one you don’t have). Lost sectors would then be guaranteed to give an exotic you don’t have. This way solo lost sectors would still be very useful for getting a new exotic to drop, but not the only source. It would also avoid putting you at the mercy of RNG when doing lost sectors, since if there’s a new exotic, you’d be guaranteed to get that.

I don't think it's a terrible idea, but knowing that the new Exotics will be guaranteed from doing the Witch Queen campaign on Legendary is probably the biggest incentive to do that, for me. If it goes down well, and I imagine it will, I hope Bungie shift new Exotics to be guaranteed drops from more difficult/lengthier things rather than farming a Lost Sector on a particular day of the week.

I love it, Relying on pure RNG to get new exotics sucks. You could get every powerful drop in a week and not get an exotic to drop. Took me weeks to get the last exotic they added to the pull. I’ve farmed every lost sector exotic and on average it takes 1-5 runs to get them, I’ve had multiple drop on my first run and had a few where I needed to run 10. There zero reason to ever do a lost sector and this gives you a reason, They are extremely easy to complete (I did them 30 levels under to get the exotics ASAP) Could they make it so you can farm with others? Yep sure, just cut the drop rates by half with two people and three with a full fireteam

It's a good idea , they just need to dramatically increase the drop rates , farming for better stats on an exotic you already have is bad because of the low drop rates. It's only good for getting new Exotics -

I thought it was strange when it first started since Bungie had, historically, put a lot of emphasis on the social aspect (the ‘friend game’). I do them on legend difficulty, have gotten all the exotics and find them an OK place to test out anti-champ loadouts. Some of them (on the moon, especially) are too tedious though.

Well… Then your probably going to hate even more earning the exotic that requires you to beat the entire legendary campaign in witch queen. There’s probably going to be an exotic like that every season now.

I really appreciate easy avenues for new exotics so I’m not complaining.

It can be tricky solo. I advise starting with solo patrol and working your way up kid!

Would’ve rather exotics were tied to those old mini story missions. Not the campaign but the short quests. Harder variations of those missions would’ve been both more interesting and fun whereas most lost sectors are pretty mundane and uninteresting [b]in my opinion[/b]. That being said, the lost sector grind itself I generally don’t mind.

100% need to buff drop rates, but I do enjoy the way of farming for exotics that way

I wouldn't mind if the drop rate was better. When the new exotics were new and out maybe close to 5 to 10 runs sometimes lucky being 2 to 4. But trying to farm one particular armor they hardly drop. I tried getting Gemini Jester cuz I accidentally deleted mine so I ran a master. Did bout 20 runs and all I got was enhanced cores and prisms. So dumb a master doesn't provide good drops. But a master nightfall will have better drops

Its good as it is, its a good prep for GM etc. Couple of weeks ago i got all 4 Warlock exotics within a couple of days, but you have to invest some time and bite true it. You dont get them for free. 1 tip, do legendary lost sectors and skip the Masters.

Tbh, i think it gives a reason to run a legend lost sector again, althought i can see why people think its annoying. I do like them, however. They are the best way to farm exotics, and dont take much more than 5 minutes to do.

5 RepliesThe fact that the [b][i]new[/i][/b] exotics can only be looted from Solo clears is dumb. Bungie needs to increase the chances of a drop regardless for solo clears, but adding a chance for fireteam clears would be a decent compromise.

1 ReplyTarget farming is cool. But not like this. Lost Sectors are boring as hell and don't add anything of substance to the game. They were a great precursor to the Dungeon concept and they've overstayed their welcome since Shattered Throne. I play them long enough to get the new Exotic to drop and then I just stop because they bore me to tears.
